Chapter 106: Mathew's POV
Twenty seconds. That's all the time it took for us to realise we were willing to abandon everything and everyone to save her. The first five seconds. Orion and I howled. Nearly half of the werewolves had died. Our allies were almost all gone. The inkling healers were all either dead or their hands and bodies were so battered that they could no longer move, let alone heal anyone. More than half of the inkling warriors were dead and honestly it was only their machines that were helping them hold on. And the nymphs...the poor nymphs. I should have known they wouldn't be able to survive a war, especially a war like this. I tried to send them all away from the battlefield, but Owen refused for his people to cower away while others died and now only a few dozen of them remained. So we howl
