Chapter 4

He quietly entered the house and headed toward his bedroom. Anyone who didn’t know Jungkook and stepped into that room would think he was depressed. The whole room was black: the walls, the wardrobe, the curtains, the bed, and everything else in it. The only colorful thing in the room was a withered red rose in a vase by the corner. Jungkook found it fascinating because it reminded him that something ridiculous like love only makes people weak. It only turns you, after it ends, into the weakest and most miserable creature on earth. He threw himself on the bed and unbuttoned his shirt, but he was too tired to take it off completely. He placed his forearm over his forehead and stared at the wall. He really wanted to find out what had happened to Taehyung as soon as possible. Maybe he should ask Jin… but no… he had to wait until Taehyung told him everything himself. That way, Taehyung would trust him more, and besides… it was a proven fact that remembering painful past memories could destroy a person’s spirit. And again, that devilish smile spread across Jungkook’s lips. It was about time to start playing more seriously. Now it was time to use a bit of his power. He closed his eyes and concentrated deeply. Only one name echoed in his mind: “Kim Seokjin… Kim Seokjin…” Finally, he succeeded. He had managed to enter Jin’s mind. The scene in front of him was Taehyung’s hospital bed, and Jin was deep in thought. Now was the time. An inner battle. “I should have taken better care of him,” was the thought repeating in Jin’s head. “Yeah… that’s true…” “I know… it’s my fault.” “You’re not a good hyung for him.” “I thought I could help him but…” “Who have you ever been able to help so that Taehyung would be any different?” “N-no one…” “Tell me, Jin… what’s the point of you existing at all?!” “I tried… I’m looking after my grandmother and Taehyung.” “And?” “And what?” “Which one of them is okay right now?” “I… I…” He had no answer for this question. Maybe that strange voice in his mind was right. “Think about it.” Jungkook opened his eyes and laughed. He had managed to do what he wanted. He could see that black aura of despair wrapping around Jin’s mind. He got up and sat on the bed, but feeling dizzy, he decided to lie down again. Entering others’ minds was very effective but drained a lot of energy. He pulled his phone from his pocket and set the alarm for 5 a.m., then put it on the nightstand. He took off his shirt and tossed it into the corner, then crawled under the blanket. He was so tired, and sleep was the only thing that could lighten his mind.
