We walked north until lunch. Aerefio told us that we were taking the train after we all ate two peanut-butter and jam sandwiches. "What train?" June asked. He ignored her and kept moving. We walked until dark to a train station. There were Witches running it. I could not believe my eyes. The train was massive. Not only were its wheels shiny to perfection, the light green coat of paint gleamed in the moonlight. Inside, it was all painted ivory. When I sat down, the benches were smooth, that I slid forward a couple inches. Aerefio clicked the black seat-belt in place, and we copied. A few other passengers got on. In the train, there was room for four people to each table. I was facing Claude, and June was facing Aerefio. The conductor came to the passenger side to ask if we were ready, and we all gave him a thumbs up.
He jogged outside to go in the front, and we were off! The train speed so fast, that my stomach felt like it was doing cartwheels in my heart. A few people were laughing and enjoying the ride. I couldn't help but enjoy it. The train stopped, and the conductor shouted, "North Carolina!" A mother witch and a baby half vampire got off the train. No one paid any attention to the half vampire, so I acted like everything was normal as well. Besides, what do I know? There was no one to pick up, so the train zoomed off again. We stopped at South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, before going to the Northeast. We finally got to Ohio, before going to Michigan. Aerefio had us get off at Michigan.
It was so cold. My breath was steaming the air. I shivered, and hugged myself. Aerefio instantly went to my side, hugging me and giving me warmth. We trekked across the snow, until the sun was high in the sky. We soon came to a pine forest, where little white bodies jumped out at us with wagging tails. I hugged the white fox pups, and they jumped all over me. A little while later, the mother came laughing. "They always love strangers. We've got to break them of that before vampires come."She then picked up the pups and gestured us to follow.
We walked into the trees, stopping occasionally for the pups to sniff around. Once we went into the clearing, I was speechless. Cute little cottages were built around the huge clearing. A partly frozen stream went around the perimeter of half the cottages. small flowers were planted between the cottages, and each cottage was a different shade of color. Around back, a garden bed was in each occupied house. A dark-haired pale man, about in his twenties, clapped Aerefio on the back. They were talking, so I wandered into one of the shops that they have in the clearing. It was so warm in there.
A blonde girl, about mine and Claude's age, smiled and asked,"Are you the new fox?" I nodded. She came out from behind to counter to shake my hand. "I am Chelsia and I am the tribe leader's daughter." "Hi," I said not knowing what to say to someone of power. I didn't have to, she grabbed two slices of cheese pizza, and a pop, and handed them to me. "You must be hungry." I know most people who like in Virginia say soda, but before I changed, even before I was born, my mom lived in Michigan her whole life. She grew up saying pop, and that is what we were always told to call it. I gulped my food down, and Claude went over to me. "I followed your scent in here, what are you doing? "Making a new friend," Chelsia said walking out the door as someone called her name.
He then asked me an odd question, "Do you think I might find my sister?" "What sister?" I asked confused. He slumped down and said, I have a sister who looks just like you and has a multicolored fox as well. I was shocked."So you're saying that the only reason you wanted to be friends with me is because you thought I was your sister!" Then I remembered how he acted when he saw my eyes. He jumped to his feet pleading."At first, but your scent was different. Once I saw your eyes, I knew you weren't her." I sighed. "This is the weirdest conversation I have had with anyone, and I had some weird conversations with the doctor about if I wanted a second stomach." June popped her head in. "Awkward" We yelled at the same time,"Were you listening to us the whole time?" She had a devilish grin on her face."What if I was? By the way, the leader is asking for Clara."
I walked to the clearing, and back into the cold, where everyone was waiting. A blonde lady with a thick, white, long sleeve dress enveloped me in a hug. "Welcome to our tribe, we are very happy to have you." Agreements rose from the crowd. We have a nice little cottage waiting for you, and some appropriate clothes, she said looking at my T-shirt and thin pants. She frowned at Aerefio, who had changed into a white sweatshirt and thick pants. She led me to a light red cottage, and gave me the key. She then swept back into the clearing, talking to Aerefio. I opened the door.
The inside was filled with glass. Glass tables, windows, chairs, beds, roof, and even a glass couch. The heat of the furnace warmed the glass, but I thought that it was creepy to have a glass roof. Anyone could just look at you and break in, even if it was reinforced glass. I took a shower in the Aqua-colored bathroom. The shower was glass, and the whole shower was covered by an aqua curtain. I slipped into a fuzzy white sweatshirt, and pants. I put them on in fox-form so that it is easier. When I walked into the kitchen, Aerefio was there. I smelled a familiar small, but I couldn't put my paw on it. He had made me a variety of different toast, and bagels with cream cheese. He made me eat so much, my stomach felt like it would explode. I suddenly felt dizzy, and fell to a dreamless sleep.
