Chapter 22

1131 Words
Amelia's POV Pain. That is what was coursing through my body. No matter what I tried to do in order to block it out, there was no helping the situation unless I got to a damn doctor and I do not trust a soul here. Judging by how everyone got here, someone would do something stupid in order to get out of here on a low, or if they value life too much, then they would just do what they can get and survive this hell hole. I was creeping around in the basement. I wasn't sure if there were cameras here but I was getting the hell out of here. I was crawling around, under the cars, looking to see if one would get me somewhere. I wasn't sure how I would get inside of the cars, but I know they were locked but someone had to be dumb enough to leave at least one of them unlocked, right? Couldn't hurt to check. I got out of one of the cars and immediately started to check the doors. Locked. Locked. Another one, locked. Damn, not one car unlocked? This was stupid! And the pain in me was getting worse by the second. Suddenly, I felt a little hand and I wanted to snatch mine away from it until I saw who it was. Secret was there, holding her stuffy with her pajamas on and some slippers. Her face could tell a tale of how expressive her emotions were. I slowly got down, bending my knees and wincing in pain until I was able to look her in her eyes at the same height. "Watcha... doing down here?" "Are you...are you leaving... me?" "I was... trying to figure out the car situation but... it doesn't look like anything is going to work in the mean time, since I cannot get a car open." "But you are... planning on leaving..." The sadness was evident in her voice. She looked down with a disappointed expression and I held my side tighter than I did last time. "I cannot stay here... longer. As you can see and probably have seen before, the longer people stay, sometimes it comes out good, but then sometimes it comes out very bad and I don't want to stay for when the bad comes." "Well... then... can I come with you?" "Come... with me? Wait... that... that is a big step and coming with me would be insane because-" "You are leaving me? But why... I thought we were friends." "We are friends." "But you're leaving me here! You are leaving me! You said we were friends and friends don't get left behind! You're just like everyone else who says one thing and then turns your back when the situation is better for you! You're not my friend! You lie!" "Secret stop! I am your friend! Don't say I am not because, honestly, I wouldn't be in the situation I am in if I weren't your friend. I am.. just saying... coming with me...and staying with me is a huge step! You will no longer see your dad, this house..... nothing. You will no longer be able to come back if you come with me. So I am asking... as a friend.. do you really want to leave and never come back?" "Can my stuffy come along with us?" She asked as she held up her teddy bear. I looked at her with a soft smile and took her hands. "Stuffy can come." She smiled and gave me a strong hug and even though it was hurting the hell out of my body, I still was able to wrap my arms around her and give her a warm hug. "Lets get out of here then." We continued to search for one of the cars. I already know if this man is like Antonio in just a little bit, he has a tracker on this car and would be able to track down the car like it is nothing. With luck though, we were able to find one of the cars in the back with an unlocked door. Told you there would be one person because if we didn't get at least one car... we were screwed. I went to open the door and felt a tug on my shirt. I looked down at Secret and she motioned for me to come down to her level. I kneeled down to her height and she whispered, "What about the gate?" "The gate?" "There is a gate at the front of the entrance. There are three guards in the front, also to leave the garage, you need a special code and have to scan your face before you leave." "How... do you know all of this?" "I was in one of the cars that was leaving and no one noticed me. That's how I know there is a park near by and that I want to go to it." "You... sat in the car... all day until you got back home?" "Pretty... much. It was boring... and hot. They left the window open though, so it was good." It was pretty shocking that she was basically stuck in a car in order to get outside to enjoy some air or try to enjoy a bit of her childhood. This was a tough time and I could honestly see why she wanted to leave in the first place. Being a child, stuck here with no contact with other humans and just existing instead of living must be horrible and painful. Especially with him as your father. "How... do you propose we get out of here then? If we need codes and stuff, there is no way we can get out of here on our own." "Do... what I did then. Get into a car and wait for it to pull off. When the cost is clear... run." She said while smiling up at me. However, who knows when the hell knows when someone will drive the car with us inside of us in it? That could possibly take days... hours... possibly a month before someone- I was pulled out of my thoughts when Secret was pulling me to one of the cars. I didn't notice but the door was opened now. I blinked and she climbed into the back seat. I carefully climbed in behind her and she threw a blanket over us. I couldn't see anything but the waiting game was now upon us. I could feel Secret reaching for something and I gave her my hand. She held it tightly and from then on, I came to this conclusion. She was eager to get out... or very nervous that we were going to get caught and be in so much trouble.
