CHAPTER 10

(Selene’s POV) "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" His furious shout shook the entire room, which had already descended into chaos because of Lucian’s declaration. "I refuse to have a stepmother like her! Especially since she’s my ex, Father! How could you make her your fiancée?!" "Alpha King… you should reconsider and—" "I do not accept rejection from anyone! I don’t care about any of you because, no matter what, I am the one who decides my own path, not you!" Lucian cut off the council member’s words. I didn’t understand how he could say such things so unilaterally without even informing me. Honestly, I wanted to protest because I hadn’t even given my answer yet. But when he looked at me afterwards, it was as if he was telling me that I only needed to follow his plan. For my own good, I stayed silent and remained calm in the end. Then, Lucian turned his gaze to Dexton, his expression both composed and firm. "Keep talking like that, Son. You may think I’ve lost my mind, but let me remind you once again—you’re the one who’s lost your sanity by rejecting and divorcing her for a foolish Omega!" "And hear me well, all of you… Anyone who hurts her, tries to harm her, or attempts to remove her from my life—remember this: I will protect her, and I will always be one step ahead of you!" Lucian warned. He then strode toward me and took my hand. "Let’s leave this f*****g place, my love." I was stunned, unable to say a word, but I followed his lead. I let him hold my hand as we walked out of the council hall. No one dared to truly oppose him, except for Dexton, who kept cursing from inside. "Are you alright, Selene?" he asked, cupping my cheeks with both hands, his gaze filled with concern. I nodded. "I’m fine." "I’ll take you home now." I didn’t refuse him because I had no reason to. I felt completely protected, and I clearly remembered that Dexton had never been this attentive toward me. Lucian was his complete opposite. The journey home felt unusually long as if the universe deliberately extended the time so Lucian could be with me longer. "I’m proud of your words, Selene. You were so brave," Lucian said, breaking the silence. "Well, I am a she-alpha. Of course, I have to be brave. Besides, I didn’t do anything wrong." "And you are not at fault. If the werewolf world didn’t have such absurd rules, there wouldn’t be conflicts like this." I nodded in agreement. "So, you were truly prepared to face your son’s tantrum like that, huh?" He chuckled and nodded at me. "He’s always had tantrums—from before he knew you to after he completely lost you. He’s been like that since he was a child, so I’m used to it." Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was the one who had ruined their father-son relationship. I was once his son’s mate, and now, unexpectedly, his father wanted to claim me as his. "Tell me when you’ve fully moved on from him, Selene." "I moved on a long time ago. It’s been ages since I realised he wasn’t worthy of me." Lucian smiled, and by then, we had arrived at my home. Since Lucian had practically acted like my knight in shining armour, I invited him in and served him some food and drinks. I poured wine into two glasses, one for him and one for myself. He downed him instantly, and I poured him another. "By the way," I said, tracing a finger across his chest teasingly, "I didn’t expect you to announce our engagement when I haven’t even accepted you yet, Lucian." He clicked his tongue and chuckled. "I know I’m selfish, but I have my reasons. Besides shutting them up, I was sure you’d accept me." "So confident," I replied, my breath deliberately teasing him. "Because I’ve been certain from the beginning that you wouldn’t reject me. You were meant for me, you know that." I finished my wine in one gulp and poured myself another glass, as well as his. He was right—I wasn’t going to reject him. I had been humiliated, and I was out for vengeance. And this was my answer. "Very well, I accept your proposal. I will be your queen, Lucian." "I’m not surprised, given how confident I was about this." I smiled, and Lucian immediately kissed me. One kiss, was followed by another as he searched my eyes for a reaction before diving in again. The kiss grew hotter, and before I knew it, I had straddled his lap. His hands gripped my hips tightly. My moans only seemed to fuel his desire further, and I had to admit—I was getting aroused. And then, suddenly, Lucian was ready to mark me. But I stopped him and looked into his eyes. "Don’t… You have to wait until it’s official." "This will benefit you. If my scent lingers on you, those who dare to harm you will sense it. They won’t even think about hurting you—or even disrespecting you." "I’ll be fine, Lucian. I can handle them myself, you know. I’m not weak—I’m a she-alpha." He chuckled and cupped my chin. "That’s exactly why I chose you as my queen. You’re fearless, and your dominance radiates so strongly." We resumed kissing, and things became even more heated as his hands tore my clothes off, leaving me completely bare before him. "You’re stunning, Selene," he praised. I smiled, and he kissed me again, his lips trailing downward to my neck, licking and teasing the sensitive spot as if he were desperate to mark me. "Ah…" His mouth was sinful as he sucked on my breast, his tongue flicking over my n****e, sending shivers through me. I removed his shirt as he carried me to my bedroom until we were both completely naked, our bodies pressed against each other. He pinned me beneath him, kissing every inch of my skin until my head tilted back in pleasure. I had never felt this aroused before—not even with Dexton. He spread my legs, positioning himself between them, and smirked at me. "Your scent is intoxicating." "Don’t!" I gasped. "You don’t want it?" he teased. By then, his fingers had already slipped inside me, stroking and teasing until I couldn’t hold back anymore. "Just… don’t stop, Lucian." "Of course, I won’t stop, my queen."
