Steven looked at me using his stern gaze. I felt my heart getting nervous, but I didn’t think he was trying to intimidate me. Aside from that, I wanted to know why he kept calling me Veronica, but because of what Klaus favored, I knew I needed to stop myself from knowing the truth.
Annabelle’s life was more important than knowing why Steven had been calling Veronica. I believed that the time would come when I would see the truth. All I needed to do was to obey what Klaus had wanted so he wouldn’t be mad at me and do Annabelle’s operation.
“Are you okay?” Steven paused before he continued, “Sorry, he did this to you today. I should have taught him a lesson or maybe broken his hands, but his hands are important because he needs to operate on my mother.”
