Anna’s POV Bitch? Was I hearing things? Alpha Jamie seemed to regret it immediately and he began to take deep breaths. I wondered what I had done to anger him. Did I annoy him so much that he didn’t want to see me? Was it because I didn’t go to him last night? “Did I do something to annoy you?” I decided to play it cool. I had to soothe my mate who doubled as my Alpha. I could do that much. “I do not wish to have the conversation with a hypocrite like you. I know you have said a lot of bad things behind my back. I can accept everything but not you telling lies to my face. Take off your mask so we can have a proper talk,” Alpha Jamie went on. I still couldn’t interpret what he meant. I was confused. “I have no mask on,” I replied naively. However, this must have struck Alpha Jamie in the wrong manner. He actually raised his hand to hit me but he dropped it last minute. He closed his eyes, reopened them and talked to me, speaking very seriously. “I am holding back because of your late father. He was an honorable commander and I do not wish to maltreat his daughter all because he is dead…” Alpha Jamie said calmly. “You speak in words I do not understand, my lord. Tell me what I have done to offend you and I will make amends. That’s how to converse,” I told him relentlessly. He said nothing more now as he walked out of the room. I couldn’t believe what just happened here. I sat on the bed now and Hailey entered the room, her face filled with concern for me. “What happened?” Hailey asked curiously. I couldn’t even explain since I had no grasp over what had gone wrong. I just tried to calm myself down but the harder I tried, the harder it became. “I think he is very angry at me…” I eventually muttered shakily. I had never been so afraid before. “Why? Did he tell you the reason?” Hailey asked carefully. “No,” I shook my head in the negative. “That is exactly what drives me crazy. I don’t think I have offended him but…” I paused. Hailey looked into my eyes, “Did you realize something?” “I think I do,” I muttered. “He must be angry since I didn’t go to him yesterday. He must have been waiting all night for me. That is the reason.” “Are you sure?” Hailey asked suspiciously. I raised my head to look at her and she averted my eyes. She seemed to have something on her mind. However, I could care less. “I would be angry too if I spent the whole night waiting for someone who wouldn’t come. He must have been angry and disappointed,” I made excuses for Alpha Jaime. Hailey said nothing and watched me delude myself. “What will you do now? The Alpha is angry, you know,” Hailey said out of concern. I took a deep breath and began to think about how I could appease him. ** I couldn’t concentrate throughout the day due to my thoughts. Every scenario I thought of had its disadvantages but I couldn’t afford any mistakes. It had to be a perfect plan. However, it turns out there was no perfect plan in my head. It was around that time that Laila stepped in. She had been busy all day and when I told her, she gave me advice. “It happens often…” Laila smiled. “The fact that both of you are arguing means you care about each other. Alpha Jaime might seem like a ruthless warrior who is more like a savage beast to everyone but the reality is that he loves beautiful things.” “I thought everyone loves beautiful things…” Hailey chirped in. Only three of us were there. Laila didn’t answer the question. She continued, “Alpha Jaime loves beautiful women, music, and dancing. Most of his concubines were selected after they danced gracefully in his presence.” “By any means…” I interrupted. “Do you want me to dance for him?” “Exactly!” Laila replied excitedly. I smiled happily. I was raised in a noble household, of course, I had music and dancing lessons from childhood. I was certain I would grab Alpha Jaime’s heart once and for all. ** Hailey prepared a beautiful dress for me while Laila got her hands on Alpha Jaime’s schedule. He was to pass by the garden so I waited there for him. Laila informed me he was on his way so I began to sing and dance. The mission was to act as if I never knew he would pass by. I could hear his entourage stop when they saw me. I acted like I didn’t know anything and kept it up gracefully. I could hear his footsteps behind me. I turned and he had a smile on his face. “You are a talented one,” He smiled at me. “My lord…” I muttered. I bent to bow to him and right there, the button on my robe fell off, exposing my skin. Alpha Jaime’s eyes changed from happiness to anger instantly. “Have you no shame, woman? How dare a mate of mine expose her body before my whole entourage!” Alpha Jaime spat out angrily. I fell on my knees to beg for forgiveness but he wasn’t willing to hear it. He walked away angrily. I could feel tears gathering in my eyes. Laila and Hailey ran towards me, covering me with another robe. Now I was angry. I had lost this important opportunity. I turned towards Hailey, “You prepared the dress, didn’t you?” “Forgive me, my lady. I should have checked it properly after the seamstress finished,” Hailey apologized. I clenched my fists angrily. “Get the seamstress. I will punish her!” I shouted angrily.
