Chapter 8

Ase

We walked to the office where father and mother will be meeting us.

Dimitri stood very close to me not letting go of my hand. Gunnar supported me by saying I wasn't much of a talker, but a great thinker laughing at me, stupid brother, but got to give it to him it has helped me a bit.

My head was spinning! Every time I looked up, I could see Dimitri looking at me. My cheeks would go bright red. He had that smirk on his face as if he was enjoying it, but I can't get too comfortable. I need to let him know I do not know what I am, who I am, and most importantly, my old life, how I ran and maybe wanted me still. I am sure my old family has not given up looking for me, I do not want to bring danger to his tribe.

My whole life, I was always told by my uncle and so-called family that I would not get a mate. I was an affair baby, I was a disgrace to the Goddess. When I joined this pack, I never spoke about it, and everyone respected my wishes. I don't know what to expect. I thought I would be alone forever.

I guess I should have spoken about it. The king of all people is my mate.

Gunnar and Dimitri chatted together. Dimitri moved his hand from mine and put his arm around my waist, keeping me close.

I felt warm and safe standing next to him. Even with that stare that feels like someone is burning holes in my head is still there, I just didn't care.

*Are you ok, Ase? Gunner said we need to come to the office. * Mother mind linked me.

*I think so, King Demitri has claimed me as his mate. * I answered walking past where they were seated. I see my mother's head whip up so fast I'm surprised she didn't give herself whip lash. She looked extremely surprised and happy.

*Me and your father will be down soon! I can't believe my baby has found her mate. Let's hope for your brother now! *

I couldn't help the little giggle slip out with that. The boys both looked down at me. I could feel my cheeks heat up.

''Sorry just talking with mother, she and father will be down soon. Be careful she's on the mate thing again.''

My brother looked horrified. Mother will not let him live it down. She would always mind link him to see if he had found her yet, when he went on trips, he had to update her if he has or hasn’t found his mate.

All wolves had a mind link to each other. When I entered the pack, my father gave me a potion to help form a mind link with the whole pack.

Dimitri looked amused by what I had said. I am sure he is going to start winding up Gunner, they look like best friends that like to annoy each other.

I looked over to Williams' section and saw he was staring straight at me, a glare on his face, calculating. I knew that look on him. He was planning something. I see his hand go down and grab his crouch looking like he was turned on licking his lips.

Ashley next to him, who stood out like a sore thumb in a bright pink dress, glaring also. She did not look happy me standing with the boys. Huh, she must be on her hunt for a new bed partner. Never changed any of them.

Dimitri must have felt me stiffen when I looked up at William as his eyes followed where I was looking. Ashley quickly pulled the front of her dress down a bit to show off her cleavage and threw back her hair. William was still looking, but the glare disappeared. He had a look as if he was thinking. He really is giving me a bad feeling.

''What is up with them two? I noticed the boy had been staring through the tournament at you, little one. I also noticed the girl next to him. Is she a mistress or something? All she has done is eye up the men and lust after them with her eyes.'' Dimitri asked, causing me and Gunnar to laugh out of surprise. That was the best I had heard.

''They are the Alpha and Luna of the Pinewood pack. I heard she was his chosen mate. He rejected the first mate for not having a title. He is awaiting his second chance, mate. That is why she is not marked, and they do like to sleep around.'' Gunnar explained. Well, I didn't know that. I thought they were mates that somehow slept around.

Looking towards Ashley, I noticed no mark. I never bothered to look before. As for William, with a second chance he would be lucky, rejecting a mate, you may as well slap the Goddess. Unless it is due to abuse, then you do not reject it.

''Hmmm, I feel we need to keep a close eye on them two. I do not trust them.'' Dimitri says, feeling the same as what I do.

''Dimitri, I think we should go to the quiet spot now. I need to tell you about them. It would be better if there were no listening ears. You can bring along your second also.'' Everything needs to be told to Dimitri before we can be fully together. He needs to decide if he wants to stay with me. He looked off towards his second, who sat next to Dimitri. He came down to greet us using the stairs.

''Gunnar, you know Damion, Damion, this is my mate Ase.''

''It's wonderful to meet you, Gunnar has told us good things about you.' Damion smiled at me. He had a mischievous glint in his eyes.

''Nice to meet you too.' I gave a little bow out of respect for Dimitri's second. Dimitri raised his brow and tried to lift me up.

Damion laughed and explained, "You are Dimitris' equal, his Queen. You do not need to bow to me.''

Dimitri quickly filled in Damion. We headed to the house to our father's office.

This chat is going to be hard. Just like the day I had to tell my mother and father about what happened 10 years ago when I was found. It was hard to muster the courage to go back to those memories. I hope Dimitri still accepts me.

Sitting down in our seats, my hands were twisting together, Dimitri took one of my hands in his large hand, I felt safe again and felt myself relax a little.

''Alpha William, the one who is staring. He is my so-called cousin. As you know, Aric and Lori adopted me when I was 14.'' Nodding their heads, I carried on

''I had fled the Pinewood pack, I couldn't stay there anymore my life was hell before I came here. I'm not sure if he knows who I am.''

I told my whole story about the abuse, physical and mental, the starvation and the worse of all the 4ft cage I had to stay in as my sever punishment.

How I was not accepted into the pack. I was an affair baby. Not knowing who I am, what I am. It was strange to get that off my chest again.

I really felt like crying, my heart was beating out of my chest, just having those memories resurface and my mate hearing all about it, made me feel ashamed, I wish I could have fought back or ran earlier really done a plan and escaped but I was too small to run.

I looked up and see Dimitri and Damion looked pissed. They looked ready for murder when I had finished my story.

I felt Dimitri wipe my cheeks, not realizing I had started to cry through telling my story. I felt the shame wash over me again, my mate having to hear the horror story, that I was not normal and just a nobody. I really want to break down as I am sure he wouldn't accept me when Dimitri spoke again.

''It's ok, little one, I am here now.'' Dimitri, put his hands on my face cupping it, holding my head up to look at him. For a large man, was extremely gentle with his hands.

''I do not care for your old pack nor do I worry about them, you are my mate and what ever species you are I accept.'' Dimitri looked so gentle when he said that to me, my mate accepted me.

My heart leaping for joy and the dam broken I broke down crying out of happiness. My mate accepted me! Thank you Goddess. Dimitri picked me up put me in his lap just holding me, whispering words I couldn't understand as I held him tight as if he will disappear.

When I calmed down we chatted more about William. I told them the gut feeling I have had the past few days how something is not right.

They agreed with me about William and seemed to be planning something. They also noticed the way he sat looking over.

How he turned up two days early. We all agreed that we would keep a close eye on them.

''The beta Conner, I have been told has been talking to the pack asking all the different questions, he seemed to be very interested in us. But it has been noticed that he also seems to keep his distance from William and Ashley.'' Gunnar said. He must have been informed about them by other members when he came back from his trip.

''I noticed Conner doesn't seem happy when he is with them two. It seems he is uncomfortable and not wanting to be here.'' I spoke up. Everyone looked at me to listen.

''The first day here, Katy and I had a classic Ashley moment of her calling us omegas to get out the way and all that jazz. When William walked in, she ran to him with crocodile tears.

Conner came down the stairs hearing it all going on but kept back on the stairs hiding. As we were walking back into the kitchen, I saw he looked furious and like he could strangle her it was when no one was looking him. Guess he has been witnessing too much the Ashley crap.''

This got everyone thinking and wondering what was up with Beta Conner.

We all planned out what to do. I think Conner doesn't seem to be interested in what they are doing. Katy said there was something different about him. When she saw him in the distance, she felt something different. She needs to really look into his eyes to know more, but she just has a feeling. I will always trust Katy and her gut instinct. I let everyone know this.

When mother and father joined us, we filled them in on everything.
