Emily's heart skipped a beat as she hesitated, unsure of what to promise. But something in James's eyes made her trust him, made her want to believe in him.
"Okay, James," she said finally. "I promise. I'll still love you, no matter what."
James's face relaxed, a look of relief washing over him. "Thank you, Emily," he whispered. "Thank you for trusting me."
He took a deep breath before speaking, his words spilling out in a rush. "Victoria is my sister, Emily. My twin sister. And she's been seeking revenge against me for years."
