“You seem to know him well.”
“We’ve been friends since we were five. We grew up together. We went to school together and studied together, though we studied different things. Elijah is a wild card. He doesn’t care how he hurts people, I can understand if you don’t want us to talk about him right now but I’m here when you decide to.” He said, placing his hand on mine. “I won’t tell him anything you say to me that’s a promise, everything you tell me is purely confidential.”
“Thanks, but I need to find the real me before I decide to open up about how I feel about my sham marriage to Elijah.”
“I understand, but I will be here when you need to talk okay.”
“Okay. Thanks Mason.”
“My pleasure Alaina.” He said taking his hand off mine.
“Well I must say, it was a pleasure to meet you Alaina.”
“It was a pleasure to meet you too Mason.”
He shook my hand again and showed me out of his office.
Trisha smiled. “Here’s your schedule sweetheart and your map.”
“Thanks.” I said taking it off her. “Oh the Dean asked you to get my work from my old college where I did fashion design and business.”
“Sure sweetie.”
I gave her the name and phone number of my college and she told me she’d get onto It right away.
I smiled and thanked her and we said our goodbyes before I headed to my lecture.
Alaina
I have never felt so alone as the day that I began at Riviera enterprises. I swear Elijah Rivera held a grudge against me for wanting to intern there. He made my life a living hell. I couldn't even do my dream job in fashion retail cause he was a complete d**k and he wanted me to do my whole internship with him at his beck and call five days a week when I was supposed to split my time up between the two which he blatantly denied.
I also couldn't believe my parents left me with all their debt and I couldn't pay it all and lost the house; Elijah had offered a way out and I stupidly took it, thinking that he would trade me better at least more decently than he did in his office what a f*****g joke, he was worse a lot worse. He was aggressive and hateful towards me. He told me a wife should be seen and not heard. He made it clear that I was there to pay my debt and he'd never love me or want me. He had other women to surface his needs and he would only come to me if he wasn't satisfied.
He came to me when he was drunk and wasn't pleased when I tired to reject him, so he just took.
I f*****g hate him
I f*****g hate him for what he's put me through
I f*****g hate him to death
I f*****g hate him full stop
I f*****g hate him
I will get my divorce no matter what it takes. I will take these four years to be myself, make friends and plan a way to divorce Elijah f*****g Rivera.
My mobile buzzed ffs. I pulled it out my pocket looking at his name flashing in my screen should I answer it should I not?
Fuck it
I have no choice or he'll keep ringing and I'll get kicked out of my lectures. I answered the call clearly annoyed that I got disturbed the first day here. "What?!!"
"Hello to you too."
"What do you want Elijah?"
"To see if you're settling in okay."
"I'm fine. I'm on my way to a lecture."
"So, how did your meeting go with the Dean?"
"Good."
"Excellent."
"You never mentioned you knew him."
"Must've slipped my mind." He said. Changing the subject. "So how do you like your apartment?"
"It's nice. Why did you bother Elijah? I could've stayed in the dorms."
"No wife of mine is staying in the dorms."
"Of course not." I said, feeling exasperated.
"You could at least be appreciative and say thank you."
"Thank you Elijah, though there was no need."
"You're welcome."
"I have to go Elijah or I'll be late for my next lecture."
"Sure, I'll call you later."
"Whatever," I said, hanging up, slipping my mobile into my pocket taking a look at my timetable and map trying to work out where my first lecture is.
I walked down the corridor trying to find my lecture and trying to find the room I need to be in for my lecture. I wish I had a tour guide, but I guess starting this late in the year wasn't helping. Suddenly I crashed into a brick wall with feet, s**t this wasn't my f*****g day. "I'm sorry."
"That's fine princess, where are you heading?" A gruff yet sexy voice asked.
I looked up, f**k we're all the guys here as sexy as hell? "Sorry again. I was trying to follow the map."
He smiled. "Where are you heading? I may be able to help."
"Oh." I looked at my schedule. "Room 10 b."
