Up in the skies

Chapter 3

"You're finally awake."

I panicked as soon as I woke up since I'm in an unfamiliar place, and the first one I saw when I left the room was this guy. I remember meeting him yesterday night at the bar.

"How did I end up here?" I asked, getting worried, but I don't feel anything to my body. And I'm still wearing the clothes I wore yesterday night.

"You passed out yesterday, and when I look at your address it's kinda far so I can't send you there. I don't know where to bring you, so for your safety I just bought it here at my rest house." I looked around and saw how simple yet elegant the house is.

"Did we? You know?" After asking that question he looks at me and that makes me worried. I hope he didn't misunderstand what I'm asking, I'm just worried. He let out a small laugh.

"We didn't, and you're literally drunk yesterday." I just nodded and felt so embarrassed. Why did I get myself drunk? "Have some breakfast." I sit at the breakfast table and look at the food he presents to me.

There's an egg and bacon. He also put bread on the side, and saw that he had coffee on his side. I suddenly crave for coffee. I saw him looking at me. That's why my brows furrowed.

"Do you want some coffee?" He asked why my eyes looked at him and just nodded. I saw his lips raised and started preparing for the coffee.

"Anyways thank you for taking care of me last night. I didn't expect that I would pass out." He placed the coffee in front of me and looked straight into my eyes. That's why I kinda feel nervous.

"You're not from this place. What brought you here?" He asked as he sat down in front of me. I can't just tell him my real reason. He will surely pity me. "I know we are not close enough, but we can be friends." I smiled as I ate the food in front of me.

"I'm staying for vacation." I just answer, because that's also my real reason. "What's your name again? I think I forgot about it." I remember that his name starts with A but I don't remember his real name.

"Adrian, that's my name." I smiled. The both of us continue eating and talking.

We're talking as if we didn't meet in an unexpected situation. I also found out that he is not from here, but he always stays here for vacation. That's why he had this rest house with him. After having breakfast he excused himself and said that he's going to take a bath since he has work to do. While he's taking a bath I was left and just wandered around. You can really say that this house owner is an Engineer, because you can see a lot of furniture that only an Engineer can understand.

"Ahm do you have any plans today?" I was busy looking around when I heard someone speak. That's why I looked at my back and saw Adrian already wearing his uniform.

"I don't know, maybe I'll start doing some water activities. They look fun to do." I answer with a smile on my face. He gave me something, and I saw my car key, wallet and my phone. "Oh! I almost forget my own things."

"I park your car outside so you don't need to pick it up at the bar." I nodded and smiled at him. I never expect that I will meet someone as kind as him.

"I don't really know how to pay for your kindness. If you're free, is it okay if I treat you to lunch or dinner?" That's the only way I can pay someone kindness to me. He extended his arms, that's why I looked at it. "What?" I was confused.

"Your phone, I'm going to put my number. You can call me if you run out of ideas to do here." He said and I immediately gave my phone to him. He dialed his number and even called his number so he could save my number to his phone. "And I will call you if I have free time for lunch or dinner." I nodded as he gave my phone back.

"Thank you again, Adrian. For taking care of me."

"You're welcome, Nat." A lot of people call me by that nickname but why is he calling me that it has some effect on me.

We both went out and saw two different cars in front of us. One is mine and the other is probably his. We both didn't say goodbye to each other, because we both know that we will be able to see each other again. I drove until I reached the hotel where I am staying and went immediately to my room. I wasn't tired so I just took a shower and changed my clothes so I can start doing my daily activities at this place. I wear comfortable clothes since I'm doing some water activities.

I already scheduled it today. I'm planning to do some surfing. I know how to surf but it's been a long time since the last time I did it. That's why I don't know if I'm still that good at it.

"Nice to have you here, Miss Nat." He is the teacher that will tell me about surfing. Though I already know how to surf, I still want someone to be kind to me.

"I hope I can do well today." Both of us laugh and we start with the briefing. He told me some important things when surfing.

After the briefing he told me to wear the proper clothes for surfing. He also let me choose my own board. That's why I chose a good one. After we did all the things we already went to the water he still kept on telling me what to do and I just listened. When we finally saw the big wave I started to ride my board and I continued to ride with the flow of the wave. My teacher looked so happy, because I did well on the first try.

"You're so good with this." He said as he stopped in front of me. I can't help but to hide my smile with the compliment that I just received. "Would you want to do it in the middle? There's a lot of big waves there?" He asked and I'm kinda hesitating.

"I don't know if I can do it there." I said as I saw those big waves. I'm not a pro in terms of surfing, that's why I don't know if I can do it there. "Maybe next time, and I just also went back to surfing."

"I understand, let's try more tricks." I just nodded and followed what he told me to do.

I spend a lot of time under the sun. My water activities are just perfect for this season, but I'm sure that I will get tan after this. After the surfing activities I stopped and went to a place where I could eat my lunch. I also look at my phone to see some of my photos that I took and can't help but to smile. I look great with all those photos. I was busy looking at my picture when I received a message.

Adrian:

You're good at surfing:)

I smiled as I saw his message. I remember that his site is just around this place, that's why maybe he saw me while surfing.

Me:

We should try to do it if you're free.

Adrian looks kind and I want to be friends with him in a short period of time. But I don't want him to be attached too much to me, because I know what might happen after that.

Adrian:

That's a good idea. This weekend I'm free, let's try it.

Me:

Okay! Let's schedule it.

I don't know but I'm starting to anticipate the weekend. I keep on waiting for that day to come. Adrian told me to meet him at the beach already. That's why when I woke up on Saturday morning I prepared myself. I wear shorts, and a loose shirt. When I finally arrived at the beach I started looking for him, and he didn't give me a hard time. Because I saw him for a short period of time.

"Good morning." I greeted him and he plastered a big smile to me, that's why I can't help but to smile also.

"Good morning, did you already have breakfast?" He asked as we started to walk to the way where we will have our surfing thing.

"I haven't, how about you? Should we have breakfast first?" Maybe that will do. We still have a lot of time, and the surfing can wait.

"Okay let's have breakfast, and it's my treat." My brows furrowed as he said that it's his treat.

"No, it's mine. You already treated me a lot back then. This is my pay." I told him, because I really want to treat him. But how will I treat him, if he always does this?

"You're going to teach me surfing so just let me treat you to breakfast." I shook my head and I heard his small laugh, but I didn't notice him and continued walking to the nearby breakfast shop.

We went to the counter and before he even paid for it I already paid. That's why he sounds so disappointed but I just laugh at him. While waiting for our order we started to talk about some does and don'ts of surfing. After we finished the breakfast we went to the surfing place.

They greeted me and let us do what we wanted. I fix Adrian stuff and even choose the board for him. He said that this isn't the first time he went surfing but he's not that good. That's why he is still worried. After choosing the board and changing our clothes. We went to the water and waited for the big wave.

"Remember what I told you?" I asked him while waiting for the big wave. He looked at his back and at mine. "That's kinda a big wave, but don't worry it will be okay for you."

"Are you sure?" I can't help but to smile with the way he asked that. He looked worried and scared. I reach for his board and tap it to catch his attention.

"Don't worry, I'm here so you don't need to be scared." I even patted his shoulder and he just nodded.

I looked back and signalled him to get ready. When the waves reached us we started to swim while we were on our board, and tried to stand up and balance ourselves. We almost reach the sea side when Adrian falls from his board. I looked at him and smiled.

"That's not bad." I told him and I saw him smile and that makes me feel so relieved because I'm worried that he might feel bad about not making it.

"Wow! I didn't expect that this would be so fun. Let's try it again." He said full of excitement that's why I just nodded and got my board so we can be in our position again. "You told me that this is also the time you went surfing after so long."

"Yeah, ever since I started working I started losing time with myself."

"But you're still good here." I thank him for the compliment he gave me. "Let's go far. Can we?"

"Just make sure that you will make it." He nodded, that's why I let him. We went further so we could have a long slide.

And at the right time since the wave is about to come we position ourselves and when the wave hits us we start doing the same things we did earlier. We both made it to our board and even crashed into each other, that's why we both fell down, but we were already done when that happened. We both look at each other laughing.
