Doc came back not long after Warfalcon had left, handing her the discharge papers. “Alright, you are good to go. Let’s try not to see each other again for a bit. I’m glad you’ve returned, but I’d rather not need to fix you up every other day.”
Eclipse rolls her eyes as she hands them back. “No promises.”
She follows him out, waving goodbye as he continues down the hallway while she turns towards the front doors. The second she gets close to the door, she notices a shimmer on the other side and groans.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” She grumbles as she weighs her options.
Letting out a sigh, she walks into the warp gate, steeling herself for what she knew was on the other side.
“It’s about time.” Lindsey’s sickeningly sweet voice calls out. “We’ve been waiting forever.”
Eclipse raises an eyebrow, keeping her expression neutral as she takes in the scene. Lindsey stood in the clearing in front of her, holding onto Anna with a gun to her head. She could sense more people in the surrounding woods, probably Lindsey’s friends, keeping Warfalcon from interfering.
“I’m sorry. She came out of nowhere.” Anna whimpers as Lindsey tightens her grip, her nails digging into her arm.
Eclipse offers a reassuring smile before refocusing on Lindsey and taking a step towards them.
“I wouldn’t do that. Any closer and I’ll shoot.” Lindsey warns, causing Anna to yelp as she pulls her closer.
Eclipse stops, putting her hands up in a surrendering motion. “OK, just stay calm. What do you want, Lindsey?”
“What do I want? You, duh. I miss what we had. Nobody else can handle testing my potions like you can, not to mention how popular I used to be before you ran.” She smirks as Eclipse grimaces, “So, you and I will leave. We can go to one of the outlying Islands and start over where nobody knows us.”
Eclipse frowns, “And if I agree, you’ll let her go?”
Lindsey starts laughing, the sound sending shivers down her spine. “Hell no. These are the consequences of disobeying me and getting close to another woman. You think I wouldn’t find out about her?”
“I don’t know what you think...” Eclipse starts as Lindsey growls, interrupting her.
Lindsey snaps at her, “Shut up! I’m not a moron. So, you sit tight while I handle her, and then we can get out of here.”
Before Eclipse could even speak, Lindsey pulled the trigger with a smug expression.
Fortunately, Eclipse had been prepared for that, and the bullet bounces off, falling to the ground.
“Wait... what...” Lindsey freezes, staring at the bullet. Eclipse runs forward, taking advantage of her confusion to push Lindsey away from Anna.
“How did you?” Anna looks at her.
She taps the force field on the side of Anna’s head, releasing it. “I’ve had the time to perfect some of my abilities. One of which is the ability to create a force field as close to the body as possible.”
Lindsey lets out an angry shriek, causing Eclipse to push Anna behind her. “Move Eclipse! I’m killing that little...”
She lets out a pained yelp as Eclipse slams her against a tree, her eyes turning black around the edges. The gun skitters over the ground as she puts her hand on Lindsey’s throat.
“You’re not doing anything, Lindsey. You will never even think about hurting her ever again.” Eclipse drops her and turns away, walking back towards Anna.
“No, I won't let you. I’ll...” Lindsey starts but falls to the ground with a scream.
A black moon glows on her neck for a few seconds before disappearing and leaving her breathless. “What...”
“My curse mark. You can threaten me all you want, Lindsey, but I’m done letting you threaten people that I care about.” Eclipse turns away once more, ignoring the furious screams and temper tantrum that Lindsey threw behind her.
Anna looks at her like she can’t decide whether to be impressed or scared. “Remind me not to get on your bad side... I’m starting to feel extremely grateful that you were just undercover and not an actual villain.”
Eclipse laughs, “Alright, if it makes you feel better. I promise I won't ever try to hurt you.”
Anna’s face turns red as she opens her mouth to speak, but her eyes widen suddenly. “Eclipse!”
A bang fills the air, and a burning pain spreads through her chest as Anna screams.
