Hailey’s POV

I watched Anna and Laila from afar. From my own viewpoint, it appeared as if they’d become quite close. Strolling in the garden and chatting is something friends do. For some reason, that felt like betrayal to me. I had been her one and only friend since we were both five years old. The fact that she seemed to favor an older woman over me made me upset.

Anna saw me and waved at me. I waved back with a fake smile on my face. I walked towards them now. They seemed to be talking before, but when I joined them, everything went quiet. That was even more suspicious. Were they gossiping about me, I wondered.

“Shall I prepare your bath, Milady?” I asked Anna carefully. However, it was Laila that replied to me.

“You do not need to worry about that. We have many maids here, so it will be different from when you used to serve her at the Greyjoy mansion. There are maids for those tasks. You should simply stick with Lady Anna. That will be all,” Laila said. She sounded pleased. Anna held my hands now.

“I didn’t bring you to the Alpha’s castle for you to continue serving as a maid…” Anna said carefully.

“You never treated me like a maid, Milady lil. We were always best friends,” I smiled.

“Exactly,” Anna affirmed. “I can’t raise your social status all of a sudden, so for now, remain by my side. All the tasks will be done by other maids. Just stay by my side. In due time, I will arrange for you to leave the castle, and you can start a life of your own.”

Anna looked as if she was delivering good news. Maybe everyone felt it was except me. What I heard was that she was trying to make me useless by allowing other maids to take charge of my duties and, when everything had stabilized, she planned to chase me out of the castle. That was what she meant. I knew it.

“Thank you, Milady,” I said excitedly. I even hugged Anna and acted like the happiest person in the world. Afterward, I left Anna and Laila. I was saddened by the news I just got. How could Anna stab me in the back like this?

I knew from that moment that it was time to take control of my future. That was the only way I would survive.

“You should go to the Alpha, milady,” I urged Anna. However, she didn’t budge.

“If he wants me, he will send it to me. Say no more,” Anna replied. She went to sleep and I watched her. At that moment, I smiled. The plan I had been pursuing for a while might come true tonight. After I had confirmed that Anna was asleep, I went to the Alpha’s pavilion.

“Identify yourself,” One of the guards blocked my path.

“My name is Hailey,” I replied. “I am the personal maid to the Luna of the pack. She has instructed me to give a message to the Alpha.”

“You can go through us. I shall deliver that message on your behalf,” the guard said firmly. I didn’t expect this, but I remained calm and chose to use my wit.

“How dare you!” I exclaimed. “I shall inform Lady Anna of your disrespect. She will gladly make sure you are beheaded.”

I began to walk away, and the guard went after me immediately.

“Forgive my disrespect. I will escort you to the Alpha!” The guard told me. He led the way and now, my heart began to thump in fear. I was playing a dangerous game right now. If I failed, I would probably lose my head. However, I didn’t mind. I could take that risk.

The guard informed the Alpha of my presence and I was sent inside. Alpha Jamie wore his robe but beneath it was only his shorts. He sat down and watched me enter. I knelt before him in reverence.

“Did your lady send you to tell me she wishes to spend the night with me?” Alpha Jamie asked with a smile on his face.

“No, my lord,” I said calmly. I could see the shock registered on his face instantly.

“Then what message did she send through you?” Alpha Jamie looked more curious than before.

“Forgive me, my lord. However, my lady claims she won’t spend the night with an alcoholic. I tried hard to convince her to do her duties but it appears her pride won’t let her,” I said carefully. Alpha Jamie had clenched his fists. He was angry. He stood up and began to walk out.

“Will you go and see her?” I asked him. He stopped and turned towards me. Now, I stood up, looking into his eyes.

“Did you just talk to me without proper manners?” Alpha Jamie was stunned.

“It is useless going after a woman who mocked you publicly,” I said carefully. “Rumors have spread among the maids already. Lady Anna told everyone you lasted only two minutes. She claims you are a vicious beast who doubles as a drunkard.”

Alpha Jamie slapped me angrily. I took it with a smile.

“How dare you speak such words to me! Have you no fear?” Alpha Jamie was boiling in anger.

“If that is what it takes to rescue you from that evil woman, I shall do it willingly…” I replied confidently. I could tell I was swaying Alpha Jamie properly.

“Evil woman?” Alpha Jamie questioned.

“I have served her for years but I dare not acknowledge your supremacy, my lord. I'll talk to you while putting my life on the line,” I said carefully.

“Then what should I do instead?” Alpha Jamie asked in a calm manner. By this time, my heart was beating harder than before.

“Allow me to please you instead…” I muttered before I began to remove my clothes. I stood before him stark naked. Alpha Jamie’s eyes didn’t blink at all. He moved towards me and with his right hand, he grabbed my breast. He had such big hands that my breast fitted perfectly in his hand.

“Come here,” He whispered into my ears. “I will let you please me.”
