Chapter 10

Ase

The tournaments carried on after the short break we had. When they finished, we went to the fields for some food and a good BBQ.

Everyone mingled and ate, all having a good time. Warriors exchanged notes with other warriors. Alphas Beta and Gammas all spoke, the Lunas spoke with each other.

I felt good that I told Dimitri my story and he still accepted me. He told me he is keeping his identity a secret, no one knows who the royals are, but the other secret he is keeping is that he is a dragon as he doesn’t want anyone to put two and two together.

A lot of people have never seen him and when they visit his tribe, they must sign an agreement they are not allowed to speak of their visit. It is only the dragon tribes who have seen him, same us as we have a wolf royal family only their pack knows who they are.

The secret identity is to keep his tribe safe. He was just introduced as Gunnar's friend from another pack. People didn't question it as he let off this aura to stay away. A dangerous vibe.

He told me, whispering in my ear, that his dragon was not happy with all these people coming to be nosy, a dragon had a different more powerful aura then the wolves as dragons are the oldest supernatural’s alive. It did make me laugh at him, my silly dragon.

He had told me stories of being a king, his tribe, his family, and how the dragon side of the council on his back about marrying another dragon, as he has not found his mate, being 34 they are getting desperate, the rule is also no cross breeding it must be a dragon or nothing at all. Dimitri was having none of it, he only ever wanted his mate and that is final. He will go through hell and back to keep me at his side now he has found me.

The worst part was a council member has been desperate for Dimitri to marry his daughter, and Dimitri said even if he had no mate he would never marry her as she was just the same as her father, after money and power, they would give away who the royals was and put everyone in danger. He couldn't stand her and his family didn't like her as they knew what she was after.

William seemed to be doing his rounds with Ashley latching on to his arm like she was superglued to him.

Glaring at all the women who seemed to say hello to them, but lusting after the males, even the mated ones.

She is a disgusting person.

Katy seemed to be a bit on edge. She told me she had smelled her mate but couldn't point to where he was.

Something was wrong, she said. She felt it should be a secret, but not sure why. William and

Ashley started to make a beeline for us.

Just fricking marvelous what we need is them two.

I was standing with my brother, Dimitri, Damion, Katy and Frida, our other friend.

Katy's back was put up when she saw them make a move for us. I am going to have to keep a close eye on her. Make sure the omega name doesn't come up.

''Hello everyone, how are you all? Thank you for inviting us to the trials. 'It has been an eye-opener,'' William said, smiling wide, but not reaching his eyes. Ashley was just batting her eyelashes at Dimitri and Damion.

They both ignored her and kept looking at William with straight faces. I could feel Dimitri stiffen up and get angry. I rubbed his back to try and calm him down. He promised not to say or do anything until the time was right, when I was ready to.

Dimitri looked down at me and gave a little nod and smile at me.

I could see Ashley furious in the corner of my eye. She wanted to do something but was too scared to let go of William in case someone spoke to him and took away her title, truly sad. Maybe she has also been put in her place. Daddy was not here to help her.

''Thank you for coming, Alpha William. I do hope you have enjoyed your stay so far. Your warriors did good out there today.''

Gunnar spoke with William, but when he mentioned the warriors, Williams' face fell, and he got angry.

''Thank you, Alpha Gunnar, but they could have been better. They were just sloppy today. 'They will be working extra hard when we get back,'' William said in a very clipped tone.

''So, are you not going to introduce us to everyone?'' Ashley pipped up, still eyeing up Dimitri batting her lashes at him.

''My sister Ase, her friends Katy and Frida, and two of my friends from another pack.'' That's all Gunnar was willing to say. He didn't want to give away too much. Letting Dimitri and Damion say who they are in case they have other names to go by.

''Why should we tell you who we are? All you do is stare with lust in your eyes at all the males and have been staring at us all day how disrespectful to your mate on your arm.'' Dimitri spoke up. I knew he wanted to say something to her as he was right all she did was eye up every male.

Ashley looked taken a back, not knowing what to say, and looked to William, her face flushing red, but William knew he could not bail her out of this.

They made their way to another alpha and Luna before a tantrum could be thrown or embarrass themselves further.

As we were settling back down again to relax, Katy grabbed me and said "Mate''. She didn't look so happy. I looked where she was looking.

Beta Conner.

Katy said Beta Conner is her mate!

I want to be happy for her, but also, I don't know if it is a good idea as he is from the Pinewoods pack. What is he like? Is he like William? Has he been corrupted? I was worried about Katy. I know she can hold her own, but I worry. I worry that if he is a good person, would my past put her off. I know Conner did nothing to me and never spoke to me, but with Katy, she would be disappointed as he had done just that, nothing.

Katy didn't look so happy. You could see the hesitation in her eyes. Frida was looking between Conner and Katy. I could see she was getting into a defensive position, ready to protect Katy. We all seemed to be on the same page, protecting Katy.

''Beta Conner, how are you?'' Gunnar broke the ice when Conner made it over to us.

''I'm very well thank you, Alpha, thank you for inviting us to your trials. 'It has been a good time and great to learn that the Blood Moon pack has gotten stronger,'' Conner said, chuckling, but looking at Katy.

Of course, he was originally from there. It seemed surprising how happy he looked about it, though.

Katy wouldn't stop looking at Conner, and Conner was trying very hard not to stare at her. Conner opened and closed his mouth a few times, then surprised us all.

''Are we able to all talk outside of ear range? But do not make it obvious we are moving away to talk?'' Conner asked in a slight whisper, so no one ever heard what he said looking around as if he was having a casual chat about the surroundings.

''Yeah, of course, let's go over to the food table.'' Gunnar said, motioning to all of us to go over there. Louder Gunnar said ''You have got to try the ribs, our chef who makes this is just genius.''

We all moved to the table, and it was quiet over here as everyone had got their food.

''My name is Conner. It's lovely to finally meet you, my mate. I'm sorry I cannot say it out loud. I worry about Ashley as she gets jealous and will try to ruin our mate ship. Also, you must be Ase, formerly known as Charlotte? 'I do not want to pry, but are you William's cousin?'' Conner asked, looking around, making sure no one was listening.

''What do you mean about Ashley?'' Freda jumped in quickly before any of us could say anything hissing her words.

''And we do not know who this Charlotte is!''

''What do you want to know about my mate Beta?'' Dimitri said in a low f**k around and find out voice.

He did not look happy when Conner asked about me.

Me I froze, he knew who I was, that must mean William knows who I am.

Conner, still looking around, spoke again.

''When I first went to the Pinewoods pack, Ashley tried flirting with me. I would not acknowledge her advances, I knew she was with William and I just would not stoop that low. She ended up throwing a fit and tried to accuse me of crap. As I was new to the pack, they made her wind her neck in. We have never seen eye to eye. One day, one of the warriors, Jason from Blood Moon who is a good friend of mine, came for a visit. He met his mate, Amanda. They are such a wonderful couple and didn't deserve the s**t they got. Ashley decided to flirt with Jason. He didn't respond or give in to her. One day she threw herself at Jason as Amanda walked in and kissed him. They both got banished from the Pinewoods pack and Amanda's parents, Ashley, tried to accuse Jason of r**e. I managed to help him not be killed. I was the witness and talked about the cameras. I said from that day I would keep my mate a secret. I would not put my mate through that. As for you Ase, I really wanted to talk to you when I first entered the pack. That week I was learning and watching. Everything seemed normal, but they never let me near you. I didn't know who you were until the day you ran. I have been digging into things because nothing seemed right. William has not put two and two together yet on who you are, but I believe he may be getting suspicious. John, your so-called uncle, he has never stopped looking for you. I found this out on the way here. William left his link open to me and could hear what he had been planning. I only went to Pinewood pack to train to be a Beta, but the way they are, I would rather give it all up.''

I sagged with relief that William didn't know who I was, taking a deep breath to calm myself down, Beta Conner was one of the good ones. I am glad that he is one of the good ones and wants out that means it will help his move to this pack.

We all planned to meet up in private later on.
