In the back of my mind I know I quickly wiped my eyes, took a deep breath and headed out of the room. Jasper smiled at me. I gave him a quick tight smile. “Alaina honey what’s the matter?” I shook my head and the tears began to flow. He pulled me into a hug. I flinched. “What the hell has that monster done to you?” I said nothing, continuing to cry. “Shh my Angel, everything is going to be okay.” “I should’ve been here with you.” “No you shouldn’t.” “Why not honey?” “He thinks you are after me.” He chuckled. “Though I’m very flattered. You’re not my type honey. I’m not straight, I’m 100% gay honey.” “I know. I tried to tell him.” “I know you did honey, everyone heard you.” “I’m so sorry Jasper. I was just so damn mad at him.” “It’s okay honey, you did what you had to do.” “I have to go Jasper. He's expecting me if I’m not there in five minutes, I would rather not think about what he’ll do.” He moved away, taking his arms from around me. “What happened last night honey?” “I’d rather not talk about it.” “I understand.” “I have to go, Jasper.” “I can help you. All you have to do is say.” “I can’t.” “Do you trust me?” Did I? I nodded. “I do.” “Then let me help you.” “I need to see this through Jasper, my life is already ruined. It might as well be over too.’ “I’m here if you ever decide otherwise.” “Thanks Jasper.” He nodded. “Now get going honey before he sends out a search party for you.” I smiled and walked away. I walked through the dining area. Elijah looked up and called me over. I gave a short curt smile before walking over.I sat next to him. “I’ve already ordered breakfast. You have a glass of juice and a strong coffee the way you like it.” “Thanks.” He leaned over to my ear. “You were almost late, Alaina. A minute more, I will come to find you and punish you, and you wouldn’t like that, trust me.” I swallowed hard. After last night, I wouldn’t like anything he did. I didn’t want him touching me ever again. The full English breakfast went down as Jasper entered the restaurant. Order his breakfast. Elijah called him over to join us for breakfast. He agreed to join us. I sat silent as they talked about business. After breakfast, we went back to our room and packed for the long journey home. When we entered the home, we shared. That was when I swore that I would try to be the best wife he could ever be with and to be what he wanted me to be, to live a happy and peaceful life. ~ “You’re no better than me Elijah we are both equals.” “You’ll never be my equal, it will pay you to remember that. I’m inferior to you always. You will obey me as my wife and as my P.A. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?” I scowled at him. How dare he compare me to a low class slut. How dare he tell me that I am not his equal or did he not understand the terms of a partnership, especially a marriage? How dare he say he is more inferior than me! I understand we both come from very different backgrounds, but that no f*****g excuse to treat me like trash. He glared angrily at me and I was not backing down, I was determined not to back down. He grabbed my chin and yanked my head so I stared him straight into his eyes. His stare angry and cold. “Do you understand?” “f**k YOU!” He squeezed tighter. “How dare you disrespect me. I’m your husband.” “And I’m your wife, we are both as equal as one another.” The blood oozed out of my face as he dug his nails in further. “You are nothing to me Alaina you will never be my equal so shall we try that again shall we?” I nodded. I was going to pass out any minute from the pressure on my face. He glared daggers into my eyes. “I’m you’re inferior to you do you understand.” I nodded. “Do you understand Alaina?’ “Yes.” “Good.” He said, and let go of my face. I dropped to the floor. “Don't ever talk back, share your opinions or ever disrespect me again cause you will be punished severely, and I don’t mean like I did on our wedding day , this will be worse. I promise you that.” His foot connected with my gut and to my face before. He walked away and everything around me went black. I knew I’d pissed him off to the brink. I can’t believe this all started with an argument in his office about me wanting to do more for the company. I wanted to do more, learn more, but he was having none of it and when I tried to help out during his meeting he scowled at me and cut his eyes like I didn’t know what I was talking about, though his investors were impressed he clearly wasn’t and told me I had no right in interfering in his business so, again why the f**k was I there, and why the f**k am I his f*****g P.A? If I wasn’t aloud to give my input. I HATE HIM! I hate Elijah f*****g Rivera. I was in no rush to get home that night. Suddenly the door creaked open. I didn’t want to see any one more so I didn’t want anyone to see me like this. “Oh my god darling what the hell happened?” I knew who it was, my ticket to freedom out of this sham marriage. My saviour, Jasper, if I let him. He picked me up in his armm. “Please don’t tell me he done this to you Angel.” I looked at him before all around me went black. It only hurts when your eyes are open... It’s true, I messed up, I messed up big time. I should never have agreed to this marriage so I wouldn’t lose everything. Loose my dignity. Jasper sat me down in the chair, my face looked a mess, my body looked a mess. I had been battered, bruised and raped by the man who was my so called husband. I couldn’t bear the thought of being alone with him, I couldn’t stand the thought of this happening again and again. I needed to get away. I needed to be as far away from him as possible. I should never have entered this contract with him. It meant he could get away with anything and I couldn’t do Jack s**t about it. Jasper looked at me sympathetically I so wished he didn’t I don’t need sympathy right now. I just needed to get the f**k out of here. “What happened darling?” “I don't need your pity Jasper.” “This isn’t pity met darling, this is concern for a friend. I know we didn’t get off on the best foot. But, we are friends and friends are always there for each other and look out for each other.” “I know, I’m sorry. I just miss my parents, I miss talking to them. I can’t believe that they’re no longer with me and I have to put up with this asshole until the debt is paid, if it ever is.” “What is the deal between you and Mr. Rivera?’ He looked at her. ‘If you don’t mind me asking.” “I was his intern at his company through college. My parents passed away leaving a lot of debt and the only way it would get paid off was by this dumb contract between me and Elijah. He wanted a contract marriage, he’d pay off the debt, but I had to become his wife and do as a wife does whilst he is allowed to do what he damn pleases.” “And you agreed to this?” “I had no choice, I had nothing, no job, no home. Just college I had no other choice so I could survive. Now I’m regretting it.” He held me closer. “What did he do to you, Alaina?” The tears fell freely down my face. “I'm so sorry Alaina, we all knew he was ruthless but not this ruthless. I’ll get you through all of this, I promise. We’ll find a loophole in the contract so we can get it terminated. And you are free of that monster. No matter how long it takes I will set you free Alaina, just sit tight cause I’m not sure how long this is going to take.” “Okay thanks.” “My pleasure darling. I have a few friends that will help me out without Elijah getting suspicious, just try not to piss him off okay.’ “I’ll try.” “I have to go now darling, I have a few clients today and I know I won’t see much of you after today as that asshole wants you back at work Monday. I’ll keep you up to date on how things are developing okay.” “Okay, thanks for all of this Jasper.” “We’re friends. That’s what friends are for.” He said, taking his arm from around her getting up kissing her forehead. “We’ll see each other soon darling, so keep your head hold high.” “I will thanks.” He smiled walking away closing the door behind him she fell to the bed her tears falling onto the pillow, how the hell was she going to survive this marriage without going insane?
