CHAPTER 3

(Selene’s POV). “She’s my ex, Dad! Shouldn’t you feel ashamed because you—” “You better go, Son. Your presence ruins everything here,” cut Lucian. Daxton looked at me with hatred, but I just smiled and shooed him away with my hand in my drunk state. I seriously felt like I didn't care about him at all like my feelings for him were gone, although the real pain was still there. He also held his new mate’s hand before going and saying, "You’ll never be more than a discarded She-Alpha.” “Like I care,” I said, sounding like I was singing those words. After he left, I gulped down my whiskey again, but suddenly, Lucian grabbed my glass and put it on the table until it rang. “You have enough. You should stop.” “I’m not drunk too much, Lucian. I want more. I want more until I vomit it all until I pass out.” He chuckled and suddenly held my arm when my body wasn’t balanced, and I almost fell. “See? You have enough. I will drive you home.” I was a bit shocked to see how caring he was. He rarely talked to me or had this conversation this much. But now… despite his coldness, he looked so carefree. “Why do you care about me? I’m not yours to protect.” He smirked at me and helped me leave the bar with his hand around my waist. “Well, not yet,” he replied. I looked at his hand and was surprised. I almost held my breath. What did he mean by that? Why did he reply with those words? I wanted to ask more but didn’t want to be entertained. I didn’t want to have a new relationship with anyone, so I didn’t want to ask Lucian what he meant. To me, every man was the same. Yes, I generalized all of them just as Daxton did. It was enough for me for my failed marriage and being rejected to embarrass me in front of the pack. I didn’t want to feel it again, not at this time. Although Lucian said so, and if he had feelings for me, it was a big no to me since he was my ex-husband’s father, because Daxton’s nature must be descended from him. I thought if Daxton were like that, it would also be possible for Lucian to have that character. On the long journey to the pack, I sighed a lot while closing my eyes, trying to rest for a while. But suddenly, Lucian’s words kept ringing in my head. Damn it! Why didn't it go away? I could only swallow my saliva and turn my head to Lucian, who was driving the car. If I could say, he never looked old. He had no white hair, as old people do, or maybe it was because we were wolves, so we had no white hair. I don’t know. “Do you have something to say?” he asked suddenly. I just shook my head, thinking about what being his girlfriend in his era was like. Because all I thought about was the odd styles. Seriously, I wanted to laugh. But then I shook my head again, reflexly. I wouldn’t make any other men think they could have me and have control over me. It was enough of Daxton, who had it all, and he would have had the worst experience in my relationship. “We’re here,” Lucian said, waking me from my deep thoughts. I looked around, and the pack seemed so quiet. I inhaled and exhaled before leaving until I realized Lucian had opened the door for me. “You don’t have to do this,” I said, looking at him. “I always do this to women.” I didn’t say anything because this man looked interested in me, and I wanted to keep my distance from him. But this was also his pack. He could do anything he wanted here to check on everything, and for now, I couldn’t stay away from him until he left this pack. When I was already in front of the door to my room, he was behind me, and I looked at him with my sleepy eyes and was still drunk. “I’m already here; you can leave, Lucian. And thanks for the ride,” I said politely. “What will you do in the future?” he asked. I was a bit shocked to hear that. He was so serious about asking me about it now, in my drunk state. “Seriously? Are you talking about it right now? I’m sleepy, Lucian. I’m drunk as well.” “You’re drunk, it’s true, but you always reply to every word I say.” I exhaled and gulped down my saliva. “Of course, I planned to move on from him. Maybe I will leave this pack, be a rogue, or live alone like normal people. But… that’s still my plan. The important thing is, I have to move on from your son. He gave me so much pain that I had to heal myself!” “I want to offer you something.” “Huh? What is it?” “A royal alliance.” My forehead wrinkled hearing that. A royal alliance? It sounded so fancy and huge, but I knew it might require a big responsibility. “What do you mean by that?” “You may disagree with my offer, but because I know what you have been through, I want to offer you.” I waited for him to continue while I crossed my hands on my chest. He looked more serious now and exhaled before saying what he meant. “Selene, I want you to become my Queen.”
