Chapter 14

Ase

In the morning at breakfast time, we went to the dining room to sit with my mother and father to go over all the plans as Dimitri needed to get back to his tribe.

Sitting at the table where mother, father, Odin, Loki Gunner, Katy, Conner, Damion and Dimitri and me. Warriors on the other tables.

We planned on leaving in a few days, as Dimitri extended the days, he knew it was important to me to be with my family. He then surprised me with what he said next.

''Katy and Conner. I would like you to join us for a while. It would be nice for Ase to have a friend there in the tribe as she settles in. Also, it will give you both a chance to be mates and bond.'' I think we were all surprised as no one is invited to the dragon tribes.

''Are you sure, King Dimitri, you do not mind us being there? We would not want to intrude on you.'' Katy quickly spoke. I could see the hope in her eyes she could come. Dimitri had told Katy and Conner his true identity as he trusted them.

''Of course! I wouldn't have it any other way. Everyone back home is looking forward to meeting you all. Damion sent out words to the tribe about our arrival and what our next steps are. Also, the reports back on my mate have made them wonder when they will get a chance to see her, and Katy, please just Dimitri.'' Dimitri smiled down at me as he said this. I couldn't believe it. How can you end up falling in love with someone and then fall even more! Yes, I started to fall in love with Dimitri this week. Of course, the bond helps move us along, but the way he has been with me all week has just melted my heart.

I never thought I could get a mate, let alone have a relationship. I thought before when I did think about a relationship It made my skin crawl, what if they was just like the Pinewoods pack, nasty, abusive? It took a long while so I could handle training with men, in training of course it is touch to the body in a fight. I've learned over the years how to deal with it and get used to it. I honestly thought I would always be alone. But Dimitris' touch, smell, and just his presents make me so happy and wanted. I have never felt scared or repulsed by his touch. I felt safe and warm.

I looked over to Katy and Conner, they were so delighted to be coming with us and seemed to be in their own world. Leaning onto Dimitri’s side I sighed a happy sigh. I could have cried, I was so happy my best friend was going to be with me and be able to bond with her mate.

This will be good for them as you never know who William has got to spy for him. I trust my pack wholeheartedly and know they would never betray anyone, but William could have planted cameras or listening devices, maybe outside the pack someone watching, can never be to careful with him. Until the pack house has been fully swept and cleared, we keep a low profile on speaking, the dining room and kitchen have been cleared for us to speak.

Dinner was full of excitement and happy family moments. I wouldn't let it get me down that this will not be an everyday thing for me anymore, but I will cherish all the memories and moments I have.

Three days later it was time to say goodbye. We ended up staying just an extra day instead of the two. I was so grateful as it gave me more time with my family, but I am also excited to meet the tribe. Dimitri had some tribe members to come and scout the route we would be taking back. I am glad it is only 3 hours away from where we are in my pack, I will not be so far away from my family.

All my bags have been loaded into the cars that were sent down from the tribe, my whole ten years here have been packed up into boxes and now they are going to be transported to the tribe, my new life. Thankfully I always kept minimal, so it was two cars of boxes and one car of clothes.

Saying goodbye to my parents and brother was extremely difficult. Angus was another hard one to say goodbye to, along with Odin and Loki as well as their mates. They were all my family, and I will not be seeing them every day.

Katy, of course, lightened the mood with how much she packed. 4 suitcases and 6 bags! You would think she was moving. She explained that she needed an outfit for every occasion, all weathers, and so on. Conner made it even funnier when he saw how much she was packing the look of horror was the icing on the cake. He had hidden the extra suitcase on the warrior bus, once he knew of the secret compartment as he had packed everything up. When they arrived on the first day, he had managed to sneak out that night to retrieve it and hide it in his room.

Dimitri and Damion spoke about driving taking turns if need be. Damion was just happy to hit the road and get back to his mate. Dimitri kept me cuddling up to him on the ride, telling me more stories. Damion told me all about his mate as I kept pestering him about her. Her name is Shannon. She is a female dragon. She has strawberry blonde hair and gray eyes and is slim. She is 5ft 10 compared to his 6ft 8.

They kept my tears and moping mood at bay that I had left my home but will see my parents again soon for the ceremony, and they don't live far away. They can always visit and, when we get time, visit them.

In no time at all, with Damion’s driving oh lead foot, we arrived at the tribe in record time. It was nothing like I expected. It was just beautiful.

There was a gate in the forest, and guards were standing there. When they saw us pull up, they bowed and lifted the gate to let us through. The scenery was all nature, grass freshly cut, beautiful different colours and styles of flowers around the walkways and outside people’s homes. The homes were just something different. They were made from what looked to be clay. They were huge, chimneys were installed to let the smoke out from cooking, Dimitri said. The other difference was the clay on the outside. They had different colored homes, they were so vibrant and beautiful.

Dimitri told me they use clay homes as when the youngsters are close to shifting, it can come at anytime, so imagine having to make a new house with bricks and walls all the time, the only rooms with walls and doors is the bedrooms and bathrooms, everything else is open plan. Using clay to build their homes if someone changes in to their dragon it will not hurt the person changing and can easily rebuild the home quickly.

The homes looked so unique and I loved it.

Dimitris' home or, as I would know it, the pack house was massive, the colour was gorgeous. It was dark grey, reminding me of a thunderstorm. The windowpanes were painted gold. The front door is also gold. Wild poppies, blue bells, and primrose could be seen in the front garden near the home. It really brought colour to the home but not overtook it. It was beautiful.

I can't wait to see the inside, if the colour scheme went through the house.

Driving up to the house I see a lot of people there. A lady and man were standing on the porch. They reminded me of Dimitri, just an older version of him. Next to them was another older couple with a lady who, by her looks and what Damion described about his mate, must have been her with Damion's parents.

We pulled up to the front steps, the crowd cheering as Damion and Dimitri got out of the car. The people on the front porch came down and greeted them. The lady I thought was Shannon turned out it was. She ran to Damian's arms, they were so adorable.

''Thank you for your welcome back, everyone. It is an honor. But today I would like to make it about someone else. Someone special, my mate Ase.'' Dimitri belted out so everyone could hear him. As he said to my mate, he held out his hand to me and helped me out of the car.

Being so short, some people had to tiptoe to look around the car, some started to grumble they couldn't see well. So, Dimitri led me to his parents. I bowed down to the former king and queen.

''Oh Dimitri, she is so beautiful and well-trained in greetings. Please stand up, my dear, let me get a look at my son's mate.'' The former queen said to me.

I stood up and looked up. The former king and queen greeted me, and the former queen even hugged me. I was not expecting that.

Katy and Conner were introduced to everyone also.

We looked back at the crowd. Everyone was cheering, but one girl at the front had a look of hate in her eyes directly at me. She looked like a jealous ex-girlfriend, but Dimitri told me he had never been with anyone before as he wanted to wait for me, his mate.

I had a bad feeling about her.
