Adonis POV
“Ughhh…” I groaned once I successfully slid my c**k into Eris.
“Yes, Adonis, yes, just like that.” She moaned, wrapping her hands around my neck. “You need to go harder. f**k me like you used to.”
I increased my pace, slamming into her as hard as I could. I never once had a problem with how loud she moaned, but today her moans were getting on my nerves and messing up my thoughts.
I had stormed out of the training grounds after another failed attempt to shift to my wolf. We’d managed to get me back into physical shape, but the real issue now was actually summoning my wolf. I had so much pent-up energy and anger that I desperately needed to release. Since I couldn’t overwork myself on the field anymore, I decided to just f**k all those frustrations out.
“Faster, Adonis…” Eris gasped, pushing her hips up against mine.
I shook my head, desperately trying to focus on the task at hand. I was thrusting deep into her walls when Caspian’s stupid face decided to pop into my head.
“f**k…” I cursed out loud, going immediately limp inside of her.
It has been like this lately. Every single time I was with Eris, thoughts of Caspian would ruin it and make me lose interest. And whenever Caspian was around me, I couldn’t stop thinking about Thalia. It was frustrating me half to death.
“There you go again, going limp,” Eris sighed, slipping my c**k out of her. “Are you sure the magic spells Caspian is casting aren't having a negative effect on you? Because you never used to have a problem making me finish.”
“This has absolutely nothing to do with Caspian. His spells are what have been keeping me alive, Eris,” I roared, my patience officially hitting zero.
“Why are you getting so defensive all of a sudden? I was just asking a question, Adonis…”
She tried to touch me, but I pulled away. “I’m tired and stressed thinking about shifting before the next full moon. Forgive me if s*x isn’t exactly the main event on my mind right now.”
“But you were the one who came to me,” she argued, raising an eyebrow. “You literally pulled me out of the kitchen and rubbed your hard c**k against my ass, remember? And that was right after your usual medical visits with Caspian.”
“What are you trying to say then?”
She stared at me for some time, clearly contemplating whether to say what was on her mind or not. “Nothing…” she finally sighed. “All I’m trying to say is you’ve been pretty distant lately. And it’s not just about the sex.”
“I have a lot of things to think about. My life is literally still on thin ice, Eris; let’s not forget that.” I moved to sit on the edge of the bed while Eris just lay there watching me. “I’m sorry if I can’t f**k you however you want right now—”
“This isn’t about the s*x—”
“Then stop complaining about it,” I snapped, cutting her off.
“Ever since Thalia ran away, you’ve been completely different.”
I rolled my eyes so hard it hurt. “Fabulous. First it was Caspian, now it's Thalia? Who's next on the blame list?”
“Well, what do you expect me to do when you still haven’t given me a reasonable explanation for why you’re acting so distant?”
I was so tired of hearing the same thing over and over. If she wasn’t nagging about me being distant, she was nagging about how I didn’t look at her the same way anymore. This was the final straw for me. “Have you thought maybe you’re just being overbearing and intolerable?” The words rolled off my tongue before I could even stop myself.
She couldn’t say anything. She opened her mouth and closed it, but nothing came out.
I did everything I could to settle my mind, but nothing worked. Even s*x wasn’t working anymore.
Anytime Eris and I were together and Caspian came in to check on my vitals or progress, Eris would throw daggers at him. Caspian always remained totally unbothered. Whether he knew what she was doing or just pretended not to, he ignored Eris altogether. I honestly admired his ability to do that.
“You should rest your legs; they’re starting to swell internally,” Caspian had advised the last time he was here while massaging my legs. “And the herbs I recommended?” he asked.
“The doctor said it would conflict with his Western medications…” Eris stepped in, eager to find a flaw in his treatment.
Caspian stopped massaging my legs. “But I specifically told you about the benefits of those herbs to his heart.” he frowned, his voice dropping.
“He’s doing okay, isn’t he?” Eris argued back.
“And that obviously has absolutely nothing to do with the doctor’s f*****g Western medicines,” he spat right back. “Where were his miracle medications when Adonis was on the brink of death?”
“It’s Alpha Adonis to you,” Eris warned him, her voice hardening.
“Enough!” I growled, my head pounding. “Caspian’s spells have been what has kept me alive for the longest. If he says to use a specific herb, then we use it.”
Eris huffed before turning away.
Maybe it was the drowsiness from the spells or fatigue, but I could have sworn I saw a grin on Caspian’s face.
Defeated, Eris eventually walked out of the room. After Caspian’s last warning to me, I did calm down a bit on straining my body, but the two of us hardly exchanged a word after that.
“Eris told one of the guards to watch me closely…” Caspian stated calmly. “I’m not telling you this so you'll warn her or anything. I’m just letting you know in case you’re wondering why she suddenly loses an eye or ends up with her mouth permanently sealed.”
I tried my best to keep a straight face and not laugh, but then he kept talking.
“And some of the maids have been talking about how your chambers are quiet at night… unlike before. Are you having trouble in bed…” he paused. “Alpha Adonis?”
My threatening smile faded before it could even break free.
“What does that mean?” I snapped, immediately defending myself.
“Well, it’s normal for my spells to have some side effects,” he said smoothly. “Some of which include difficulty eating, mood swings, and an inability to perform in bed.” His hands squeezed my legs tighter each time he spoke. “If you want, I can recommend more herbs to improve your…”
“Get out.” I barked at his face.
He only smiled and finally let go of my leg. “I was only trying to help your situation, Alpha.”
“If I ever hear you speak of this again, I’ll cut off your f*****g tongue,” I warned him, the threat burning in my throat.
Caspian left the room that night, smiling to himself like a mischievous wizard.
I couldn’t get my mind off that night, off the fact that everyone had started to notice. But what vexed me most was that Caspian was fully aware of it all. Now not only am I known as the Alpha who couldn’t shift, but I’m also being seen as an Alpha who is sexually incapacitated.
I punched through the wall, feeling anger surging through me. “Neighboring territories are going to think I can’t handle my own kingdom!” I yelled, my knuckles throbbing. “How can my whole life be falling apart before my very eyes and I can’t do a single thing about it?!”
“You need to calm down, Adonis, or you’re going to rupture your organs again.” Eris tried to calm me down, but I moved away from her.
“First, Thalia ran away with my wolf, and then I was struck down with this evil illness,” I shouted, pacing the floor. “I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, and I can’t even have s*x with my mate!”
“Adonis, calm down!”
But it was already too late. A searing pain exploded through my chest, so brutal it stole the breath from my lungs.
“Eris…” I gasped.
My knees buckled. I clawed at my shirt, trying to stop the burning sensation spreading through my chest. My heartbeat pounded wildly, then stumbled into a terrifying, uneven rhythm.
“Caspian! Get Caspian now!” I could hear Eris screaming in the background.
The world tilted, my vision blurred, and the last thing I heard was the frantic shouting around me before darkness swallowed everything.
