SQUARING UP

Alex's gaze didn't shift from my face, watching me take in the threat he just placed on my life. “What about the fact that white wolves are legendary?” I looked at Alpha Buick, c*****g my head to the side. My heart thumped so loud I think it would burst out of my rib cage. “I really do not care for legends. I also do not care for our bond. Glad we are on the same page.” He shifted backwards, and I let out a breath I didn't even know I had sucked in. Keeping my voice cool and neutral, I turned to face him. “Well, I was confused earlier.” I looked up into his gray eyes. “You seemed like you were drooling over me in the dining room.” He let out a low chuckle. “It is not my fault; it's this stupid wolf. Every time I come near you, I smell the cinnamon and honey, and it irritates me to my bones just how much my wolf wants you.” I leveled a hard glare. “Good. The feeling is mutual. I shall add you to the list of many people after my head.” I pushed his shoulders and walked past, heading upstairs. Somehow, the contact stirred up heat in my lower belly, and I ignored it, reluctant to show him any sign that I wanted him. My wolf didn't think so, though. “Mate,” she spoke in my head. Finally, after how many days, she finally says something, and all it took was contact with Alex. How precious. “Hey,” I said. “What happened to you?” I asked her. “Exhaustion, I have been asleep… I smell mate,” she replied. Pretending not to hear the last part of what she said, I continued walking up the long stairs, Alex following closely behind me. When I came up to the corridor, the light blinded me halfway, and I had to squint to remember the hallway we had come through. My mind was filled with so many thoughts, anger, and pain, especially. I knew my mother had never loved me as much as I loved her, but she didn't deserve to be locked up in such a dark place. And Yomen, hunting me when I didn't even do anything to him. Alex's threat was the least of my problems; he could go f**k himself for all I care. Air got knocked out of my chest immediately, and I was pinned to the wall. I wriggled against the strong hand that held me there by my neck. “What the f**k is your problem?” I wheezed out. Alex grinned at me. “Welcome to Dark Blood Clan Wolf. You have seen the shaman, she should have informed you about the war and your role in it. Now, do you stand with me or against me?” His hold tightened on my neck. I was turning blue, my eyes had started closing. If he wanted to kill me to show support, then he better snap my neck because I would not be bullied into accepting to fight a war I know nothing about. “f**k you,” I hissed out. I kneeled him in the balls, and his hands relaxed, giving me time to free myself and land a punch to his gut. I lifted my hand to punch his face when the look in his eye stopped me. The bastard looked proud. “What sort of sick game is this? Do you think you would bully me into submission?” I screamed at the big alpha. “I am not your soldier; I am not a part of your pack, and I will certainly not bond with you, so do not mess with me. I am enraged right now.” I panted hard, all my energy fine with my tirade. It was one thing for him to warn me, putting hands in my body was disrespectful, and even though he was the man in charge, I would not be disrespected. I was tired of being disrespected. I fell down to my knees, exhaustion, and pain flooding my chest, making me cry. He sat down next to me and watched, I could see his long legs through the haze of my tears. He had nice legs. “I would not apologize for hurting you.” He started slowly. The bastard had no heart, it seemed. “You will start training, learn how to shift fully, and be the best weapon I have against Yomen.” Standing up, he dusted his jeans, and I raised my head to look at his big frame. “Now get up. When I kill you, you will be standing.” I took the hand he offered and wiped my tears. This was too much for me to handle, and I knew I would crash out soon. I needed to be alone. “Where is my room please?” I asked him, my voice low. Alex replied, “Daia will take you there. I noticed she took a liking to you. She would also show you around and introduce you to some pack members.” I nodded, wanting to be anywhere but standing in this corridor with him. “That was a good punch. You would need to train more, but for someone with no experience, it was good. Daia is on her way. We recovered all your properties from Eucharia when we left, they should be arranged in your room right now.” I muttered my thanks, and he didn't respond. He gestured for me to follow him, and so I did. This place, wherever we were, seemed bigger than I assumed. We reached a clearing that looked vaguely similar to where I had seen the clan members train before. Dais was there, her dark hair in pigtails and her lips a soft pink. She has freshened up, smelling like baby powder. “Alpha”, she nodded in greeting. “Take Clarissa to her room; anything she needs, get it for her,” he instructed. She nodded in response, grabbing my arm and leading me down the corridor towards the south wing. “Are you okay?” she rubbed my hand, offering support of some kind. “I am, just shaken,” I replied, “today was a lot for me.” “Well, if you are interested, we could be friends. I would always support you,” she led me towards the last door in the opposite direction of Alex's room. “Hmm, I would have thought he would want you to be much closer,” she commented. I didn't bother explaining to her that her Alpha hated me, probably because of the murder of his parents, but that didn't give him the right. I pushed in the door, seeing the bed and sighing in relief because I knew I would need a good rest. “Are all my belongings here, including my phone?” I asked Daia. She nodded yes. Most werewolves do not use technology, said it's a waste of time, so I was surprised when Daia reached into her skirt and pulled out a phone. “Here, put in your digits. So I can text you,” she said. I took the outstretched phone, grateful for a normal person like me at last. My mother had hated my phone and hated my normal friends even more. “Thank you so much, Daia. I need to sleep now. I'll send you a text when I wake up.” “It's okay. I'll bring your food when it's dinner time here. You rest.” Daia replied to me, a huge smile on her face. After she left the room, I closed the curtains and laid down on the bed. When I woke up, I would face my demons.
