Interrogation 8:35pm
"I want names!" Chad slammed a fist on the table.
"I'm sorry to disappoint but I don't know their real names." Nevaeh knew how to get under this man's skin. She seemed calm and collective sitting in front of him but she knew she needed to reach Velvet and the others. She needed help. She needed answers.
Chad leaned in close to Nevaeh. "I will hunt down everyone you ever loved and kill them myself. I promise you that."
Nevaeh went cold. Her eyes narrowed and a pain shot through her chest. "The only person I ever loved is already dead. But you knew that, didn't you?"
Chad sat back in his seat, his eyes dropping from hers. "I didn't kill your fiancé. I tried warning you. I wanted to save you. But you wouldn't listen."
"Why would you want to save me? I don't know you." They stared at each other for the longest time. Nevaeh didn't understand this man's sudden concern for her. She was a witch and he was a hunter. They couldn't be more opposite. He killed her kind. So why would he try and save her?
"That's right...You don't know me." The air became thick around them. Should she warn Rollins about Chad? This man wanted to kill her. He could be lying about killing Gregory. Chad stood quickly, his chair scratching the cement floor. "Until we meet again, Nevaeh." The door opened as he turned and walked out, leaving her with many more questions than when he came. If Chad couldn't find Velvet, then where were they? Did they leave town? Did they know he was in town looking for them? Why hasn't Velvet came looking for her?
"Nevaeh! Wait!" Gregory chased after me in his boxers. I barely made it to the door when he grabbed a hold of my arm. The touch that once set me ablaze with passion and love now angered me. I didn't want him touching me after having his hands all over that slut's body. "Let me explain!"
I shoved him as hard as I could. He barely stumbled backwards. "Go to hell, Gregory! And take that w***e with you!"
"It's not what you think!"
I couldn't believe he was lying to me! I seen it with my own eyes! He was standing there in his underwear looking like an i***t right now and he was going to tell me nothing was happening?! "I hate you! I f*****g hate you!" I shouted as I punched him repeatedly in the chest until I couldn't anymore. He grabbed my arms as I slid to me knees in a hysterical mess. How could this happen to me? How could he do this to me? I tried being everything he wanted and he still chose to lie to me. To betray me. Well I wasn't going to let him get away with it. I wasn't going to let either of them get away with it. I looked up into those sad green eyes. Then, I smacked him across the face. How dare he look at me with remorse like I was to be pitied!
I stood back up, wiping the tears that soaked my cheeks and without another word I turned by back to him and left.
Nevaeh was startled awake at the sound of a door slamming. She jumped in her chair and looked around the room as if someone was watching her. But, of course, there was always someone watching her from behind the two way mirror. She hadn't noticed the body standing in the shadows in the corner of the room until they walked into the light. She gasped. "Velvet!"
"Shhh!" Velvet acted quickly as she fumbled with the handcuffs that held Nevaeh to the table. Once her hands were free, Velvet tossed the little key to the floor. "We need to hurry! Melonie and Kelsie are waiting for us a few blocks away!"
"Wait! What are you doing?"
"Breaking you out!" Velvet peaked out the little window on the door.
"What! No! I'm not becoming a fugitive! I can convince them that I didn't do it-"
"Nevaeh!" Velvet turned, grabbed Nevaeh by the shoulders. Her fingers dug into her skin causing Nevaeh to wince in pain. "They aren't letting you go! That trashy little girl in there? She's telling the cops right now that she witnessed you kill your fiancé! That she walked in on you covered in his blood with a knife!"
"What?! But I-I didn't-"
"I know you didn't." Velvet pressed her hand against Nevaeh's cheek as the tears fell again." We know you didn't. We need to go." She turned to look at the window then slowly pulled the door open. Nevaeh was close on her heels as they snuck out and down the empty hall.
"Where is everyone?" Nevaeh asked but Velvet remained silent. Velvet stopped to glance into the security room where a security guard sat in his office chair shoving a powder donut into his mouth and laughing at whatever he was watching on his computer. Velvet grabbed a hold of Nevaeh's hand and together they ran for the door. Before exiting the building Velvet grabbed a couple police jackets, tossing one to Nevaeh and throwing the other over her shoulders.
The crisp night air hit Nevaeh like a brick wall and she stopped to take in all in. "We don't have time to enjoy freedom!" Velvet said, pulling Nevaeh along the sidewalk in a fast paced walk. Velvet began picking up pace, making it hard to keep up. Before they reached a completely blacked out suburban a few blocks over, Nevaeh was out of breath. The back doors flew open before they reached the vehicle and they quickly jumped in. Velvet remained aware of their surroundings until they were back on the road and going the opposite way of the police station. Nevaeh looked back just as every officer in the building piled out, no doubt looking for her.
"Welcome to the fugitive club," Kelsie smirked at Nevaeh in the rear view mirror.
