Natalie woke up, greeted by the white ceiling and green curtains. Perfusion of metallic and bitter medicine scent blended in the air with aerosol sprays circulated in the room because of the air conditioning unit. She blinked several times to check if she wasn’t dreaming. ‘How am I even brought here?’ she asked herself in confusion. It was the first time she was brought to a clinic after so long. The last time she remembered visiting one was when she had her medical exams for her internship. “Finally, you’re awake.” Her heart skipped a beat with excitement, hearing a voice so dear to her. She smiled, feeling a warm hand intertwined hers. “The doctor said you passed out because of fatigue. Have been overdoing yourself?” Manolo asked, but his tone was that of a father nagging his child.
