William

My mate held my gaze for what felt like forever but I knew it was mere seconds before turning back to the vampires. I shook my head and willed my feet to move. I captured the vampire with an already bloody lip and snapped his arm in half. He cried out in pain stumbling backward. My mate effortlessly took her two vamps to the ground with a tackle I did not see coming. I picked the vamp up I was dealing with and quickly placed him in a chokehold. I watched my mate in action and cursed myself for the erection that was building.

She moved with speeds I had never seen before. Her blows were hard and effective but she was so tiny. Her hood fell back revealing long fiery hair that fell past her waist. I thought about how easy it would be to wrap a couple of handfuls of that hair around my fist as I-. What the hell was the matter with me! I shook my head again trying to bring back some of my common sense.

“Please!”, The vamp gasped as it clawed at my arm around its neck.

“Shut up”, I hissed, not taking my eyes off the beauty in front of me. My mate took a hit to her face and a thundering roar filled the alley. It took me longer than expected to realize the sound was coming from my mouth. My mate grabbed the hand that struck her and quickly pulled it free from the man's wrist. My eyebrows shot up in my hairline as I watched her toss it to the side like it was a piece of trash.

The vampire let out a yell that boarded on insanity. My mate worked quickly to tie the two vampires together before turning to me. I watched as many emotions passed through her eyes before she settled on anger.

“These are my prisoners”. She said crossing her arms as she walked enticingly forward. My eyes darted over her body slowly, starting with her beautiful face. She had full pink lips and golden eyes. She long sleeve shirt hugged her upper body perfectly emphasizing her breast. Her black baggy pants did nothing to hide her rounded hips and plump ass. I groaned. I couldn’t catch a break. My mate was beautiful. She was a warrior and she fought passionately, she was everything my lineage would want for me.

“I was just trying to help”. I said locking eyes with her again. My heart fluttered uncontrollably and I heard her own almost mocking mine. Emotions I’d ignored for years rushed to the surface as I was hit with a strong urge to get to her. Her eyes burned a fiery red before returning to gold and then it did twice more before settling on gold. I realized she was struggling to keep control of herself. I felt some of her emotions through our mate bond. She was angry, confused, elated, disappointed and annoyed.

“I was handling these idiots just fine without you”, she stated and I couldn’t help but feel there was more to that statement. She stalked towards me until she was a few inches away from the vamp I held. I couldn’t get over how tiny she was she couldn’t have been over five feet tall. A huge difference from my six-foot-eight height. I couldn’t help the grin that was forming on my lips.

“I was only trying to help a lady out,” I said emphasizing the lady part. Her eyes flashed red again before stepping back and delivering a roundhouse kick to the vamps head I held. I let the vamp fall to the ground.

“I’m all set here.” She hissed as she turned away from me. I reached out to grab her when a fist collided with the side of mg face knocking me on my ass. I looked around to see if the unconscious vampire had recovered that fast to attack me and discovered my mate standing over me breathing heavy.

“Don’t ever touch me!” She hissed and turned to walk away. I kicked a foot out to trip her and she fell into a roll and lunged at me like a wild cat. I smiled opening my arms I caught her mid-air and slammed her into the dumpster behind me. She grinned and brought both hands to my face pressing her thumbs into my eyes. I yelled releasing her and was awarded with blows to my face and torso. I regained my footing and dodged the next strike lifting her and turning her around so that her back was pressed to my chest.

“Let me go!” She screamed trying her hardest to push me back. I had to admit she was stronger than I thought and I was using most of my strength to subdue her.

“Now, now, just calm down!”I breathed in her ear. Her body instantly went still in my grasp. Her hands circled my arm before she leaned into me. I instantly buried my face in her hair inhaling her sweet fragrance. It was my mistake to think this feisty vampire would yield to me. The arm she held began to smoke and a shooting pain ran up my body. I dropped her and yelled out cupping my arm to my chest. I watched as she stood to her feet with fire encircling her wrist and the tips of her hair. What the f**k!

A grin curved her lips before she turned on her heel towards the vampires tied up on the ground. Their faces looked understandably frightened. She knocked each vamp out before pulling out a cell phone. My arm was completely healed as I stalked towards her.

“Cute little gift you got there,” I said leaning against the alley wall a few feet away from her. The vampires laid between us. I had been many years since I encountered a fire vampire. Many believed their entire clan perished in war.

“Yes..three total no answers I’ll question them when we get there..sure..yeah send him,” she said into the phone and placed it in her pocket before looking up at me. I decided then she could have the moon and stars if she wanted them. I’d find a way to get it for her.

“Are we done here?”, She asked pulling her hood back onto her head. I hated to lose sight of that beautiful hair.

“My name is William”

“I didn’t ask” she resorted. I placed my hand on my chest faking a hurt gesture “Ouch!” I yelled. I watched her lips pull into a smile. Oh yes, you will be mine.

Elizabeth

My mate held me close to his chest in an attempt to restrain me.

“Now, now just calm down!” He hissed in my ear. I wanted to hit myself in the face for the way my body instantly reacted to his touch. I melted into his body and felt his face close to my hair. I brought my hands up and let my fire spread to the tips of my fingers it wasn’t long before his flesh began to fry. He released me with a shout I tucked into a ball as I hit the ground, popping up feeling pleased with myself. I couldn’t help the grin playing on my lips, they always underestimated me.

I turned and took out the vampires sitting on the ground with a punch to each of their temples. I quickly pulled my phone out dialing James's number to get a driver out here. I was aware of each move my mate made behind me.

“Cute little gift you got there,” my mate said resting against the wall across from me.

James picked up on the first ring “Liz?” he asked.

“Yes,” I said, trying my best to keep my heartbeat under control.

“How many were you able to track?” he asked.

“Three total no answers I'll question them when we get there,” I said tiredly.

“I'll send Jared is that okay?” He asked softly. Jared had a huge crush on me and despite my attempts to push him away he just never gave up.

“Sure send him,” I said before ending the conversation to look up at my mate. He was truly enormous and breathtaking with his shoulder-length black hair and golden beautiful eyes. His eyes shifted to red with a ring of fire encircling them before shifting back to gold. So it was true, my gift reflected in him. He wore all black like me giving a hunter vibe down to his black combat boots. His short sleeves revealed numerous tattoos running up and down his muscular arms. There wasn’t a spot of skin left unmarked from what I could see. He had a slightly larger bottom lip than the top and they broke out into a smile revealing perfect white teeth. Ughh.

“Are we done here?” I asked placing my hood on my head. I didn’t like my hair showing, it stood out too much and my job was to blend in. I thought about cutting it a few times but never went through with it.

“My name is William” he stated. William. William, the man who never came for me now had a name for the pain I suffered over the years.

“I didn’t ask,” I said rolling my eyes. His face reflected a fake hurt as he brought his hand to his chest.

“Ouch!” He yelled his eyes sparkling in the darkness. My heart jumped and I felt myself smiling which caused his smile to grow.

“You are a trained fighter little flame, who do you work for?” He asked with a dangerous air about himself.

“I can’t say.” I simply said looking away. I needed to get away from this man and I needed to do it fast. I couldn’t leave until Jared got here and he was being such a slow ass right now!

“Understood. I am going to assume you are a hunter?” He asked I turned back to face him and wish I hadn’t. The muscles in his chest stood out profoundly in his black shirt.

“Yes,” I said trying to keep my responses short thinking maybe he’ll leave me alone. Somehow I knew that wouldn’t happen. If my mate pull was affecting me this way then surely he was feeling the same way…right?.

“Your name?” He asked this time pushing off the way and stepping over the vampires to stand in front of me. My breathing was borderline hyperventilating when he placed a hand by my head.

“Elizabeth” I breathed looking up at him. His eyes shifted between red and gold. I knew for a fact my eyes were doing the same. I didn’t know what I was feeling for this man but it was everything and it was so much at one time.

“Elizabeth.. hmmm” he whispered leaning closer so that he was eye level with me. My body had a mind of its own as my hand reached to touch his face. The sound of tires streaking pulled me from my trance. Headlights came around the corner in a instant and William stood up straight positioning himself in front of me. I could feel the power radiating off of his body. His shoulders hunched forward and I saw his nails extending into claws. Wolf claws? How? His eyes were those of a vampire and he smelled more like a vampire than a wolf but I had to admit his smell was off. Something wasn’t right about him. The same roar from earlier filled the alley and his breath came out in pants. Before I realized what was happening he pushed me back a few steps with his body and launched at the approaching van. s**t.
