Chapter 16Raquel and I sat by one of the wooden tables in front of the high school’s main entrance. A part of me wondered if she was upset about something. Raquel’s gaze kept shifting between me and her textbook every couple of minutes. Almost as if she wanted to tell me something. She looked up from her textbook again. “I need your help with something, Maximillian.” I scribbled something down in my notebook. Then, I met her gaze. “I’m listening.” “I want to come out to my parents.” There was no denying coming out was a big step, even if someone had tolerant friends and family. “Are you sure you’re ready for that?” I asked, quirking an eyebrow.
