Aurora’s POV “Take the Moon Heir alive.” The words echoed through the frozen forest like a nightmare. My pulse slammed violently against my ribs as three rogue wolves stepped from the shadows slowly, surrounding us beneath the moonlight. Snow crunched beneath their paws their glowing red eyes never left me, fear curled painfully in my stomach they weren’t here by accident they came for me. Liam moved instantly in front of me protectively, his body tense as a dangerous growl rumbled deep in his chest. “Stay behind me,” he ordered quietly. I nodded shakily, though my entire body trembled. The lead rogue smirked cruelly. “Well,” he mocked, “the silver-eyed girl looks even prettier up close.” Liam’s growl deepened dangerously. “Say another word,” he warned, “and I’ll rip your jaw off.” The rogue laughed. “Oh, the little Alpha heir wants to play hero.” I blinked in shock. Alpha heir? Before I could process the words, Liam stiffened slightly. The rogue noticed my confusion immediately. “You didn’t tell her?” he mocked. “Shut up,” Liam snapped coldly. But the damage was done. I stared at Liam. “You’re an Alpha heir?” Liam cursed softly under his breath. “We’ll talk later.” Except later might never come. Because the rogues were closing in slowly now, hunting us. One of them sniffed the air before grinning wickedly. “The Alpha King’s scent is all over her.” Heat rushed to my face instantly. The rogue laughed darker. “No wonder he finally lost control.” Liam’s patience snapped he shifted instantly. Dark smoke exploded around him before a massive gray wolf lunged toward the nearest rogue with brutal force. Chaos erupted immediately, growls exploded through the forest. Claws slashed through snow and blood. I stumbled backward in panic as Liam fought two rogues at once, his wolf moving fast and vicious beneath the moonlight. But there were too many. One rogue broke away from the fight suddenly and charged directly toward me fear rooted me in place. Move. MOVE. My mind screamed at me but my body refused. The rogue lunged. Sharp claws reached for me then suddenly, a massive black wolf slammed into the rogue midair so violently both wolves crashed through the snow several feet away. My breath caught instantly. Kael. The terrifying roar that shook the forest could belong to no one else. The black wolf tore into the rogue mercilessly, blue eyes glowing with pure murderous rage. I had never seen anything so terrifying or so beautiful. The remaining rogues froze briefly at Kael’s arrival and that was their mistake. Kael’s wolf moved like death itself. Fast, brutal and unstoppable. Within seconds, another rogue hit the ground hard beneath him, whimpering as Kael pinned him viciously into the snow. The Alpha King looked absolutely feral, he looked furious. One rogue tried attacking from behind but Kael snapped the wolf’s neck instantly. My stomach twisted violently. Moon Goddess. Liam shifted back into human form nearby, breathing hard. “They won’t stop coming,” he growled. Kael shifted too. The moment he appeared in human form, his eyes found mine immediately. Relief flashed across his face so intensely it hurt to look at. “Aurora,” he breathed. The way he said my name like losing me would’ve destroyed him completely. My chest tightened painfully. One surviving rogue suddenly laughed weakly from the snow. “You’re too late, Alpha King.” Kael’s attention snapped toward him murderously. The rogue grinned despite the blood covering his mouth. “The Shadow Order already knows she’s alive.”Cold fear swept through the forest instantly Kael’s expression darkened dangerously. “You should’ve hidden her better.” Before anyone could react, the rogue suddenly bit down on something hidden in his mouth. Poison. His body collapsed seconds later into the snow and within few seconds he was dead. Heavy silence followed. The wind howled softly through the trees while my breathing remained uneven Kael stared at the rogue’s body with pure hatred in his eyes. Then slowly, he turned toward me again. And the look on his face made my heart ache. Fear not for himself. For me. Kael stepped toward me carefully. Like I might disappear. “Are you hurt?” he asked roughly. I shook my head weakly. The tension in his body eased slightly. Then suddenly, his hands cupped my face, it was warm, protective as always his forehead rested briefly against mine as he exhaled shakily. The contact sent electricity racing through the mate bond instantly. Relief flooded through him so powerfully I felt it too. For one dangerous moment, everything else disappeared. The rogues, the prophecy, the heart break, it was just us again. Then reality crashed back I pulled away first. Pain flashed across Kael’s face immediately. But before either of us could speak Liam suddenly stiffened nearby. “We’ve got company.”
