CHAPTER 14

(Selene’s POV) I reached out beside me but didn’t feel Lucian there. My eyes snapped open as I scanned the surroundings. He had disappeared again. I sighed and was about to get up to check if he was still around the house. But I could still smell his scent. And sure enough, Lucian appeared, carrying a tray in his hands. I immediately knew it was food and drinks. "Good morning, my Queen. Don’t move, just stay there." He sat beside me just as I adjusted my position since I had been about to get up and look for him. A moment later, he kissed my lips. My body remained covered by the blanket because we had just finished making love—again, passionately. Lucian was truly incredible, not only as a leader for his pack but also in bed. My heart pounded just thinking about it. "Breakfast for my woman. Eat up," he said. I smiled, impressed by his thoughtfulness. He knew I was feeling weak right now, and he was treating me like a true Queen. "Thank you, Lucian. I thought you had left me again." "Were you afraid I’d leave?" "And would you?" He smiled and cupped my chin. "I won’t go unless it’s absolutely necessary. And of course, Harper will be here to watch over you." Lucian began feeding me bit by bit, and I chewed slowly. "How are you feeling, Selene? I’m truly sorry for being selfish and doing this to you. Seeing those hickey marks... I couldn’t stand not feeling jealous." He looked genuinely regretful, as if making love to me in that state had somehow hurt me. But in truth, I was happy to see his jealousy, to know he truly wanted me. "I don’t mind, Lucian. I’m glad you did it. At least the kisses he gave me have now been replaced by yours," I replied. "Still, my bastard son should never have done that to you!" I chuckled softly. Now I could see his childish side—adorable yet amusing. "You know, I’m actually lucky that I finally separated from him. The Moon Goddess truly showed me what a bastard Dexton is!" I felt no shame in cursing Dexton’s name in front of Lucian. After all, Lucian himself despised what his son had done to me. "And I’m lucky that I came at the right time and got to have you." After finishing breakfast, Lucian offered to bathe me. At first, I wanted to refuse out of embarrassment, even though we had already made love so passionately. But in the end, I couldn’t say no. There was no s*x in the shower, but of course, there were plenty of kisses and touches. His hands, much larger than mine, kneaded my breasts. His lips kissed every inch of my skin as if he wanted me to be drenched in his scent before he finally marked me. I giggled at the sensation, but every now and then, soft moans escaped my lips. Lucian truly managed to restrain himself from retaking me—because he wanted me to rest. "Alright, we’re done. If we stay here any longer, I might just lose control and make love to you again," he said. "Fine then. Let’s dry ourselves." One thing different about Lucian was that he took the initiative to dry my hair with my hairdryer. Unlike Dexton, who had never been this romantic. Damn, I just realised how often I compared Lucian to Dexton. "What are you thinking about, Selene?" he suddenly asked. I shook my head with a smile. "I’m just still hungry." "Then I’ll cook something for you." I stood up and looked at him sceptically. "You can cook? Really?" Without answering, he kissed me and led me to the kitchen with his lips. I had lost count of how many times he had kissed me since I agreed to be his mate. "Wait here and watch." I sat at the kitchen table, carefully observing as he prepared the ingredients and started cooking. The aroma was mouthwatering once the dish was ready, and I couldn’t wait to taste it. "Let’s eat, Love." "Come here," I said, motioning for him to come closer. For some reason, I suddenly felt turned on, watching how strong and confident he looked while cooking. And since I had been holding back, I wanted to make love to him again. Yes, I was starting to feel addicted to him. I immediately kissed him, wrapping my legs around his waist. Without hesitation, he did exactly what I wanted. The towel I had been wearing slipped off, and his lips latched onto my breast. Then, in one swift motion, he thrust into me. His hips pounded into me fiercely, and I moaned loudly. "Damn, Selene!" At the same time, we both reached our climax, riding the waves of pleasure together, ending with a deep, lingering kiss. "You do realise you just turned our lunch break into another round of making love, right?" "Well, who started it, huh?" I laughed shyly, but he didn’t tease me further. Instead, we sat down to eat our—now very late—lunch together. As I took my first bite, my eyes widened in surprise. The food was absolutely delicious. I had underestimated him, assuming he wouldn’t know how to handle things in the kitchen. Well, I was wrong. "So, tell me about your past love life with your wife, Lucian." The question slipped from my lips before I could stop it. I had never known anything about Dexton’s mother—Lucian’s wife. But one thing was certain—I felt restless not talking about it. After all, Lucian was going to be my mate, and I thought I had the right to know about his past relationship with her. Especially since Lucian was so romantic with me, the nagging thought that he might have been just as romantic with his wife kept creeping into my mind. "Why are you suddenly asking about her? And why did your expression change, Selene?" he asked, noticing the shift in my face. I took a deep breath. I didn’t want to bottle things up anymore, so I decided to be honest with him. "You’re very romantic, and I’m sure you were the same with her," I said. Lucian smiled, resting his chin on his hands as he gazed at me. "Are you telling me you’re jealous of her?" I felt nervous. It was too soon for me, as his mate, to ask such a thing. And I wasn’t sure if my jealousy was even justified. "I... maybe. Yes. I don’t know," I answered, flustered. He reached for my hand, kissing it gently. "I know you’re curious about my past love life, Selene. And you know what? I love seeing you jealous like this." Damn. He was teasing me, and he was enjoying it. "That’s not fair if you don’t tell me, Lucian." "And who said I wouldn’t? You’re impatient, aren’t you? Are you that eager to know how much I used to love her?" "Lucian!" He was deliberately playing with me, making me feel embarrassed and cornered by my own jealousy. "Before I tell you, I just want you to know... you really tempt me to keep teasing you. Seeing you with this jealousy is incredibly entertaining." Then, he kissed me deeply, passionately. I kissed him back with even more intensity—driven by the fire of my jealousy.
