Chapter 15

I don't think anyone picked up the girl at the front, she made me feel uneasy, but I trust and believe Dimitri. Maybe it is because I am not a dragon and that has always been the way, dragons have always had dragon mates by the Goddess and we have broken the tradition, I do not think there have been outsiders like me mated to a dragon. I'll talk to Dimitri soon about this as I do not want to enter his tribe on bad foot or cause trouble with his tribe.

The former King and Queen welcomed me and told me their names are Elodie and Acacius. Everyone cheered, happy Dimitri had finally found me, some couldn’t believe how small I was, they were happy knowing I was a warrior, so I would be good in a fight to protect the tribe.

I got taken inside the house, and the inside of the home was just as beautiful.

High ceilings and chandeliers throughout. The walls are off-white in the hallway, flowers in vases on wood and grey sideboards. Wallpaper of nature on one side and family photos on the wall opposite.

Downstairs had a living room, a cinema room, a dining room, and a kitchen. Dimitri had an office just off to the side of the front door for anyone in the tribe needing to speak to him about any problems. He told me it was smaller than the other office he had as it was more homely being smaller and better for the tribe, it makes it easier being at the front door, the tribe members who needed to see him would not need to go through the home to find him or worry about going upstairs to his office up there.

Up on the next floor were two offices, Dimitri and Damion’s, a conference room and two guest rooms, up another flight of stairs is our bedroom, a spare room, and his parents' room. They said they are building a home for them to move into for when Dimitri found his mate, so when we start a family, the rooms would be free. I swear I could have stopped traffic with how red I turned. Elodie and Acacius thought it was funny with how shy and embarrassed I got with them saying about grandchildren.

Katy and Conner were going to be staying in the guest room downstairs. It would give them a chance to bond in private. I was so happy they was here with me, it felt nice to see familiar faces.

''We will let you get settled in, dinner is at 7pm, we are so glad Dimitri has found you sweetheart, you are so beautiful and perfect for him.'' Elodie said to me, Acacius nodded in agreement, I felt my eyes well up, and she gave me a hug before leaving.

''I told you my parents and the tribe would love you, little one, you have blown them away already.'' Dimitri said, sliding his arms around my waist from behind, putting his head on top of mine. He had to slightly bend to do this.

I felt so loved and welcome to his home and family, I felt how I did when I met my mother and father, how they took me under their wing, so patient with me. Now I have Dimitri and his family.

I was enjoying the moment but I knew I had to say something about earlier, I do not want to leave it and cause problems. Looking up to Dimitri I finally spoke up.

''Dimitri, I don't want to cause any problems, but one girl, she was at the front of the crowd, and she looked so mad when you introduced me. I wasn't sure if I should say something or not, but as I say, I don't want to start in your tribe with trouble, I know we have broken the tradition with the Goddess pairing us and it must be hard for some tribe members to accept me as I am not a dragon.'' A look of anger came over Dimitri when I told him this. Did I upset him already. Worried I have overstepped, I went to say I was sorry, but Dimitri kept me in place kissing the top of my head.

''Its ok, little one. I see that also, that is Michelle, she is one I told you about. As her dad is high status in the council, she and her dad believe she should be the queen by my side. I have refused to even acknowledge the idea. She is a power hungry b***h, she does not care for the tribe, I feel sorry for who would be her mate if they are low status. Thankfully she is just a visitor as her dad is here on business. She is your Ashley only she only has the knowledge of the royals as her dad is on the council.''

Wow, who knew a second Ashley existed? If I wasn't so worried about being in a new place, I think I would have laughed. Mabey, later, I got to let Katy know to be careful of her later.

Dimitri showed me around the room where everything was and where I can unpack all my stuff. He showed me the bathroom and walk in wardrobe, the doors was next to each other, got to make sure I don’t get them two mixed up if I wake in the middle of the night. The wardrobe Dimitri had all his clothes and items on one side and the other side was empty. When I looked at Dimitri, confused, he explained he kept the one side empty for when he found me.

Dimitri helped me put most of my stuff away, and just before 7pm we made our way down to dinner. Elodie had made all the food and it made my mouth water, it smelled delicious. I couldn't wait to get stuck in. Dimitri took me over to the table and pulled out a chair for me to sit down, it was one of the circular tables so we could all see each other and talk. I asked Dimitri if his mum needed any help, but she walked in to the room and told me to sit down she has it.

Elodie and Acacius sat the right of Dimitri, Katy and Conner next to them, I was on Dimitri's left, next to me was Damion and his mate Shannon, next to Shannon was Damion's parents, Cordelia and Yosef.

It was a wonderful meal and I was having such a great time, they was all telling me their stories of their day to day life in the tribe and told me even though they are royals they are very private and do not have staff, instead they act like the family they are. The only time they did give out jobs to the tribe who volunteered was when we have visitors, they was paid for helping, just like how my pack was run but without the pay as we was just rotated to a job.

Everyone was great so down to earth for a royal family, it did surprise me but I felt so much more comfortable. They said they would never let a title get to their head and make them power hungry. You helped the tribe, and you are the leaders to help the weaker ones, the elderly and children. or hatchlings as they called them.

Living here will be great, just like my pack it is going to be easy to keep my routine as well as learning their ways and being trained to be the next queen.

I still can't wrap my head around that a queen!

Elodie and Acacius told us their story for when they met.

Elodie was from another dragon tribe when Acacius was doing his visits, that’s how they met. Elodie was mistreated as she was classed as a weak dragon with weak magic. She had kept secret with how strong she was.

Her parents never knew how strong she was as they were all for her brothers and older sister as they were strong. They wanted to be warriors for the royals. They thought her sister would be the next queen. Elodie didn't like the way they were with wanting her siblings to be in a higher status to get power, so she kept secret to her magic. She knew they would use her as a weapon, or knew with how strong her magic was they would push her to the royals to get their foot in the door.

Turns out they got a big surprise.

Acacius surprised her family that day when he told them she would be going with them as she was his mate. They tried to convince him her sister would be the better mate to take as she is stronger, and Elodie was just weak. Acacius dragon had lost control and nearly killed her tribe believing they were trying to take her away. She managed to calm him down with touch and said his name for the first time.

She cut all ties with her family that day, not that they have not tried to contact her. Having your daughter in the royal family was a big deal.

''Its amazes me how people want power, but how cruel they can be to get it also, your first lesson I will train you on how to spot and put a stop to it quickly-'' As Elodie was speaking to me, a knock come to the door, interrupting Elodie.

As if things couldn't get worse but perfect timing for what we was talking about in rolls Michelle.
