Jade’s POV
The police car’s tyres screeched as Bryan floored it out of the station lot, lights turned on with the siren wailing like a wounded animal. My hands shook on the door handle. Each second that passed felt like another nail in my coffin. Elena had escaped, because of me. Because I’d let her cuff me, f**k me, play with me like a rookie fool. And now the entire force was mobilizing because of my f**k up.
