It took a lot to convince Jay to leave her alone the next day. They woke in the hospital early enough that he could hold her close on a slow walk back to Charlie’s house, without other wolves nosing in on their business, but actually getting him to leave after that was a nightmare. Jay fussed around her with the precision of a dutiful housewife; fetching drinks, tucking her into blankets and plumping pillows. The only thing he was missing was an apron tied around his waist. Eventually, Charlie’s patience faded and between gritted teeth she kindly asked the Alpha to leave.
