The Storm

1284 Words
The sea was becoming agitated and angry, a massive storm on the horizon. Black clouds rolled in like tumbleweeds through an open desert, coating the sky in darkness. Wind whipped against our faces with gale-force intensity and soon huge waves were cresting high above us as we hoped for mercy from Mother Nature's ferociously unpredictable wrath. “We're almost there” The Alpha wolf cut through the cold waters of the sea with expert precision. “What's our plan?” one of the young wolf asked. The Alpha wolf stopped and turned around to face him, his eyes piercing through the darkness like green stars twinkling in the night sky. He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could utter a single word, a thunderous roar from above shook them all to their very core. The storm was looming in the distance. Dark grey clouds were rolling and gathering, pushing out against a bright sky like an oncoming army of doom. Thunder rumbled in the distance as lightning flashed. The air had gone still, a harbinger of what was soon to come – wild winds and sheets of rain that would lash down upon them all too soon. The Alpha wolf glanced around at his companions, who were all looking up with growing fear in their eyes. "We must find shelter quickly," he said, his voice calm and strong. "This storm is not something to be trifled with!" The group started to resume swimming in search of safety. The wolf had been traveling far and wide for weeks , but he had a feeling that this storm was not like any they had encountered before. Suddenly, in the middle of the storm, a strange light appeared on the horizon - a single spark that shone brighter than all other stars in the night sky. The wolf stopped and stared in amazement. It was then that he noticed something else - a siren swimming towards him with an air of determination and urgency. The squall had been rushing towards them, foaming with its angry waves. Then suddenly they heard the siren, weathered and wild like a banshee's cry; it was carried on the headwinds as if to check their very souls. It silenced every cry of nature in its wake: birdsong and crashing surf alike were exiled by that piercing call. They could feel the storm sinking into rest even before clouds began to part in blue heavens above. Little did he know that the ancient and mysterious siren had come to his aid in the nick of time. She was a creature of incredible power, more than willing to assist this brave and vulnerable canine against a force beyond her control. The siren had been watching them from the safety of the water and could sense their impending doom. The pack of wolves had been swimming in the sea for hours, the current propelling them with an indomitable force. As they emerged onto land and walked upon damp sand beaches, their fur glistened like liquid gold in the fading light of day. A low howl echoed through their ranks as they performed a homage to this new found adventure across tumultuous waters; a triumphant cry into lands unknown. Little did they know, a silent observer lacked amongst them. The siren peeked out from her secret hideout, secretly drawn to the mysterious animal that has made its way into her solitary world. Curiosity ignited within her and compelled the siren to make contact revealing herself in all of her aquatic beauty. The pack of wolves spun around in shock at the unexpected intruder, yet something in their eyes shone with an understanding of what was to come. The alpha wolf stepped forward, the twilight sky illuminated its thick fur, revealing a constellation of stars that looked just like the ones that peeked out of the sea. The siren looked like a woman made of moonlight; She had an extremely beautiful face with almond shaped eyes, gently upturned corners of her lips and long dark lashes that framed her delicate features. Her skin was silky smooth and shimmered in the dark like a thousand diamonds, and her eyes thrummed in an obsidian hue ,her long reddish black hair cascading down her back as if it had a will of its own. Each twist and turn was an exquisite expression of emotion released from deep within. The movement was artful and effortless, like waves against the shoreline without knowing what lay in wait beneath them; each bit slowly unraveling until it reached freedom with full abandon just as she swam closer. She spoke in a voice like rolling thunder-words that echoed off the cliffs and across the sea. "I am Thassa Alon, daughter of the sea” she announced. “Who are you and why do you venture here?” The wolf bowed his head, silent in the face of her strange beauty. He was hesitant to answer, but his heart beat like a drum within him, urging him forward. Drawing a deep breath he straightened himself and spoke with an air of awe; “I am Adilus Rune, an Alpha of this pack from lands beyond. We have traveled far and wide for a new home, a place of safety and security for us all, and it looks like we may have found that here.” The siren listened intently, her eyes shining in the moonlight. She understood his plight, for she too had once been an outsider in search of a new home and the courage he showed gave her hope. Reaching out with her slender fingers she touched his paw lightly before smiling warmly and saying “Welcome then Adilus Rune, Wolf of Stars. May we together protect this place from the evil that threatens us both.” The wolf's fur was soft and luxurious - a midnight black, with silver tips that seemed to shine in the night. He stood silently beside her, his eyes locked on hers. She could feel the intensity of his gaze as it burned through her core. The wolf's fur melted away, and a man took its place. His face had an alluring symmetry.Thassa couldn't help but gaze into his eyes; they were the rich, warm color of sardonyx – inviting and comforting with flecks of gold. They seemed to be full of secrets, nearly as deep and mysterious as their owner's soul; it was almost impossible not to get lost in them. She had never seen such beautiful eyes before and found herself captivated by them. His hair was long and black and hung loosely down his back in waves, framing his face in a way that made him appear alluringly mysterious. He stood there completely unclothed, yet his lithe body seemed immune to embarrassment. His skin was like marble; the muscles in his abdomen were perfectly defined and highlighted by the light emanating from an unseen source. His n*****s were two hard little pebbles and a patch of dark hair trailed down between them until it met its end just above where he began again at his naval. Though the siren had never seen him before, something inside her was telling her that he wasn't like any other creature she'd encountered; as if they were destined to meet. Despite a voice of reason in the back of her head telling her to stay away, curiosity eventually won out and she found herself drawn towards him. And so began a friendship between two unlikely allies; the Wolf of Stars, Adilus Rune and the undersea siren, Thassa of the Sea. Together they guarded their home from danger and explored it's depths discovering things neither had experienced before.
