Chapter 5: A Midnight Stroll
Emily's heart raced as James's hand enveloped hers. She felt a spark of electricity run through her body, and for a moment, she forgot about the past. She forgot about the heartache and the tears. All she could think about was the present, and the way James's eyes seemed to bore into her soul.
"Come with me," James whispered, his voice low and husky.
Emily nodded, and James led her out of the hotel, into the cool night air. They walked hand in hand, the city lights twinkling around them like diamonds.
As they strolled through Central Park, the trees casting long shadows behind them, Emily felt a sense of freedom she hadn't experienced in years. She felt alive, and it was all because of James.
Suddenly, James stopped and turned to face her. His eyes burned with intensity, and Emily's heart skipped a beat.
"I want you, Emily," James whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of her own heartbeat. "I want you like I've never wanted anyone before."
Emily's breath caught in her throat as James's lips descended onto hers. The kiss was fierce, passionate, and it left her breathless.
As they broke apart for air, Emily knew she was in trouble. She was falling for James all over again, and she wasn't sure if she could stop herself.
