Chapter 38I sat next to Stefan and Raquel on one of the couches that formed a semicircle inside the pavilion on the royal grounds. Princess Anastasia was to Raquel’s right, while Queen Vivian and Sirch occupied a love seat. Jules Tanner, who happened to be interviewing us for a high society fluff piece in The Gazette, sat on a chair across from us, while various teacups and a tray of cookies rested on the glass table in the middle of the space. Curtains with a phoenix pattern hung around the exterior of the pavilion, protecting us from the cold, while an ancient stone fireplace contained a cheery fire, adding to our warmth.
Jules took her glasses off, wiped them with her blouse, and then placed them back on her nose. “I have so many questions because I’m not sure where to begin.”
