August 25th 2017 5:34 am "I'll see you tonight, baby," Gregory said and before I could say anything else, the line went dead. I didn't hang up the phone right away. My heart sank behind my chest and all I wanted was to hear his voice again. I put my phone back in my bag and sat bag in my seat with a little sigh. This was the second night in a row Greg had to work late and I was hoping to get a night with him and I alone. He has been so busy I hardly see him anymore. Should I go up to his office and surprise him? No. Better not. So what was I going to do today? I looked around the deserted street and contemplated what to do when something came to me just then. I quickly pulled out my phone again and pulled up the Black Witches Coven emails. A few days before Velvet had sent me a short list of common spells with corresponding herbs, candles and oils. I scrolled through, my finger moving fast against the screen until I found what I was looking for: a Come To Me spell. I bit my bottom lip, looking around at my surroundings as if someone was going to catch me doing something bad. After a few minutes, I searched the closest witchy shop near me and started the car. An hour later, I arrived at Enchantment, a little shop nestled in busy Brooklyn. It was a cute little store, a large purple crescent moon hanging outside the door. The wording on it wasn't readable, but it still gave the shop a mystical vibe. I parked in front and climbed from my car to stand outside the window. In the window display there were skulls of different colors, shapes and sizes. Decorative homemade candles in different colors and old Celtic statues of what looked to be different Goddesses made the store look like it was ready for Halloween. The feeling I got just standing there rose my adrenaline. I reached for the door handle and stepped inside, instantly being hit by the smell of sage and lavender. There were shelves upon shelves of books and Tarot cards. Glass cases held jewelry made from beautiful crystals and gems of different colors. Another shelf held homemade candles made for specific spells and rituals. Sachets already made with it's ingredients hung above a table filled with stones of every size. Crystal balls sat on a shelf behind the counter where an older woman, about mid forties, plucked the flower of a dandelion from it's stem. She didn't see me at first but when our eyes met she gave a big warm smile. "Hello there!" Her voice was lyrical. I returned a smile and made my way to the counter. "Forgive me. These are the last of the dandelions in my backyard. They are amazing in tea. Have you tried dandelion tea?" "N-no. I'm not much of a tea drinker," I said. "Oh, well you should be! Tea is very beneficial for your health. Mind, body and spirt." She removed her tray and placed it under the counter out of sight. "How may I help you?" "I'm...not sure. I'm looking for some things to help with a spell..." "Well you have come to the right place! Do you know what you are looking for?" "Umm..." I pulled a piece of paper from my bag that I had written down the herbs, crystals and oils I needed for the spell. "It's a come to me spell." Suddenly feeling embarrassed, I crumbled the paper in my hand. "Dear, don't feel scared to share your intentions. Spells and rituals aren't something to shy away from. Be proud of who you are! You're powerful! Use your powers!" She took me by the hand, unfolding my fingers and taking the paper. She unwrinkled it and scanned it over. "Hmmm..." "S-sorry! I found a spell online and thought it would work-" Suddenly, an uneasy feeling fell on us. Her eyes seem to glaze over and her body froze on the spot. She didn't move a muscle. It was as if she was literally frozen from moving or talking. "Ma'am?" For a second I thought the lights dimmed darker. Then, it was like everything went back to normal. She looked up at me with a haunting smile. "I can help you with this," she said in a shaky voice. "But I don't think these things will help with what you're after. Follow me." My feet didn't move at first. My gut was telling me to turn around and walk out. It screamed at me not to follow her. Was I imagining that dark moment a few minutes ago? Was I really that nervous? I took a deep breath and followed her towards the back of the store and through a doorway with no door. Beads hung where the door was supposed to be. On the other side was pitch black. From the outside you couldn't see anything. But once I entered I could see a black light illuminated the room in a deep purple. There were bottles that lined the walls on shelves that bore no labels but held unknown contents in them. A few jars on tables in the same manor, no labels and unknown things inside of them, sat on tables surrounded by pentagrams, skulls, black candles, bowls filled with water and...blood? Crystals were scattered everywhere, pentagrams painted on the floors and walls. Sage burned in a small cauldron on each table. There was even bones placed on a table at the far end of the room. "Is this...dark magic?" I asked. The lady continued searching her shelves, pulling things off and placing them on the table next to her. She didn't answer me. It was like I wasn't there. If I wasn't nervous enough, I had just become aware our terrified I really was. My list consisted of white magic supplies. I made sure of it. Although Velvet and the others were black witches, the idea of dabbling in black magic still didn't sit well with me. I figured I would work into it once I was comfortable. Finally she turned to me. Her smiling was even more frightening against the purple hues of the black light. "Come. I have everything you need."
