CHAPTER 5

(Selene’s POV). “Hello, Selene.” Lucian came at night when I was about to cook my dinner. He looked so good in his clothes, and his smile never left his lips, which made me a bit nervous. “Did I disturb you at times like this?” he asked when I didn’t reply to his greeting. I sighed. “You didn’t. But I am just about to cook something. Why are you here? Didn’t we just meet yesterday, and will you wait for my decision?” “What a coincidence! Let's have dinner and discuss my offer.” I furrowed my eyebrows, hearing his offer to have dinner with me. It was too quick as well to discuss his offer again last night. “What if I don’t want to? You need to wait for my answer, Lucian.” “It’s just a discussion. You don’t have to answer now. I will tell you something that may become your consideration as well.” I looked at him in a serious way, wet my lips to think about it, but I couldn’t lie that I felt hungry now. Damn it! “Fine, I will prepare first,” I finally agreed to have dinner with him. When I changed my clothes, I felt confused about what dress I had to wear. I didn’t want to impress him, but, of course, I wanted to look pretty as always. Besides, Lucian didn’t look like old people; I just needed to balance his appearance. Well, I only wear simple dresses that look elegant. This dress is called a bodycon dress, and I’m so confident about wearing it because my body looks sexy in it. After I’m sure I'm ready for this, I feel nervous again about meeting him. Of course, I was nervous because he was the one who offered me to become his Queen! I then took a deep breath and went out of my room. He had already waited outside, and I tried to act normally. “You look gorgeous, Selene,” he suddenly complimented me when I hadn’t even seen him. “Hmm, thank you.” He drove the car, and the nervousness still lingered around me. My hand was in a cold sweat, and I gulped down my saliva many times. My heart has been beating faster since he came. When we arrived at the restaurant, the situation felt so tense. I could tell because Lucian’s expression changed the moment we entered the restaurant. He was so controlled—full of control. His dark eyes had something I couldn’t tell, but when he looked at me, I was like his prey. But I didn’t feel afraid of him, or yet. “Do you like the atmosphere, Selene?” he asked when we ate. “I do. Thank you for this dinner.” “There’s no need to thank me, my Queen. You deserve all of this.” I blushed when hearing that. He sounded like seducing me. Oh, damn… this was so weird. After my broken marriage, he showed up as a savior. I had never been this close to him since I was Daxton’s wife. “I’m not your Queen, Lucian. I haven’t decided yet.” “I know, but I’m sure you will say yes.” “How can you be sure about that? I don’t give you any guarantee of that.” He smiled, and damn, he looked handsome! Was it normal to feel this? Compliment my ex-husband’s father? I just felt like this wasn’t normal. I mean, I’m not normal. “I can just see that from your appearance. You need me.” I didn’t know if I needed him. So far, I don't think I need anyone, but, of course, I need someone to save my pack. Did he mean he could save my pack? “If you are with me, your relationship with your son will be broken.” “I wouldn’t offer you if I cared from the beginning, Selene.” He was so right, and he didn’t care about it. Maybe because since then, their father-son’s bond has already broken. I also didn’t know why, but I knew the way they talked to each other. I kept silent and continued my meal. Then he talked again, just like he promised to discuss it. “I won’t ask you for a baby, Selene. I mean, if you think about it. If I say I only want power, then I mean it.” I considered having a baby, but I was not ready to have one, and I didn’t know what the future would hold. I mean, now I feel something inside me about him. I always complimented him as a handsome man in my heart. That was weird. And it made me afraid that if I fell for him, that was what I meant about the future. “Noted,” I replied to him. And we didn’t talk again because we continued to eat again. Just as I thought the dinner was going well, I smelled Daxton’s scent entering the restaurant, and it made me look at him. It turned out he came with his new mate. That cheap Omega he chose. I looked at Lucian; he had nothing on his expression, but he also looked at them. “Oh no, turns out your ex is here, baby,” said his new mate. “Did she meet the King to ask him to talk to you so you could get back together with her?” That cheap Omega’s lips said something stupid I hated so much. She thought I'd ask Lucian to do that. What a fool I would be if I had done that! “Shut up, b***h. You better keep silent if you don’t know anything, or I will sew your lips!” I threatened her. She showed her innocent look that I wanted to throw my saliva at her, so a hypocrite. “Talk to her and make sure you won’t get back to her, Daxton.” I rolled my eyes because of how childish she was. She was so cheap just because her Omega title had nothing and was useless. Daxton then came closer to my ear, not that close, but I knew he would say something to make sure his f*****g mate. “We’re not getting back together, Selene. Even if you ask my father to talk to me." I wanted to laugh when he said that, but I held it. I just looked at him with a mocking expression. “Seriously?” Just that I could say to him while I chuckled. “I just want you to know that. You aren’t going to have another chance.” Then suddenly, Lucian chuckled, and it made Daxton and I look at him while he said, “Well, Son… meet your new mom.”
