Chapter 25: A Family Reunion
Sarah's son, a young boy with James's piercing blue eyes, stepped forward, his gaze fixed on James.
"Hi," the boy said, his voice trembling. "I'm Max."
James's face contorted in a mix of emotions as he gazed at his son. "Max," he whispered, his voice cracking. "I had no idea."
Victoria snorted. "Of course you didn't, James. You were too busy with your own life to care about anyone else's."
But James ignored Victoria, his eyes fixed on Max. "I'm so sorry, Max. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you."
Max's eyes welled up with tears as he nodded. "I just wanted to meet you, Dad."
Emily's heart ached as she watched the reunion, her mind reeling with questions. What would happen next? Would James be able to make up for lost time with Max?
As the scene unfolded, one thing was certain - nothing would ever be the same again.
Chapter 26: A New Beginning
James's eyes never left Max's face as he took a step forward. "Can I hug you, son?" he asked, his voice trembling.
Max nodded, and James enveloped him in a warm embrace. Emily watched, tears streaming down her face, as father and son held each other tightly.
Victoria's expression twisted in disgust. "This is sickening," she spat, turning to leave.
But Sarah stopped her. "Victoria, wait. This changes everything."
Victoria turned back, her eyes narrowing. "What are you talking about, Sarah?"
Sarah took a deep breath. "I think it's time we told the truth about our family's past. The secrets, the lies... everything."
James's eyes widened in shock. "Sarah, I don't know if that's a good idea."
But Sarah stood firm. "It's time for the truth, James. For Max's sake, and for ours."
