Maité

For the next few weeks I learned as much about the new world as I could. I learned the customs of the Kajians, like how one celebrated when a child was born or what to do when invited to a wedding or funeral. I learned how to cook some of the regular dishes of the Kajians, how to do laundry in the city, where to get clothes, and where to find Koryn and Kit. Which I figured out were only a human year apart. Now I was learning the different tattoo work and colors to people’s eyes, and what ‘clan’ that color and work belongs to. It shocked Beth and Maddie, seeing how easy it was for me to learn all the different things that Kaja had to offer.             On the other hand, I was inching closer and closer to Koryn and Kit. Both took every chance we could to see each other. The only thing I has yet to figure out was what was the significance in the ring that Kit gave me and what the two brothers’ keep saying to me. I’ve asked several times, but they just keep saying, ‘one day, you’ll find out’.             Working for the old man, who’s name is Donvo, had been interesting. Not many people came by the stall, but everyone seemed to know who the old man was. He was kind of a legend, a legend who I loved already and was slowly teaching me the language. Everyday at the markets, Kit stops by to say good morning and in the afternoon, Koryn comes by. The brother’s knew of their involvement with me, and it was strange. It seemed to amuse them. I didn’t question it too much.                               Then came something I was not used to on Earth. Apparently, Kaja…has a mating season.                 I woke up, thinking it was a regular day, yet in the back of my mind I knew something was different. The air seemed thicker, and everyone seemed to notice. Maddie and Beth were at the table when I walked in. Both looked concerned.             “Milady, you know Kajian customs better than us. What the hell is going on?” Beth asked with a small sigh.             Not realizing what she was talking about, I shrugged. “What do you mean?”             Maddie got up and went to their window that faced the fence with the markets. “There’s something you might want to see.”             I followed her to the window and felt my jaw drop to the floor. All around the fencing were two times more guards than regularly. I hummed for a moment and shrugged.             “I don’t know what’s wrong.” I watched for a second. “I’ll ask the Reye’s what’s going on.”             I got dressed in Kajian fashion, a deep red crop top with off the shoulder sleeves, and a long skirt with a slit so high up the side that it ended at the top of my hip. Unlike most of the other human’s, I was adapting to our new world. To be honest, I loved it here. There was nothing for me back on earth. A father who abandoned me, and a grave. That was it. So, I was accepting Kaja without hesitation.             There was a device that Koryn had gave me for a way to communicate with him and Kit, so, after I was dressed and had my bracelet communicator I headed out. The air felt almost sticky and smelled sweet, this was definitely not the normal Kaja atmosphere.             I approached the gate that I used to go to work with Donvo and gestured for the guard to let me through. “Can I go to work?”             The Kajian shook his head. “No, monet. No humans are allowed to leave the complex today.”             “Excuse me?” My eyes narrowed as I took a step forward. “On who’s orders?”             “The High General.”             “Oh.” I said surprised.             The High General was the top in command of the entire Kaja military. If he ordered it, then there must be a reason for it. I huffed my disappointment and tapped my bracelet, the Kajian in front of me looked surprised I even had such a device.             “Milady, now is really not a good time.” Koryn answered first. His voice seemingly more husky today if that was even possible.             I rolled my eyes. “You say that every time I call you.”             “Every time you call, it’s always a bad time.” He said sarcastically.             “How are you today, luvana.” Kit asked, he too sounded different. His voice deeper and raspier.             I smiled a little. “I’m fine, except I’m not allowed to leave and go to my shop. What’s with the elevated security boys?”             “I hate it when you call us that.” Kit said sadly. “We’re men, grown and…I have a gun.”             “Shut up, Kit.” Koryn groaned. “She’s just racking up points to be punished, that’s all.”             I snorted. “You keep saying that, and yet, here I am. Still as defiant as ever. Now, come on. Tell me why I can’t leave? And why is the air hot and sweet?”             They were silent for a minute and I thought they had gone.             “Milady…the reason is…” Kit started but trailed off.             “Your too appropriate, Kit.” Koryn grumbled. “It’s Maité season for us Kajian’s. That’s why the air is the way it is, that’s why you and the other humans cannot leave the complex.”             I froze. “Wait…like deer? You have a mating season to reproduce?”             “Not…exactly.” Kit said with a sigh. “It’s a time for us to find and bond with our destined Maité.”             I could feel Koryn roll his eyes through the bracelet. “That was a gentle way of saying it, brother. It’s like this, Milady. The single male Kajian’s are trying to hunt down and find their Maité’s in the four day’s that the season lasts. You need to stay in the complex. Me and Kit have to be on patrol, I’ll be in the market and Kit is going to be around the western complex. So, for the love of the moons, STAY IN THE COMPLEX!”             Feeling the heat rise to my cheeks I huffed. “You can’t tell me what to do, Koryn. You have nothing, so, what makes you think I’ll obey you.”             I swallowed hard. I could literally feel Koryn’s anger through the communicator, and for some reason it was turning me on. I could hear Kit groan, letting the air out of his lungs slowly.             “I wouldn’t push him today, luvana. It’s not the safest thing to do.” Kit sighed.             From the tone in his voice, I nearly believed him, but I felt like the atmosphere was clouding my judgement. “Don’t care. Koryn always bosses me around, and I just don’t feel like listening today.”             “Milady…I hope for your sake, that you listen.”             “I think he cut his communicator off, luvana.” Kit said quietly. “Please, go inside with your friends and have the day off. We’ll see you in a few days.”             I swallowed hard at the thought that just crossed my mind. “Hey, Kit? Koryn said all the single male Kajian’s, does that mean you and Koryn are looking for your Maité’s?”             Kit took a moment before answering. “No, we already found her. But don’t worry about this, luvana. You are the only girl in our lives.”             Somehow this made me a little more relieved, but something still felt off with the brother’s. “I wasn’t meaning…I’ll see you later.”             With that I cut off my communicator. I had a weird feeling that the next four days was going to be stressful.                 I took the brother’s advice for the first day. Beth, Maddie, and I stayed in and talked about everything. Still, without work, the day seemed to drag. Finally, it was over and I was in bed trying to sleep. It seemed like as the day went on, our subjects changed from our jobs, to Kajian men. I explained the whole Maité season and why the air was the way it was. Maddie thought it was funny, but Beth, not so much.             After talking with the girls, I couldn’t keep my mind off what the guys told me today. The sheepish way Kit was speaking, and the sharp rough way Koryn was. My mind hazed over, getting caught up in itself. I couldn’t help imagining what it would be like to be with them, both of them. I wanted not one brother, but both and it made me feel like an i***t. How could I be so drawn to both of them? I wanted to know what it was like to touch them, kiss them, be under them, and on my knees in front of them. My mind replayed things over and over. I sighed as I felt how wet my panties had gotten with my fantasies.             Finally, my eyes closed and I let my mind slip into sleep
