The morning approached, the sun had just appeared from the east. Hannah woke up, she had just been unconscious since last night. Her whole body was aching and her head was very dizzy. She tries to remember last night's events but she can't remember them, Hannah is suddenly an amnesiac. She looked around, she realized that she was in the hospital right now. Is the pain so severe? Until she was rushed to the hospital.
Hannah looked to the side and there was Adam there, she slept on the chair right next to her. Adam slept with his hand. She became sorry for her older brother because she was Adam to be troubled if Hannah was not naughty. It certainly won't bother many people.
"Abang," Hannah spoke softly, calling Adam who was still asleep in his sleep. Adam woke up from his sleep. His eyes twinkled, he was happy to see his sister was already conscious "What's sick?". Adam asked her little sister.
Hannah shook her head to answer her older brother's question "I'm okay – what you?"
"I called the doctor first."
Hannah forbids, bans Adam's hand, and forbids him from going "no need to bang, there will also be a clock from the doctor, so we just wait hmm?"
"All right, you want something?"
"Nothing"
"You don't get sick anymore, I'm sad to see it."
"Ck, I want it that way too, but it's a God-given gift so I have to accept it."
"Why are you so patient?"
"So, what should I do? Am I angry and cursed by God? It was a foolish act of brother, I accepted everything sincerely, for this is indeed my destiny."
Adam was stunned to hear his sister's heartfelt words, as calm and sincere as Hannah accepted her destiny. If it was Adam, he would have cursed God seriously, he would not have accepted that his life was not as fair as any other man.
Hannah who understood Adam's concerns returned Adam's hand to her. Hinting that it's okay. "I'm okay - what is Abang? Do you know that I am strong?"
Adam couldn't hold back his tears, he cried bitterly because of his sister's condition. Adam didn't say, Hannah, he immediately gave Hannah a warm hug. Then warmly kissed his little sister's forehead. "I love you."
"I love my brother too."
Let's remember the past, where Hannah had a disaster in her life.
A few years ago, when Hannah was in high school, she had an accident that injured her head. At that time the upper part of his right side swelled due to a collision that was too hard. The incident happened just like that when she went with her friend for group work. But misfortune even befell her. At that time Hannah was immediately run to the hospital to get help, and at that time the doctor did a follow-up test, namely a CT scan.
A CT (computed tomography) scan is a procedure that combines a series of X-ray images taken from different sides around a person's body. This examination uses a computer to create cross-sectional images of bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues in the person's body. This procedure shows a more detailed image than a regular X-ray.
Based on the doctor's diagnosis, the doctors explained that Hannah had a genetically inherited disease in the form of cysts in her brain. But the doctor did not elaborate further. The doctor only said if it wasn't a serious problem, so there was no need to worry.
But the reality was not as expected, although the doctor said it did not have a meaningful impact on Hannah's condition. But, two years after being interviewed by doctors at that time, Hannah often complained of headaches that made both parents worried.
Time continued until when Hannah was in the final stages of high school, she often felt so much pain in her head. She felt the pain almost all the time, but Hannah never complained to her parents or her brother. But one night, while she was studying for the university entrance exam, the pain was so intense, Hannah's rhythm was sicker than usual. Finally, Hannah can't bear to hold back her pain, and finally, Hannah complains to her parents about what she felt all along.
Hannah was scolded for not telling the truth. Hannah was advised to be honest about her condition, not to harbor her pain.
Due to Hannah's appalling circumstances, Hannah was taken to the hospital and will be examined again. After doing some examinations, the doctor recommends doing MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)only, to find out more about Hannah's condition. Doctors had seen Hannah's CT scan results two years ago, but doctors recommended an MRI to know more clearly.
Based on her MRI results, Hannah was diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst on her head. The first time listening to it sounded so shocking, it felt strange that he could have such a strange disease by his deafness.
Arachnoid cysts are fluid-filled sacs inside the head or spine. Arachnoid cysts develop between the brain or spinal cord and the membrane that covers the brain and spinal cord, called the arachnoid membrane. The fluid in cysts that are often found in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), a fluid that protects and feeds the brain and spinal cord.
Arachnoid cysts are more common inside the head than around the spinal cord. On the head, arachnoid cysts can be located between the brain and skull or inside the brain. Arachnoid cysts in the brain form in open spaces called ventricles that normally contain CSF (source: postdocs.id).
But doctors say if Hannah's cyst belongs to a primary arachnoid cyst where it is a congenital cyst that does not cause any symptoms - symptoms that mean.
Not only that, one month later arrived – suddenly experienced a mystical event where he could see ghosts aka invisible creatures. It happened at midnight. The night felt a tremendous pain in her head and all over her body felt stiff. Then she tried to move her body forcefully because so as not to get too carried away with the pain. But well, she can't. Hannah was too weak at the time. Then she chose to sleep alone, but the pain could not be compromised. She wants to sleep but her body is not supportive.
Finally, Hannah was forced to close her eyes, a few seconds passed. But the cold invaded her body forcefully and without any warning. She opened her closed eyes, and at that moment Hannah squealed hysterically because in front of her there was a deep black-haired monster and the color of his eyes was red. Indonesians used to call the monster Genderuwa. Genderuwa is a Javanese myth about a kind of jinn nation or a delicate creature that resembles a large and stocky ape with reddish-black skin color, its body covered in bushy hair that grows all over the body. Genderuwa is known the most.
Fortunately, Hannah didn't fall for a long time. Thanks to the radio broadcast that he accidentally listened to first, managed to make it realize that what befell all human beings was the gift of God. So Hannah shouldn't regret everything that happened in her life.
One of the sounds of the verse that managed to make Hannah realize was,
"Whatever you have is his. Whatever pain, sorrow, happiness that happens is a testament to His majesty in his servant. He's just admonishing you to always remember him. Whatever it is as a slave, you should always be grateful. For by such we can find the key to open the door that Has been provided by Him, where the path that has been available to His servant will be passed if we can be His servant who believes in His decision."
Alex's verse came out when he first heard his radio broadcast the first time. Hannah realized that everything was a gift and that she should be grateful. Without having to complain and just live it, as it should. That's right, it has to be that way.
"Are you daydreaming, Hannah?" Adam's voice surprises Hannah who is in a relationship with her past where she remembers the first time she was diagnosed with her illness and her ability to see an invisible figure.
"Heh?" replied Hannah vaguely, she was in a daze now. Hannah fell too deep in her mind to make her lose concentration.
"Heh — heh, why are you? I was invited to talk to you to be quiet."
Hannah shook her head, "I'm okay, brother."
"Don't want your story?"
"I'm fine – please, stop overthinking about me."
"But you can't lie to me, Hannah."
Hannah breathed. Wrong indeed, if she lied to her older brother. "I was just a long time ago."
"When you got a disaster first?" Adam guessed on target.
"Yes,"
"Don't think about it, hmm. You said you had to be sincere."
"Yes I know, but his name is also a man. It will have greedy nature like I am right now."
"You must be strong and can, okay?"
"Definitely! Hannah is a strong child."
"Good girl," Adam said with a sweet smile, then his hands outstretched to stroke the top of his sister's head.
"Ahh yeah, next week I have a social service event are you participating in?"
***
Three days had passed after the events of that night. Alex still thinks about Hannah's situation. He wants to visit, but Alex has time. The work is too crowded and hard to leave behind. And finally, today arrived, he was free and intends to visit Hannah in the hospital to make sure of her condition. Since Alex last lived, Hannah was unconscious. Alex thought that Hannah's condition at that time was very serious, because of the pain she was in.
"Where are you going, Al?" Brian asked the friend who looked neat in the morning. Whereas usually, Alex is still comfortable with a cloth sarong and t-shirt in the morning.
"Go to the hospital."
"What are you doing? Are you sick? I'm going between if that's it." Brian asked again,
"Ck, no need. I'm not sick."
"Then?"
"I want to see Hannah."
"Ahh, the girl you helped a few days ago."
"Yes, then I leave first," Alex replied briefly, then passed away leaving the friend who was sipping his black coffee.
Note:
Sarung is a piece of wide cloth sewn at both ends so that it is shaped like a pipe/tube. This is the basic meaning of the scabbard that applies in Indonesia or one in the places. In the international fashion sense, sarong means a piece of wide fabric that is used at the waist to cover the lower part of the body (waist down).
Abang is calling for little brother or sister to old brother.
