I Resigned

The days had pass but Darlene is still not going home. She's really determined to live on her own now. I badly missed the way she greeted me every morning and prepare for my breakfast. I missed the way we share our problems, achievements and tease each other. Did she ever missed me now? "Yow!" my partner shocked me. "You know what, I noticed that you often swim this days. What? You want me to get you a life jacket?" Kyle stupidly asked me. "Kyle, I'm fine. Enough for jokes!" I replied. "I'm just concerned, who knows if you will be drowned in the deep sea of your thoughts," he said and we both laugh. Kyle Francis Del Fredo has been my buddy and partner in almost all of the cases that I'm holding. I've been three years in service as a detective and I know kyle as a straight forward police man and a good friend. He is tall, white and handsome. He is single but not my type, I already have my beloved Frederick. "I'm fine. I can handle this," I replied. A few weeks later. "Joylene Sheena May De Leon!" Chieftain Bargo said my full name. Everytime he is speaking my full name, there's something wrong on my job. "Do I have any faults sir? Hehe!" I doubtfully asked. "What happened to you? I only assigned 2 cases on you but there's no improvement in both of those case. It's almost a month but nothing happened. Last time you can solve even a big and complicated case just for a week or less," Chief Bargo said very fast. "What happened?" he shouted. "I'm sorry Sir, I think I can't handle the case of Bellas Casino and I don't want to handle the case of the notorious g**g anymore," I replied. "What?" Chieftain Bargo shouted in shock. "This is the first time that you said you can't solve a case and just give up," he worriedly said. "I'm sorry Sir," I replied. "Do you have any problem?" he seriously asked me. "No Sir," I immediately replied. "I know you little girl," Chieftain Bargo said. "Tell me, maybe I can help," he offered. "Just forget that we are in uniform now, just talk to me like I'm your father even just only now," he added. I am 25 years old now and I've been a secret agent since I was just 18. I have to work in a restaurant every night and study in college everyday. I can only sleep less than 4 hours daily and no sleep if I have a project or case to solve. I have to work hard and earn money because my parents died when I was just 17 years old. I have to make a living for me and my twin sister, especially that she wanted to become a surgeon. Darlene's course is quite expensive that sometimes I can't pay my own tuition fees and projects just to prioritize her. As an immortal, I have the ability to make money easily like gambling and doing unlawful things but this is not my type. Besides, I didn't feel tired easily. I am 50 times stronger and faster than a normal human. I have special powers that can make my work fast and easy. Chieftain Bargo was amazed with my performance and favor me over anyone else. He used to see me handle everything very fast. He knows a lot about me and my twin but he never seen Darlene in person. He cares for me as if he is my second father though sometimes, he's a little strict. "I used to work hard because of my twin sister. I just want to take care of her and make her happy. I want to protect her in my whole life," I sadly said to Chief Bargo. "Why are you saying this? Is there anything wrong that happened to her?" Chief Bargo asked. "She already left me just because of a cheater and stupid guy," I said and tried to stop my tears from flowing. "Cheater guy?" Chief Bargo asked. "He is the bestfriend of my twin sister. My twin loves him very much and I know it. Fate seems to be joking and I feel in love with that guy too. We became lovers and my twin abandon me because of that. Just a few days past and I saw him in a bar, kissing another woman," I seriously detailed it to Chief Bargo while stopping my tears to flow. "It's alright. Just cry dear, don't stop your tears. It can make you feel better if you let it go," Chieftain Bargo said and I can't stop but cry in agony. "When you came here, you are like a little angel given to me. You solve all my worries and you already get near in my heart. You are such a good child who sacrificed everything just for your sister. It's alright if you once choose to be happy over your sister's happiness. The only wrong is the guy that you choose," Chieftain said while I'm still crying in his office. "It's not too late to go to your sister and correct all this mess," he added. "I don't know if I can make it up now but I will surely try do make peace with her again. I guess she's already making her own pathway to live, better than the life I've given to her," I replied while wiping my tears. "You are old enough. You can file a leave if you need some rest, that's all I can help," Chieftain Bargo offered. I take off my ID and put it on Chief Bargo's desk as well as my g*n. "I resigned," I seriously said and Chief's eyes widened. "You maybe be kidding me," Chief Bargo replied. "I'm serious Sir. I attached my formal resignation paper there," I said while pointing at the folder of my last report. Chief Bargo look so shock and I know he won't let me go that easy. He opened the folder and saw my resignation paper. "I know that you won't say this if you didn't made up your mind," he said and I feel relieved that he understands me. "Thank you Sir," I replied and smiled. "But this is only as a Detective. You are still a secret agent," Chief Bargo said and I just sighed when I heard it. "Don't say no or I will hate you forever," he said like a father threatening his daughter. "Haha! OK fine Sir. But I won't accept any case for the whole month," I replied though I don't want to work for anyone anymore. I want to be free and give fair judgement to this world. "Deal?" he asked. "Deal," I replied. "Everyone will surely be surprised with your sudden resignation. You are the best detective of my team," Chief Bargo said. "Everything will be alright," I replied. "Tss. Don't forget to call me if you need anything," Chief Bargo said. "Thank you so much sir," I replied. "Last one. Instead of Sir, please call me Uncle," Chief Bargo said that made me smile and hug him. "Thank you, Uncle," I said and he tap my back. "Take care and enjoy your whole month of freedom. HAHAHA!" he said and just like we didn't talk anything. Once it's finished, it must not be talked anymore and it is what I like him the most. It's gonna be a great days ahead.
