The air is filled of smoke. And all I can see for miles, is nothing, but burnt grass and trees. The world almost looks as if all life is gone. How did it become this? As my eyes scan the horizon, I eventually locks eyes with Ryder's icy blue eyes. He looks pissed. "I don't...how?..." My voice barely makes out the words. I look down at my feet, not able to look at his gruesome gaze. "Lilith, you need to know that this was you're doing. Just like the dead man was your doing. And the burnt spots at the dinners table. We need to go somewhere private so I can explain more." He turns on his heels and walks in some unknown direction. I trot to his side, not saying a word. I look up to him and he doesn't seem so mad anymore, he just seems frustrated or I don't know, disappointed in himself. "I'm..sorry" I mutter as I stare back down at the black ground. My feet make a uncomfortable crunch sound every-time my foot makes contact with the dead grass. "Please, we can talk in a minute." And with that we say nothing more.
After walking for what feels like hours, we reach Ryder's house. I never expected to be here. He walks up the porch and unlocks the old wooden door. He has a lovely house, it feels very homey. And looks like a farm house. The inside is just as nice. With all modern appliances and walls. "Do you live here alone?" I ask out of pure curiosity. "Yes, I do" He seems very tense right now. So I don't continue the conversation. He take's me into a small living room, with absolutely amazing decorations. "I'm gonna make some tea, want some?" What an odd question. No one has ever asked me if I wanted tea. "Um, yeah sure." He exits the living and entering the kitchen. I sit on the couch and immediately feel like I am in heaven. It's so soft and sooooo comfy. I take off my worn shoes and pull my legs on to the marshmallow like sofa. Before I knew it I was out like a light. Then my peace is ruined by Ryder shaking my body like crazy. "Hey! Wake up. No time to sleep." Ugh f**k him. I can never just have something nice. "Fine, fine. I'm up. How long was I out?" He grins at me like I am playing with fire. "You've been out for about 7 hours. I needed to go pick some stuff up." What the f**k? How? Oh crap I forgot about his tea. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." I feel heat creep up my cheeks, as I am slightly embarrassed. "It's okay, you needed to sleep a little." He picks up my legs and throws them off the couch so he can sit down besides me. "Hey! You could have said excuse me." I stick my tongue out at him. "My couch, my house. Your point is?" Rude much? Wonder what's up his ass. "Look, Lilith we need to talk." No s**t, I didn't know that.
After a few moments of silence. Ryder moves closer to me so our bodies are almost touching. He wraps his arm around the back of the couch, so it's circling around my spine. I guess he's trying to make this as causal as possible. "So are you going to explain things to me?" I keep my head down, twirling with my fingers. Suddenly Ryder grabs my jaw and forces me to make eye contact with him. "If we are going to talk, you need to look at me" He let's go of me and drops his hand onto his lap. "You need to understand that you are not normal by any means." I start to shake, unable to control it. Even if I try to bite the insides of my cheeks the shakes don't stop. "You also need to understand from this moment we will train to control what lives in you." I nod my head quickly, trying to rush the conversation. "I can't exactly tell you everything now, but everything will make sense after awhile, just remember you are important and people need you. More then you can imagine." I clench my hands around the edge of his couch pillows. Why can't he just tell me now? "If you think I can't handle it, then you are wrong." I can feel the fire within me wrap around my arms. Please not again. I try my best to suppress this madness. Without hesitation, Ryder grabs my hands and cups them in his own. "I think you are perfectly able to understand everything, but i can't be the one to tell you. It's better for everyone if you learn yourself. And I know, you know deep down I'm right." I let out a huff of hot air. But the odd thing is I can no longer feel the fire in me. He soothed it. "Sorry..." My voice trails off as I pull my hands away from him. I hop off the couch and make my way to the kitchen. And following my trail, is none other then Ryder. "Don't be sorry for something you can't control." I keep my back towards him. I know if i add on to his words I will lose it. "Please just drop it." I walk around his granite island. Hoping to get away from his scent. He always smells like apples and sweet rain. "cup's are in the top cabinet, if you are thirsty." I open the one he say's to, and try to reach for a glass cup, but I'm to short to reach it. With little warning Ryder's front presses into my back and grabs the cup for me. "Thank you." My face lights up with an unbelievably redness. I trot over to his sink, trying to avoid his stare. I fill the glass up with Delicious water. I feel so dehydrated. I bring the cup up to my soft lips. But Ryder catches me off guard as he whispers into my left ear. "You need to eat too." I drop the drink onto the floor and it shatters into a million pieces. "f**k! I'm so sorry." I whip my head around to see a wicked grin play across his beautiful face. I brush past him to get the broom against the wall, and to my luck I step on a big shard of glass. And it dig deeps into my foot. "Ouch, ouch, ouch." Ryder rushes for me and puts his arm under me to support me. "Here, you sit down and I'll go get a first aid." He sets me down on one of his bar stools. And darts upstairs and I am left alone. My foot surges with pain and I see my blood drip onto the tile floor. I keep making messes where ever I go.
Ryder comes back downstairs with the first aid kit in his hand. "Stick your foot up on the counter." I do as he says and blood spills on to the polished surface. He takes out a pair of thin tweezers and attempts to pull out glass."OW! Fuck." He grabs my foot, hard. And takes the shard out with such swiftness, I barley feel it. "Thank you.." He doesn't say a word to me as he put's everything back in the red box. And still nothing as he walks to put it back up. Fine, I'll play your game too. I step off the stool, to see if I can walk on my injury and to my surprise, I can. I look around the kitchen, sinking in all of my surroundings. I spot the fridge and make my way over to it, hoping something sweet is in there. I open the door and all he has is f*****g veggies and meat. Yuck. I reach for the freezer in hope of some ice cream. "You know, you really should eat something better." I ignore his comment and rummage through the shelf's. "Do you have any ice cream?" Please say yes, Please say yes. "I do, but It will cost you." He smiles at me and it makes me want to punch the f**k outta him. "What do you want from me?" I rest my hand on my hip, rolling my eyes in the same motion. "Punch me." What? Why would he ask me to do that? "Uh, why?" I say in a sassy tone. "Do you want your ice cream or not?" Ughhhhh f**k this guy. I move for him and ball my hand into a fist. I aim and take a hit for him, but the mother fucker doges my attack. "Oh come on, we are doing this? I just want food." Before I can react he swings to punch me and his fist makes contact with my fragile face. I fall to the ground in agony. "Ryder! What the f**k!" I spit the words out as I clench my stinging face. "Come on, hit me." I gather myself and stand on my feet. My head pounds as if lighting and thunder are within it. I stare at him with a distasteful look, hoping he can feel my anger. Once again I clench my hands together and focus on his stupid f*****g face. I take a swing, and this time he doesn't have time to get away from it. My fist slam into his face with an unimaginable force. I scream as I make contact with his body. Ryder goes flying and hits the wall, hard. He makes a loud grunt as he slumps to the ground. As I am pulled out of whatever trans I was in I stare at Ryder with disbelieve. "Omg! I'm so sorry." I run to him and help him up, as he get's up he makes a whining noise from his throat. "Are you okay?" I ask him with worry. "Ugh yeah, I'm okay. That was good. Ready for your ice cream?" He let's go of my arm and walks to grab the gallon of mint chocolate chip from the freezer. I rush to swipe it out of his hands. "Do you at least want a spoon." I nod my head with greed. He gets me a spoon and I dig into the bowl of ice cream almost devouring half of it in less then five minutes.
After my feast of sweets I lay on the comfy couch as Ryder types something on his laptop. I suddenly yawn and feel my eyes get droopy. "Tired?" He asks. "Yes, a little." He closes the computer and sets it down on the wooden coffee table. "You can sleep in my guest bedroom, come on I will show you to it." I follow him up the narrow steps and as we reach the lovely room I let out a heavy sigh. I can't wait to fall asleep."You can sleep here for the night. I'll go get you some pj's real quick." He exits the room and I jump on to the soft bed. Does everything in this house have to be some damn comfy.
"I couldn't really find anything so you can just wear one of my shirts and sweats." He hands me the clothes and I thank him for everything he has done for me. "Well I'm going to sleep, let me know if you need anything." I don't say anything as he closes the door behind him. Finally. Alone time. '
