Chapter 4: Haldi ceremony!!!

Preeti 's POV~

"What are you doing here?", I heard a familiar voice and turned around. I saw Raju my friend. He is like my big brother to whom I can share without any insecurity and not being judged.

I smiled at him. " Nothing, Came out for fresh air", I said.

"Are you happy?", he asked and I know he knew me too well from college so he can sense it.

" Of course..I am happy", I said not able to make a eye contact.

"Really?", he asked me again to confirm his doubts.

" Yeah!!! Don't worry", I said witha firm voice.

"Preeti...You know we cherish you the most. You are my sweet little sister. I will always support your decision. If you need any help you must tell me", he said my patting my head.

"I know... I will. I happy with this engagement ", I said and we both hugged each other.

"Secret conversation!!", Alia said by smirking at us.

" Just a conversation between brother and sister", I said sarcastically.

"Why? Are you jealous?", he said while winking at us. He kept his hand on her shoulder.

" You wish?huh?", Alia spoke with a attitude.

"When are you going to tell your parents?", I said looking at both.

" Soon!!", both said in a one go.

"Oh!!! everything is prepared. I was the one who is worrying about nothing", I said while teasing them.

" Hey...don't be like that. I have spoke with my dad his reaction was quite normal. So I was happy", Alia added.

"That's because, Your dad saw him for many years. My brother is best in both pen and sword", I said.

"Ohh...okay. Always taking your brother side", Alia said irritatingly while we both winked at each other and laughed at her.

"Okay, don't piss me off. Preeti , I came here to show this", she said in a serious tone and handed her mobile.

" What is this?", I said while looking at the mobile.

She played the video. A maid stole the ring where we kept our shopping bags in the living room. Realization passed me over. I have accused Arjun for the missing ring. Guilt . I have unnecessarily accused him. I have to apologise.

"I saw you are saying something about missing ring to Arjun. So I have checked the CCTV cameras and I got this", she said while giving me a pointed look.

" What have I done? I have wronged him?", I said while placing my hand on my forehead.

"Yeah!! You acted too fast this time. How can you act like this?", I asked her.

"I don't know. I have to apologize him", I said and went in search of Arjun who is not there around. I have searched nook and corner of the house and didn't find him anywhere.

How I can be so judgemental? I have wronged him. I accused him for what he has not done? Poor thing!! He doesn't know. anything. I said to myself.

Later from my dad, I got to know that Arjun went to handle some matters regarding company. Slowly, all relatives went off. Arjun's family and my family are left. Daksh uncle and aunty are also about to go, " Take care dear!!", they both said.

"Of course uncle!! Bye aunty and uncle", I said while going out with them. They both waved hands at me and finally engagement was over.

I went to my room and get out of this heavy lehenga and freshened up myself. I wore my night wear and went to bed. I felt really guilty for accusing Arjun and on the other side I was happy because I gave him a ring that I designed. I am thinking my future about me and Arjun and went to a deep slumber.

Two days later.....

These two days , I didn't get a chance to meet Arjun. I called him many times but he didn't lift it.

May be he his mad!!! I thought.

Today, is haldi ceremony so I will get a chance to apologize him. I have got ready for haldi ceremony. For this ceremony, the color code for dresses is yellow. I wore a yellow lehenga with a light flower jewellery. I went down with Alia who looks excited. I was walking with her but my eyes are searching for him. I saw Arjun standing with one of his friends in yellow kurta. He is handsome. I was staring at him.

" Close your mouth", Alia said while tapping my shoulder lightly. I came out from the daze and walking slowly towards Arjun. I saw Arjun he is not like his usual self. There is something wrong with him.

"Okay, bride and groom are here", my mom said happily. She is smiling happily.

Arjun and I sitting opposite to each other. My mom placed a net cloth between us so we can't really see each other. Slowly, our family and relatives applied haldi(turmeric) to us. Alia didn't leave a chance to apply. We both laughed. Sometimes, I am seeing Arjun who is expressionless he is not either happy or sad. I don't know what is he thinking?

After the haldi ceremony, my mom said to freshen up ourselves. Aunty handed a new set of clothes to Arjun. He took and about to leave.

" Arjun, I want to say something?", I said to him.

"What is it? What you want to say?", he immediately stopped and turned around and asked me. I don't knkw what to say about his strange behaviour.

" That...that...", I stuttered.

"Don't worry. What do you want to say?", he placed his hands on my shoulders and said softly. Arjun didn't never spoke to me this softly ever before. What is he upto?

" That, I'm sorry. I thought you are related for the missing ring. Alia showed me a video, that a maid stole it. I'm sorry for accusing you", I said while looking down.

"Oh!! Is this you want to say?", he asked in a cold voice.

" Yeah!! What are you expecting?", I asked with question marked look.

"Nothing!! What am I expecting? ", he said in a really cold voice and glaring at me and went off.

He spoke to me softly and again a cold demon appeared. What is he upto? What's up with his mood swings?

I saw him left without a word. I went to guest room as many relatives are here in my room and are busy. I freshened in guest room and changed into fresh clothed. I went downstairs to see that Arjun is not there. I sighed. After eating one sandwich, I went to my room to see a person standing at the corner of the cupboard.

I was scared. Who is he? A thief? A intruder?

"Who are you?", I asked and my voice was trembling with fear.

" You don't know who I am?", I heard a familair voice and after few seconds, "Arjun...is it you?", I asked while placing a hand on my shoulder.

He turned around swiftly, " Don't you dare touch me!!", he said while holding no squeezing my hand dangerously.

"Arjun...Leave my hand!! It hurts", I said and tried to free my hand but his grip only got stronger.

" I thought you are a nice girl but you are scheming like other girls. There is no difference. I thought marrying me is just your childish plan but you are gold digger. Don't think, I don't know you. I will make your life hell so you will not destroy other lives", he said dangerously while eyeing me dangerously.

"I thought you are younger than me and doesn't have maturity to decide but I was wrong", he said while pinching my chin. I am wincing in pain.

" What are you talking about? I don't know anything", I said truthfully and tears started rolling over my eyes.

"Stop your act. Don't act in front of me. I will now fall for your act", he said and slapped me.

" What do you think you are doing? How dare you slap me ?", I yelled.

"I can do anything I want. Tomorrow you will be Mrs. Oberoi and I will make your life hell. Wait for me", he said.

He took a ointment from his pocket and started applying on my cheek. I was shocked to see him.

" What are you upto?", I asked while removing his hand on my cheek.

"Don't you dare!!", he said while looking at my hand and I immediately removed my hand.

" Don't be shocked..I will be the one to give you pain and also the one to soothe", he said while applying on my cheek.

"I will always take care of my wife", he said dangerously by moving towards me. I jerked.

" Tomorrow is our wedding. You should be pretty right? Take care of your cheek", he said while handing the ointment and patting my head.

Is he have spilt personality? What is he upto? In one minute, he slapped me ...In one minute, he applied ointment. What is he doing? What he mean by gold digger? How dare he?

I was glaring at him furiously. I don't know what is he upto? I heard someone was coming towards my room. I immediately, covered my head with a dupatta. It is also our ritual to cover our head with dupatta and used to cover my cheek.

I covered cheek. Suddenly, Arjun pinned me to the wall, and came closer to me. I was trying to move him away. He pinned my hands my his hands. He came closer towards me and I closed my eyes.

"Preeti, What are ....y...", my mom was startled to see us. Arjun immediately moved away.

" Aun...Aunty...It's jus..just", he said and scratched his back of his head nervously.

"huh? What are you doing here Arjun", my mom asked and Arjun's mom at right moment and looked at us teasingly.

" Preeti...called me ..I don't knkw anything!!", he said while smirking at me.

I am glaring at him. "I called you? You were waiting here and startled me!!", I said and our moms laughed.

" Okay, I am leaving", je said amd went off while smiling.

He is a great actor. He is acting as if they caught him red handedly romancing with me. What a great actor!!

"Why are you wearing dupatta like this?", my mom asked me while coming towards me.

" Nothing mom!! Just", I said while not getting any reason.

"I think Arjun asked her to wear like this. He love to see me like this, so he asked Preeti I guess", Arjun's mom said while hugging me.

I didn't got any reason. So I decided to play along. I nodded at them. They both hugged me happily.

" I am happy that Arjun is givinge chance to you Preeti", Arjun's mom said happily.

"Take care of my son dear!!", she said and hugged me again.

" Of course aunty", I said and hugged her.

"Oh!! Enough of these emotional moments. Let's enjoy the happy moments", my mom said.

We all three sat on my bed. " This is your wedding lehenga and accessories", Arjun's mom gave these to me.

"Wow!! Aunty!! It is so beautiful", I said while looking at my red lehenga with heavy embroidery.

" This is my son's choice. Of course it will be nice ", she said.

" Arjun selected these? ", I asked her cluelessly.

" Yeah!! Of course", she nodded.

What? He selected the wedding lehenga? What is he upto ?

After two hours of chat, my mom and Arjun's mom left my room and asked me to rest.

I laid on my bed and when I closed my eyes, the same scene repeated in my mind. I was really scared to see him like this. It is impossible. How can Arjun treat a women like this?

Arjun always respects women. He never lays a hand on a women. He slapped me. Tears started rolling down from my eyes. I don't know what I did wrong? He came, he called me gold digger? he called me scheming ? What is he upto ? Is he insulting me like this, so I can deny this wedding? I'm like other girls? What does this mean? Actually, from the start, Arjun eyes depicted that he was angry with me but yesterday, he was hurt and I saw disgust in his eyes. What happened six months ago that he changed like this? I don't know what happened to him now? How can I know how he changed six months ago? What is his problem? Now I am really scared to see him. Is he having personality disorder? no? What am I thinking? Am going crazy? Arjun you are like a puzzle, how I should solve you? Now you slapped me, I don't know what you will do in future? What happened to you? My head is filled with these questions. I have to find answers to these questions. I don't know when sleep will come to me.
