Evelyn I woke with a start at the insistent sound of the doorbell and heavy knocks on my door. "My God, what’s all this for?" I murmured, rolling over in bed. My chest was already racing even before I opened my eyes, a reflex of the constant tension that had been walking beside me these past days with every breath I exhaled. Golden rays of sunlight filtered through the slats of the blinds, announcing that it was already late morning or early afternoon.
