Chapter 3

1483 Words
Riley Asher Olivia's gaze pierced me like daggers. An anger so visible that she didn't try to hide. If only she accepted my proposal, she wouldn't be restrained right now. But she's a tough one to tame, contrary to what my great grandmother, the last seer before life got the better of her, foretold. She spoke of someone powerful born from the royal blood of seers, destined to play a crucial role in the Pack. Olivia must be that person, with the eye necklace, the heirloom of the Quinn dynasty, adorning her. "Let me go, okay? Can't you respect my decision? You're just like the colonizers of the past!" she hissed, struggling against the chains. For over a decade, I searched tirelessly, and it was only two years ago when I finally found a lead on her. Two years spent observing her every move, searching for an opportunity to have her. Now that I have her, confirmed her identity, I won't let her slip away. "You can't leave, Olivia. Just behave and follow Alpha Riley's orders," Vix asserted, earning an eye roll from her. "I know what you're all planning. Useless. I won't cooperate," she stubbornly growled. "You want to use me to gauge your chances against the Walkers, right? What if I told you that you stand no chance against that race?" Her words grabbed my attention instantly. She knew about the Walkers. Ten years ago, our pack, Starfall, suffered a devastating blow. My parents were executed, half of our pack perished, either killed or enslaved by the Walkers. Only a hundred of us survived. That tragic event has driven me to spend my life planning for revenge, yet I couldn't proceed without certainty. That's why I needed Olivia. I want to know if our efforts will lead to success. Dealing with the Walkers is no easy task—they're the second-highest level of vampires, ones even the Valkyrie struggle to control. "Just send me back to my Nana and don't ruin my life. I'm about to graduate. Please, show some mercy," she pleaded. Vix and Max exchanged looks with me, silently questioning whether imprisoning Olivia was the right choice. Her revelation about our failure against the Walkers caused me to hesitate. It provided an answer that I needed. Perhaps this year isn't the right time to raise an attack, and maybe the army of warriors I'd gathered wasn't strong enough. However, if I released Olivia, what if she exposed our existence to others? There were still hunters lurking in the woods eager to hunt us down. "She's staying here, whether she likes it or not," I concluded. I couldn't afford to let her leave. It was too risky. "Damn you, Riley. You selfish, ugly creature. I'll curse you to death!" she shouted angrily. My brow furrowed, and I halted my steps upon hearing the word "ugly." A little insulted with her use of words. Instead of walking away, I approached where Olivia was and squatted down to meet her eye level. "Which part of my face do you find ugly, my dear?" I inquired. "All of you, everything..." she spat in anger, then suddenly headbutted me. I jerked my head back, caught off guard by her fierceness. Stars danced in my eyes for a moment. Damn, woman. "Weak," her comment came almost as a whisper, but my wolf senses amplified it enough for me to hear clearly. I raised my hand, intending to strike her, but Vix and Max suddenly appeared by Olivia's side, urging me not to. "Alpha," Max called out, shaking his head. This woman is undoubtedly getting under my skin. She's like a rabid fox. I wonder how her grandmother managed to tame her. I still can't forget when she kicked my crotch earlier; that was the most excruciating pain I've ever felt. "What now? Planning to hurt me? Go ahead. Men like you are weak, stupid, ignorant, useless, heartless, and pathetic!" she ranted, provoking my irritation. Olivia, with that innocent face, hide a spicy attitude. I couldn't believe she's this unscrupulous. She truly had the audacity to incite my anger. If only she weren't a woman, I'd have punched her already. I exhaled deeply, trying to rein in my emotions as I walked away. The longer I stayed with Olivia, the more she grated on my nerves. I'd never encountered someone as aggravating as her. Any man who becomes her boyfriend will undoubtedly be unlucky. "Alpha, should we send Olivia back? She's shouting and yelling. We need her in a sound state; if we force her, she might betray us in the end," Vix advised me. I massaged my temple, frustration bubbling up as I punched the wall. Couldn't Olivia just cooperate? Sure, these circumstances might be a shock to her, but couldn't she at least try to adapt? "Stupid, Riley. She's human; you must have scared the daylights out of her," Ice, my wolf, interjected. Scared? That woman didn't seem scared at all. It felt more like she wanted to take us all on. She's that tough. I've met my fair share of she-wolves, but Olivia is just on a different level. Humans are supposed to be weak, easily tamed, and fearful, but that girl... Maybe it's the royal blood coursing through her veins that gives her that bravery. "What if she tells everyone about us?" I pondered. Vix shook his head. "We'll give her a sleeping potion and send her back to her Nana's place. Even if she does tell everyone about us, she doesn't know our location. Nobody will believe her," he suggested. I must admit, Vix has a point. If I force Olivia to follow me or threaten her into obedience, she might become even more rebellious. I sighed and considered Vix's words. Then, I nodded in agreement. "Fine, Vix. I'll trust you on this. Make sure nobody knows, but don't erase her memory. She needs to remember this," I instructed. Olivia needs to understand that she has a role to fulfill in the realm. She isn't just an ordinary human; her existence holds significant importance for me and my people. She is the key to our victory. I need her. "Wait, Alpha. How about marking her? That way, you can trace her wherever she goes," Max suggested. I glanced at Max and suddenly had an idea. I retraced my steps back to where Olivia was and headed straight to where she was restrained. She glared at me, spewing curses. "I'm going to release you, Olivia," I grinned, lowering myself to her eye level. "But under one condition." Max had a point. I knew this action was a violation, not right by any means, but my desperation to keep her was overwhelming. I needed to ensure she couldn't escape. Once she completed her degree, I wanted her to return and live with us. "What condition?" she demanded fiercely. "I have to mark you," I stated. Her brows furrowed instantly, a clear rejection shining in her eyes. "No. Why would I let you mark me? That's something you're supposed to do with your mate. Stupid werewolf," she retorted, complaining. I know. This is a compromise; I won't seek out my fated mate and will choose her instead. I needed her more than the one I'm fated to. Besides, I haven't met my mate yet, so marking her is not a big deal. "Cat got your tongue? You realize it was a stupid idea?" she sarcastically added. I sighed heavily. It might be a stupid idea, but it's the best I could think of. It's out of my desperation that Olivia has to comply. It's a condition she has to agree to before leaving my pack. If not, then I have no choice but to keep her here. "It is a yes or no question, Olivia. Will you accept the condition or not?" I asked, disregarding her earlier comment. "No," she replied. "Then, you'll have no choice but to stay here," I said, shrugging as I prepared to stand and leave. I'd already given her a chance; she needed to compromise. "Wait..." she shouted, swallowing her pride. "Fine... mark me or whatever it is, as long as you release me after." An evil smile played on my lips, but it quickly faded as I turned back to face her. She looked angry and determined, clearly not happy with her decision but understanding she had no other options. "Great choice, Olivia." Before she could react, I swiftly moved to her side, pulling her hair aside to expose the skin on her neck. With her fair complexion, her veins were visible. My wolf took control, and without hesitation, I marked her. Olivia hissed, attempting to push me away, but her energy dwindled, and after I marked her, she fainted. Now, you can't escape from me. I whispered, wiping the blood on my lips. You are mine now.
