Chapter 21

At first, I was too tired to attend my 3 am training, but after I was done, I was relieved that I kicked ass and thankful it was only an hour. Dominic praised me for picking up my critiques but insisted that whatever had happened to me last night, should not happen too often. I agreed with him, though I had no idea what he was talking about. Hopefully, I will find some understanding of what happened because this morning I woke up wearing new jewelry and a large bite on my neck. This has got to stop happening. . . After my mother made me take hundreds of first-day pictures, I finally arrived. The second the doors opened, my eyes were met with multiple pairs. The hallway was filled with chaos and I had no idea where to begin as they all watched me curiously. I’m not exactly sure why. It’s been two months, but I guess I’m interesting to look at. Off to the left, I saw the boys huddled into a group. On the other side of the hallway I could see Dalton, Angelina, Bridget, and Aiden, or as I like to call him, a mini Jaylon. Personally, I find him annoying. I’m pretty sure he’s just a replacement for Nick. My attention was taken from the chaos around me as I suddenly struggled to breathe at the sight of my mate heading my way. Jaylon’s eyes started at my legs and his smirk grew until he met my eyes. Loren walked beside him, but I couldn’t care less. None of our surroundings mattered. When our eyes are locked, we don’t need a mind-link or mate bond to know what the other is thinking or feeling. We curbed our secret desires as Jaylon and Loren came to a stop in front of their group and I made my way to the boys. Nick smirked down at me. “I see my girl’s finally grounded,” he commented as I stopped beside him. “I don’t remember a thing.” “Damn, we were wondering what went down with you and Jaylon. He left with you pissed and came back very upset,” Ethan admitted. “She probably lit his ass up,” Seth laughed from beside me. “Whatever it was, he sure as hell didn’t get lucky,” Jacob laughed with him. I rolled my eyes at them both. I mind-linked Nick while everyone talked around us. He told me to the best of his memory of everything that happened and the chaos that came after Jaylon took me home. Nick danced around the truth of what happened. He wanted to leave out the Loren part of it until we could decide how to go about it. I wanted to wait for the girls, but Nick said they’re usually late and walked me to my class. I sat in one of the middle seats. A boy sitting to my right looked like he wanted to be left alone. Me being me, wasn’t going to accept that. “Hi, what’s your name?” I asked as Dalton sat in the front of the class, next to the door. He smiled at me and mumbled good morning before looking at the front of the room. The boy looked up at me surprised that I was talking to him. “Hi, I’m Jheremy,” he replied, with a slightly confused expression. “I’m sorry, I’m new, but do you mind explaining to me why these look like some witch-type classes?” I asked, pointing to my schedule. “They are actually to teach defense against witches and their practices. Now, if you don’t mind me asking, why are you talking to me?” he asked. Judging by his tone, he wasn’t being a d**k, just curious. “I like meeting new people. Am I not allowed to talk to you or something?” “No, talk to me all you want, but usually the main group pretends everyone else doesn’t exist unless they have to,” he admitted. “Not much of a diverse group then,” I commented, making him let out a light laugh. “Ah, you got him to speak,” a brunette girl cut in, making my attention switch to her as she sat beside the window, to my left. “It isn’t hard, all I asked was his name,” I responded, smiling up at her. “Hmm, I don’t stay in the packhouse, but I see why everyone's all torn up about you,” she commented as I gave her a confused frown. “Pretty and nice,” she elaborated. “All I did was ask his name,” I responded. “Which is more than any of your friends have done their whole life,” she explained as the teacher, who I was told was Professor Itzel, walked in. Dalton was sending us a weird look, before looking up at her with a charming smile. Ah, I see my cousin is also a teacher’s pet. “I’m Sarah.” “Nice to meet you.” “I see Miss King has finally made it to Saint Christopher's Academy. I hope that you are a fast learner,” was the first thing she said, giving me a kind, but challenging smile. I smiled back at her, queuing her to continue. She passed out old textbooks and everyone groaned. In my next class, I sat yet again in the middle. Now, before you think I’m weird, if you sit in the front you’re assumed to be called on the most, if you sit in the back, you seem like you're hiding. I was in the perfect spot. Jheremy sat beside me again and showed me his schedule. We had all of our classes together. Penelope sat behind me, to my relief, as I watched Bridget take her seat in the back. There was an empty seat left beside me, but Bridget didn’t want to be around me. Professor Vancise walked in, dropping his things down on his desk with a loud thud. “Alright, welcome to Sacred Geometry, where you will learn the meaning behind ancient symbols. Everyone, take out paper and pencil. I am handing out your books, copy the pages 30-35,” he instructed, dropping books on desks, one-by-one. I heard the door open one more time and Jaylon appeared beside me. He looked annoyed at the only seat left open and went to the back of the room, making some other kid get up and sit beside me. I rolled my eyes at him for being an ass as I watched him chat casually with Bridget. Okay, I get that our little “relationship” is secret, but he’s playing his part too well. When I saw a bite on his neck, barely hidden under his collar, my eyes widened. That made him smirk before he stopped glancing at me. Oh. What did I do? Am I still a virgin? I mean, I feel like I would somehow know, but how would I? “Your boyfriend is a real charmer!” I heard in my head, letting out a soft giggle as I glanced over at Jheremy. He momentarily saved me from worry and for that I was grateful. “Thankfully, class is only forty minutes long.” He gave me an agreeing nod and I started copying the pages, paraphrasing. I was the only one who did that as these idiots took a whole forty minutes to draw some triangles and circles and write a few words. When class was over, I waved off Penelope and went to follow Jheremy to my next class, only to have my wrist grabbed. “New friend of yours?” Jaylon asked, with dark, jealous eyes as the professor walked out, closing the door. Coward. I backed up into a wall as he followed. “Yes, you should take the time to meet him.” “I don’t have time, you seem to be occupying my plans for the day,” he responded, running his hands under my skirt to rest on my hips. “This outfit has been killing me all morning, it makes everything easier to access.” “No! Wait, did we mate last night?” “Remember, you wanted to get a head start on our pups?” “N-no! I don’t remember that at all!” “Well, you were determined. Very hard to say no. . .” “Jaylon! Did we mate? Yes or no!” “I’ll be over later.” He rose up and placed a soft kiss on my forehead and backed away. His gentleness left the second he did and I was met with an evil smirk. “Make sure your new friends remember who you belong to.” Then he was gone. I left not long after him, going full speed to class to avoid being late. I sat behind Jacob, who turned to face me. Bridget sat in the very back again, occasionally sending me a glare. Jheremy was reading one of his books, apparently not comfortable talking to me with Jacob around. “What happened?” “Nothing, why?” “You look very lost,” Jacob pointed out. “Oh you know, the first day,” I lied. “You know I can smell Jaylon on you, right?” he questioned through our link. “Does that lovely mark have something to do with it?” “Probably.” He readjusted to face the front as our Demonology class started with professor Wittrock coming in late complaining about his last class. He doesn’t like the kids who actually ask questions after class. I looked at Jheremy and mind-linked him, “What’s wrong?” “You’re mate didn’t hurt you, did he?” “No, he was talking to me about something happening later.” After Demonology, I met my friends in the cafeteria. Julia started, “You guys! Have you heard about Jessica and Matt mating this morning? She was bragging about it in my first period!” I rolled my eyes at her and Penelope froze with an open mouth. “That’s surprising. . . why?” I questioned. “Because they mated! In human terms they got like- married,” Penelope explained. “Hmm, I always saw myself as a walking down the aisle kind of girl. Guess that’s what I get for spending so long daydreaming,” I mumbled. My mood has completely changed. I was fine all day, now I was worried about whatever went down between me and Jaylon last night. If I’m not a virgin, I feel I should at least be made aware of it. “Ali, what’s wrong with you? You seem annoyed,” Seth pointed out. “I’m just wondering where Jheremy is,” I lied. “Who?” Jacob asked. “Oh come on, tell me that wasn’t true!” I complained. “You guys seriously need to branch out! The guy that was sitting beside me ten minutes ago!” “Oh wow, you’re in a mood,” Nick commented with wide eyes. “Why would we do that?” Benny questioned. “At least learn other people's names. Who knows, they might save your life one day.” They all let out a laugh at that and I rolled my eyes, giving up on them completely. “He’s in the library. Want me to take you?” I turned to see Sarah standing behind me. I smiled up at her and nodded. We headed in the direction of the library as my friends boo’d from behind us. Jaylon sat boredly, listening to Loren talk as we passed their group. “Why do you deal with that?” She asked. “I have found that guys learn the most when you let them do it by themselves,” I lied. Normally I’d take my own advice, but we remember what happened last time. “Or they forget about you,” she commented, causing my eyes to widen. She opened the library door to reveal Jeremy doing homework. I smiled at him as I walked past, looking around at the collections. We were the only ones here and the only thing lighting the room was a large fireplace and some candles along the wall. It was the perfect setting. “Why aren’t you two in the cafeteria?” Jheremy asked, looking back at me. “I’m not just leaving you in here alone,” I replied, grabbing a book with my grandmother's name on it. I looked up curiously above the fireplace to see a painting of my grandparents, parents, siblings, aunt, and uncle. I walked up to them and smiled, scanning the canvas with my eyes before taking a picture. Who knows how long this will be up here. “I’m used to it,” was all I got in response as my other friends busted into the library. I turned to smirk at them, knowing they wouldn’t last long. They knew I was right. I smiled to myself as they greeted Jheremy and Sarah. Sarah froze as Jacob walked up to her and it melted my heart. Jacob, being a boy, thought it was weird. Seeing the Alison and Jaylon of this situation, I am now taking bets. “Happy now?” Nick asked in my ear, standing beside me. “Very,” I replied with a warm smile. When 9:00 hit, I followed Jheremy and Seth to the Herbalism lab. Mason is in this class. Professor Plenskovski walked in, slamming the door shut, and demanded we all find our lab partner who would be with us the rest of the year. The boys, or shall I say children, began arguing over who got paired with me then complained about how unfair it was when the professor chose a boy named Tyler to be my partner. I smiled up at him as he flashed a flirtatious one. Afterward, I had history with Angelina, Julia, Loren (eww), Jheremy, and Jacob. It was more entertaining than most history classes. Next was the Potions lab with Jher, Ethan, and Nick. Professor Calvello wasn’t that bad, but he wouldn’t care if you lost a finger. I was relieved when I reached my final class, Latin. Jheremy and I sat together as Dalton and Jaylon walked in. Sarah walked in behind her with one of her friends. “Hi, my name is Alison,” I greeted the girl fangirling beside me. According to Sarah, she’s been having a panic attack all day. “I know! I’m Autumn!” she glowed, grinning ear to ear. “It’s so nice to talk to you!” Hopefully, she will eventually be comfortable around me. I smiled back at her and turned my attention to Professor Mechner. Her eyes shot to me when she saw my name on her list. “Ah, Miss King, I heard you speak some Latin yourself,” she started, smiling at me. “Volubilem.” “It is nice to finally meet you, my dear.” “Dimitry! You’re supposed to cover me!” I scolded as my player died. “As you can see, I am very busy!” he threw back, watching the screen intently. “See, that’s Karma for being a bad teammate,” I smirked as he died. Everyone knows that keeping your teammates alive is your best chance at survival. Not Dimitry though. He thinks he’s better off on his own. Maybe in single-player mode, but not when you have teammates. He doesn’t understand that his real-life strength and ability have nothing to do with game characters. “It’s not my fault you died.” “Yes, it is! You did not cover me!” “Well, if you didn’t die, we would both still be alive!” “Fine. I’ll play single player then.” Video games are the only time Dimitry lets his guard down, so I use them to my advantage. “So this is how you spend your time without me. . .” I heard from behind me. “Not exactly. We occasionally play tennis,” I smirked back at Jaylon. I turned to Dimitry to see that he already considered me gone and started another game, so I sighed and jumped off the chair. “You have lots of explaining to do,” I warned, grabbing Jaylon’s hand and pulling him out of the theater. “I didn’t take you as the video game type.” “I wear many crowns.” “You might have to wear another pretty soon.” We reached my room and I shut the door before he pulled me to the bed. “What do you mean?” “You remember our conversation earlier. Or did you forget that too?” “Jaylon! If you got me pregnant, so help me! How could you? You knew I was out of it and you still mated with me?” I began to lose it as he pressed kisses to my neck, only stopping after I let out a growl. “Come on, you know I’m joking. Of course, I wouldn’t do that to you. I want you to remember when we mate.” “So then what happened to our necks?” “You are very convincing,” Jaylon whispered beside my ear. “Makes it hard to do the right thing.” “What actually happened?” “Well, I gave you some very expensive jewelry for our anniversary. Then you tried to mate with me. I attempted to entertain you with a movie but you wanted to kiss my face and confess your love for me until you fell asleep.” I hate wolfsbane. “Anniversary?” “Baby, calm down!” Jaylon went back to teasing me with kisses as I tried to fight off their effects. “I think now is the perfect time to mate.” “Wait, now?” “What’s wrong? Don’t you want me to be eternally obsessed with you?” “I want you to be all mine before that occurs.” “I will be. It will be so easy. It will be just you and me.” His words echoed in my mind as my eyes closed from the feeling of his lips on my mark. At the moment, it felt like the perfect thing to do so I answered by pulling his lips up to mine. Jaylon began tearing my shirt open but stopped when both of our heads snapped to my bedroom door. It opened to reveal Jacob, whose face lit up. “I f*****g knew it!”
