James had been bugging me constantly lately to find a mate. He knew all too well about my aversion to the idea of a love match. But what he didn't know was how I was starting to feel about Dominique. I wasn't ready to tell him about that quite yet. Unfortunately, this led to some aggravating discussions about finding someone to marry to serve a political agenda. In the mind of my Beta, it solved everything. I get married, our pack gets a Luna, and that Luna gives our pack something in return. Money, weapons, troops, whatever resources they might have at their disposal.
To be fair, many marriages among our kind were arranged in exactly this manner, particularly for those who had never found a mate.
