Hannah's POV A wave of dread washed over me. The last thing I needed right now was another conversation with him. But after a moment of hesitation, I decided to answer. If I do not answer he will buzz me all day. Why doesn't he leave me alone? Reluctantly, I answered, my voice tense as I greeted him. "Michael," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral. "Hannah," Michael's voice was softer than usual, almost hesitant. "I just wanted to check on you. How's the new job going?" I bit back a sigh. "It's my first day. I'm settling in." "Right, of course," he responded, sounding awkward. There was a brief silence before he continued, "I know this is probably the last thing you want to hear, but... I miss you, Hannah. I've been thinking about us, about everything that happened."
