Chapter Three:A dangerous invitation

642 Words
Isabella didn’t know how long she stood there, frozen under Alessio’s grip. Time seemed to stretch, as if the world outside the elevator had ceased to exist. All she could hear was the pulse of her own heartbeat, the quiet rhythm of fear and fascination mingling in her chest. Alessio’s hand remained around her wrist, his thumb brushing lightly against her skin. It was almost casual, but it felt like a claim—one she wasn’t sure she could deny. “I told you,” he murmured, his voice like velvet against the silence. “Once I have your attention, you belong to me.” Her lips parted, but no words came out. She wanted to argue, to tell him that he had no right to do this, to control her with nothing more than his presence. But the truth was, she felt powerless under his gaze. She could see it now, the truth in his eyes—he wasn’t just intrigued by her. He wanted her. In every sense of the word. “Let go of me,” she finally managed to say, her voice quieter than she intended. For a moment, it seemed like Alessio would refuse. His eyes darkened, and his lips tightened into a thin line. But then, with a sudden motion, he released her wrist, though the look on his face told her this wasn’t over. “You’re bold,” he observed, stepping back. “I like that. Most women would be trembling by now.” “I’m not most women,” Isabella snapped, her breath shallow but her resolve hardening. He chuckled, but it wasn’t a mocking sound. There was something else in that laugh—admiration, maybe. “No, you’re not. But don’t mistake your bravery for foolishness. You don’t know the danger you’re standing in.” “I can handle myself,” she shot back, though part of her knew that wasn’t true. Not when it came to someone like him. “Do you?” Alessio tilted his head slightly, his gaze never leaving hers. “Then tell me, Isabella… what will you do when I make you an offer you can’t refuse?” Her breath caught in her throat. “I don’t want anything from you.” He smirked. “Everyone wants something. You just haven’t realized what yet.” The elevator dinged, and the doors slid open. Alessio didn’t move, standing there like a shadow, blocking her escape. “Stay with me for dinner tonight,” he said suddenly, his voice low, almost a command. “We’ll talk. I think you and I have much more to discuss.” “I’m not having dinner with you,” Isabella replied, stepping back, trying to maintain some space between them. “Not even for business?” He raised an eyebrow. “I promise, no strings attached. Just a meal.” She didn’t believe him. Nothing about Alessio Moretti came without strings. But part of her wanted to hear what he had to say. There was something about his presence that called to her, like a siren’s song. She hated herself for even considering it. “Dinner won’t change anything,” she said, though her voice wavered slightly. His gaze flickered with something unreadable—amusement, perhaps, or a dark promise. “We’ll see.” Then, without another word, he stepped aside, allowing her to exit the elevator. But as she passed, his hand brushed her arm, a touch so brief yet laden with weight. “Think about my offer,” he murmured, his voice soft but firm. “You may find you have more to gain than you think.” Isabella didn’t look back as she walked away, but his words clung to her like a shadow. She didn’t know how, or why, but somehow, Alessio Moretti had just turned her life upside down.
