Chapter 17

Ase

Dimitri took me through the forest to a secluded area. He said it was his quiet area for him to get away from duties and relax. It was beautiful, what he called a secluded area turned out to be a meadow. It had wild plants surrounding the lake in the middle. Trees that were so tall and old kept the shade in certain spots. A blanket was lying on the floor with a basket sitting on it.

He got Shannon to do a picnic for us with just some snacks as we recently had lunch.

''Dimitri, this place is beautiful. Thank you for bringing me here, I've never seen anything like it!''

''I'm glad you like it, little one. This is my little spot to get away for at least 5 minutes.'' He said, looking around with a small smile on his face. ''The other reason I brought you out here is because I thought it was about time for you to meet my dragon, he has been very displeased with me not letting him out, but I wanted to give you time before you see him to make sure you were comfortable. At training, seeing you was fine. I thought it was time for you to meet him. If you are ok with it, of course.''

''Of course I would love to meet him! Does he have a name? Like the wolves do?'' I was so excited to meet his dragon, I had so many questions to ask before he changed. Can he speak in his changed form was the first one I needed to ask, need to know how to communicate with each other.

Laughing Dimitri told me his name is Sverre, and it means wild, I would understand when I met him. He is an old and wise but a free spirit.

Before I could ask more questions, especially about why Dimitri's dragon was different, he started his change.

The magic swirled around him, and his magic was black with silver. Everyone else I see at the training grounds had blue and silver.

It didn't take long at all for the change to happen before me stood the most magnificent dragon I had ever seen. His scales were an onyx color. Up close, you could see other colors, purples, blues, and reds. It was like the rainbow was inside his onyx scales. He had a small horn on top of his nose and two long horns on top of his head. He stood taller than the other dragons. Fire blew out of his mouth, but it was not a normal fire. It was blue.

Looking down at me, Sverre leant down and rubbed his nose against me making me laugh, I scratched under his chin, and he started purring that was very gravely, it could be heard in his chest. He was so beautiful, I couldn't take my eyes off him, I was in such awe I got to meet him. His eyes was hard to tell apart as they looked like the night sky on a starless evening just pitch black.

'Hello, little Angel, I finally get to meet you. Would you like a ride?' Shut the front door he speaks!

''You speak!?'' I shouted out in excitement. His freaking dragon speaks!

No one really knows of dragons, just the stories passed down over time from when they used to mingle with the packs, they was still secretive but somethings couldn’t be hidden like when they changed. You couldn’t trust fully in the stories as somethings get changed or left out.

Sverre looked as if he was smiling at me, as much as a dragon mouth could. ''Of course, my little angel. I have heard this is a legend in some places from before when the packs knew us, only some stories remained true. Now, how would you like to go for a ride, my little angel?''

Sverre lowered himself down and laid out a wing for me, I bounced around to his wing, he used his head to help me up. When I got on his back I see he had two little horns on the back of his neck. I held on to them and he took off. My heart dropped out of my stomach at first with the pressure going up in the air and high we got, I have never been this high, the highest I have been is climbing a tree. I managed to get my bearings quickly adjusting to the height.

We flew over the tribe, everyone who saw us waving, I waved back. It was amazing to feel the wind through your hair, the sun shining down on your back, this is what the wolves must feel in their wolf form but on the ground. Sverre scales were very warm which surprised me, must be from his fire inside him. They did not shine in the light of the sun, it was as if they absorbed the light into his scales. He would be perfect in the shadows blending in and not being seen.

After a while of flying around, we went back to the meadow.

Sverre helped me off the same way he helped me on. I ran to his front and gave him a hug as best I could hug a dragon chest and thanked him for the most amazing ride ever!

His wing came around and gave me his version of a hug, I see he had what looked to be like a hand but claws.

Dimitri changed back to his human form and his clothes was still on, jeans and a t-shirt in his color, black. The magic the dragons had kept their clothes on instead of ripping out of them like all packs do. Only my pack who kept the magic was able to this. I was very thankful my pack had this magic so I didn’t have to see naked bodies, especially my family if when they shifted.

We sat on the blanket, enjoying the sun that was coming through the gap in the trees, eating the sandwiches, the side dishes and drinks.

''Thank you, Dimitri, for letting me meet Sverre and for Sverre taking me for a ride on his back. That was the best thing ever! Today, I just can't get any better. Thank you.'' Learning over, I gave him a kiss on the cheek.

We sat at the meadow for a while just enjoying each other and taking in the beauty, when it started to get dark, we started packing up and we made our way back home. It was a bit of a walk as we were on the other side of the territory. I didn’t mind as it gave us more time together.

Outside sitting under the gazebo was Katy and Conner. They looked happy, a true mated couple. I was so happy for them to have this chance to get to know each other and enjoy their time together. Katy was laughing at something Conner said. They looked up and saw us, waving us over, so we made our way over to them.

''How are you both?' I asked them. Katy explained they had been talking and getting to know one another. Just enjoying each other’s company, they were not thinking about planning the future just yet as William still lingered on their minds. Conner is looking how to break ties with the pack so he is here, looking to see if a spell to make it like he has died to cut ties, that way they will not look for him.

Katy and Conner have not marked each other yet as they want to take it slow, which is not uncommon for some species, but very rare for wolves. I believe only the royal wolves have to wait to mark their mates.

That evening, Damion's parents, as well as Dimitri's parents, joined us for dinner again, I thanked Shannon for the wonderful picnic. We all chatted about our days. It was just so peaceful. Slowly, we all went our separate ways to get things done, Dimitri took me to his office upstairs. He just needed to investigate a few things.

I looked at his books on the shelves, so many different things to read, I pulled down the book that said dragon history, making my way to the sofa reading I was engrossed. Dimitri was on his computer sorting some paperwork for his businesses in the human world. It helps to run the tribe, keep money going, and the tribe people who want to live out that way with the humans, work in his building with their mates.

I suddenly jumped awake, Dimitri picking me up to carry me to bed.

''Sorry to wake you, little one, go back to sleep we are almost to our room.''

''I'm so sorry for falling asleep Dimitri, what is the time?'' I asked, rubbing my eyes, yawning, I don't remember falling asleep. I hope I didn't break the book it looks old.

''It's ok, little one. It's gone 1pm, I took a little longer than I should have, I’m so sorry about that.'' Dimitri laid me on the bed kissed my forehead, passed me my pjs and he stepped into the bathroom to change. Wearing his usual just his joggers, he slipped in to bed. Turning off the lights, I got into our nightly position and when my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light, I don’t know if I dreamed that night.
