Chapter 14: A Burning Resentment
Emily followed Alexander to a quiet corner of the room, her heart racing with anticipation. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Alexander's eyes blazed with intensity. "Victoria's been playing us all," he said, his voice dripping with venom. "She's been manipulating James, using him for her own gain."
Emily's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean?"
Alexander's lips curled into a snarl. "She's been using him to get to his business partner, a man with connections to the underworld. Victoria's been trying to get in good with him, to further her own interests."
Emily felt a wave of hatred wash over her. How could Victoria do this to James, to them?
Just then, Victoria appeared, a smug smile spreading across her face. "Well, well, well," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "Look what we have here. The little lovers, all cozy and intimate."
Emily's eyes flashed with anger. "You're a monster," she spat, her voice trembling with rage.
Victoria's smile grew wider. "And you're just a foolish little girl," she sneered. "You think you can take me down? I'll crush you, Emily. I'll destroy everything you hold dear."
