The night was long. Charlie tossed and turned in her sleep, watching every hour tick by. The brief spells of rest she managed were filled with vivid dreams of the waterfall, her vision encompassed with red as the flowers overflowed, burying her and Jay as they made love. Whenever she woke, her body was acutely aware of the chilly absence of her mate, her wolf whining for Jay to be next to her until Charlie fell into the depth of sleep again. It was a relief when the morning came, and she had an excuse to get out of bed. Her body ached, a low satisfying hum still skimming over her skin from her date with the Alpha last night. Thinking about Jay pushed away the sleep deprived headache from blooming, and it wasn’t much of a burden to keep her mind on her mate and his attentive touch. C
