BETRAYED

CHAPTER 4: CRISIS

After a tiring morning of getting Daisy to get up, I finally arrived at the company and ran inside to sign the paperwork that was due for 11;00am

This time I knew my way around so I didn't have to ask anyone for directions which I was so happy about, once I got to the floor I hopped out of the lift and went straight to the rude receptionist from last time 

"Afternoon, Mr Ki-" "I know" She rudely cuts me off chewing her gum making me uncomfortable. She props some papers in front of me not even looking "Go in that room-" she points at an office next to River's office "In there, read and sign it all and give it to Mr St.Laurent when you're are done" She begins to type and I turn around to the room bringing the paper with me "I don't think I've met someone so rude" I whisper to myself walking to the room 

I walked into the room and it looks like a small office for one. I went to sit down on the desk in the office and I was about to begin reading but a phone call comes into my phone and I look at my phone and see it was Daisy's school

"Hello?" "Hey am I talking to Daisy's sister, Natalia?" "Speaking, is there something wrong?" "Ermm yes actually, your sister has fainted in school and I was calling-l" My heart begins to pound as I hear what's happened to Daisy "I- we really can't tell what has happened to her, she hasn't woken up since and the ambulance are here to take her" My eyes begin to swell and I couldn't breathe "I am on my way" My voice cracks "Thank you so much" I force out trying not to cry "Wish you all the best" "Yeah" I manage to get out and end the call standing up forgetting about the paper work 

"s**t" I grab the pen and just rush to sign it all without even looking as I couldn't see due to all the tears in my eyes. 

I couldn't cope I just signed it all and went into River's office without even knocking 

Once I go in, I see a woman on his lap who was talking to him but both their head snap to me as the door opens loudly "Natalia you can't just storm into my office like that" I didn't even care about the scene that is happening in front of me, all I was thinking about right now was my sister nothing else was registering 

"I am sorry-" I wipe my tears quickly so they couldn't see anything "Can you not see me and my fiancé are talking how rude can one be?" The woman comes to me pointing at me in a rude manner and I step back away from her "I am sorry, I need to go- I mean be somewhere" "Where?" He asks him angrily looking at me "I need to go" I say again and walk past the woman and put the papers on his desk "Care to tell me what's more important than your job?" I don't look up and bite my lip 

"She's an employee?" The women speaks as I can feel her looking me up and down "I need to go" I turn around so he doesn't see my face struggling to not cry

"If you leave, that's your job done, you can't come back" I stop and turn to him. I look down for a few seconds and ponder then I bow my head down politely "Thanks for you time, Sir, you will find someone better than me" Tears accidentally drop on my face and I see him notice but I quickly look down again 

"NATALIA COME HERE RIGHT HERE NOW" I hear him shout but it was too late. I run down the emergency exit and bump into the one and only 

"Sorry Roman" He was out smoking a cigarette with another man that I've never seen before and they stare at me in shock whilst I silently cry "What is wrong Natalia?" He scans my face all over "I am fine" He holds me so I don't go "Xavier, I'll see you up there" They both drop their cigarettes and the other man, named Xavier nods and leaves "Speak, come on" He says softly and I swallow 

"My sister is in hospital and I need to go, now, to her" I feel my phone start to vibrate again but I ignore it "Okay, calm down breathe-" He holds the sides of my arms as I shake "I'll drop you there, that's quicker, right?" He nods and I nod too and he wipes my tears with his thumbs "Thank you" I start to shake even more from the cold weather "Here, take my jacket" He hands me his big puffer jacket which looks costumed and helps me wear it "Feel better?" It is way bigger than me so it made me feel so much warmer "Don't cry" He wipes all my tears again and leads me to the parking lot at the back

He opens his car for me to his black Range Rover and I get in but suddenly a huge amount of cameras and paparazzi ambush us, taking millions of photos at once, all I could see was several flashes which was blinding me. 

Somehow, he managed to get inside the car and he quickly said "Cover your face, now!" I put my head down and cover my face and he helps me zip up the jacket and fasten my seatbelt as I look down avoiding the mob outside "All better" He starts the engine and starts to drive to the hospital 

"Thanks for bringing me here?" "Want me to come in?" "It's fine, I am just gonna pick up my sister and go" I smile lying and he smiles back "Wait your jacket" I pull the zip down but he stops me "Give me my jacket later, huh?" He says and I nod and hop out and run to the desk without looking back at him 

"My sister Daisy is here" "Oh she's now awake she is in room 262" "Thank you, nurse" It wasn't my first proto call of coming to the hospital. I've been here many times because of Daisy's condition so all the doctors and nurses seemed to know us well

"Daisy?" I go into the room but she wasn't in there "Hi Natalia, we've been waiting for you" The doctor comes into the room with another nurse "Daisy was doing fine this afternoon when she fainted at school but we noticed something in her head and she is now in a FMRI scan where we are running some tests on her to see what is going on" I nod quickly as he looks down at his clipboard 

"Oh okay, do you know what happened to her?" "I can't say right now but whatever is happening, it is eating her up and we are going to need to do that treatment sooner than later" My throat dries as he continues "I know but I don't have the money doctor" I start to get sad and he holds my shoulder "She needs the treatment soon Natalia or she's going to die, can you not just borrow the money from someone then pay them back later?" 

"I know no one, just my best friend Savannah" "It's for you sisters sake right now, try your best" I dry my eyes and nod trying to think of all my options but nothing was coming to my head 

"How much is it again?" "$70,000" "Ok, I will try and think" "I think it's best you come back tomorrow, she's going to be in there for a good 24 hours, so we can maintain her blood levels" I nod my head as I feel tears start to well up "Get rested" They both smile and leave together and I sit down on the chair next to the empty bed

'She's all I have'  I get up and walk out the hospital beginning to cry yet again, I was just so lost

I lost my job and I am about to lose my sister, I just hate my life, nothing goes well for me at all, it's like I am cursed, why doesn't God love me, I hate this

I think to myself as I try to walk home but I stumble across a nightclub, it looked pretty loud but I really needed something to take my mind off things.

I wiped my eyes clean and fixed my hair so the security would let me in and to my surprise without a word they opened the door for me and that was it, I was in 'That was easier than I thought'
