Zoning out

After getting to my room, the room is made up of two bunk beds that means four people par room, everyone has a wardrobe and a desk and chair to read.

"Hey welcome" I heard a voice

"Oh hey, sorry I didn't notice that someone was here " I replied

"It's okay. I'm Sophia, Sophia Damilola "she said

"Nice name. I'm Faye Shagaya" I replied

She nodded her head" you're the second to come so you have the opportunity to pick a spot " she said

Wow at least so far I've found one person that is nice ..

I decided to pick the second bunk but the down bed arranged my clothes in the wardrobe that was provided for me and my books that were provided by the school on my desk.

I decided to check for my time table for the term so I decided to ask Sophia about it but she was her bed but I don't know if she's sleeping or not.

"Hey Sophia sorry for disturbing I wanted to ask what class are you in?" I asked

" Art class " she replied

"Oh thank you. Do you know anyone in the science class?" I asked

"Yes I do but she's in love hostel. What do you want?" She asked

" I wanted the time table to sort things out " I told her

"Oh don't worry our time tables will be place in our classes later today so we can go and copy them for ourselves" she told me

"Thanks " I thanked her

"Anytime " she said "oh and lunch is by 2:30pm today because it's resumption day but normally it's by 2pm" she added

" Thanks, really appreciate because I really need that lunch" I replied her

I decided to take a nap before lunch but I made sure I told Sophia to wake me up .

After taking our lunch we went back to our hostel room and two girls were already there, they have arranged there stuffs at their own side of the room.

"Hey, Anne welcome back to school" Sophia said

"Yeah thanks" the girl named Anne replied

" How did your holiday go?" She asked

" It was wonderful and fun. How about yours?" Sophia started making conversation with Anne so I decided to climb my bed and zoned out on them..

The remaining of the days past bye in a twinkle of an eye and boom Monday morning the day I've been dreading, the day where I will meet my new classmates and be asked to introduce myself to everyone in every class.

After wearing my uniform and getting ready for the day I left the hostel with soph (what I've decided to be calling her).. heading to the assembly hall.

It shocked me to know that this school don't do their assemblies outside but inside a hall sitting, at least my legs will not have to bear the pain of standing for long.

Also found out that the teachers have a meeting and while their meeting is ongoing the students sing hymns and wait for the teachers to come.

And the have a band that play the instruments when the principal comes in till he gets to the pulpit and they also play for the national anthem the the pledge is said by everyone.

Then the principal started to address the school " welcome everyone, hope you all enjoyed your holiday. This is a new section, new class and of cause for some of you a new school. I want to welcome you to this section and semester and hope you all have a fruitful stay in school. Make sure you stay away from anything that will tarnish your name, the name of your parents and of cause the name of the school. You're all welcome once again.

Today there will also be an introduction of the school prefects who are going to be helping in the organization and the running of the school for those who have forgotten them and the new students" so we had the social prefect in person of......"

And that was how he went on and on and of cause me being me I zoned out " as you go to your classes make sure you don't make noise, class reps call your teacher for their periods. Ss1 give us a song to go to our classes "it was that voice that brought me out of my world, a voice that I can't put a name to, why? Because I was being me.

Well don't get me wrong I pay attention in class I just zone out when I'm not interested in whatever is being said.

When we all got to our class our form teacher immediately came in and the class that was once noisy has become quiet.

"Welcome once again to the new section and the new term. I hope you all try your best to be good at the end "

" Oh we'll be changing your sitting position "he said
